Six consecutive BCS National Champions (Florida 06, LSU 07, Florida 08, Alabama 09, Auburn 10, Alabama 11)
Five teams in the AP Preseason top 10, included #2 Bama & #3 LSU, and six in the preseason top 25.
With the realign of college football conferences, the rest of the nation is trying to catch up with the dominance of the SEC; good luck. "The Zou" of Missouri and the 12th Man of Texas A&M join the likes of coeds in checkered fedoras in Bryant-Denny, Woo Pig Sooie in the Arkansas Ozarks, Mr. Two-Bits in Ben Hill Griffin, and the Cockpit in Carolina.
The history of victory, the geography of supremacy. The SEC is not merely a conference - it's a league of its own.
Fire up the grill, put the beers on ice - its time for some good ol' SEC football

I was going to place my first smart comment in the other thread, but it really is best ended with the info
pointing it to this thread. I guess I was gonna say "No thanks, I wouldn't fit in at that new thread."
I think I will start it early.
That Roll Tide image is just plain awful. I know it's hard to combine Tide and Elephants, but that is just weird.
Although it does seem a good image for saving African Wildlife from slaughter or something. Nothing against
UA, but their artistic fans need to go back to the drawing board with that one. :D
I was struck to see 25 first place votes (I imagine that's what that means) for USC.
Granted the pre-season is famous for meaning nothing, and likely less than nothing.
But I think Lane Kiffen is not going to be able to field a team talented enough to
overcome his tendency to be a total loser, douchebag, Baby Huey-lookin MF.
Now, I know nothing about football, but I do know how to string a curse word together.
And to me, that's as good as it gets on predicting success or failure in Division 1 football.

I gotta agree w/ya Brad, I laughed when I saw USC in the top 5, let alone ranked #1. They might have the talent to be there, but Kiffin has literally accomplished NOTHING. He'll flop big time and I can't wait to watch it.
Similarly, I think Georgia is way overrated. Yeah there schedule is a gift from God but Richt isn't an elite coach and will never get them over the hump. They'll never win a national championship and I highly doubt an SEC one w/him at the helm, even with the advantage of a cupcake schedule.
I'm confident that South Carolina will represent the East in Atlanta and am oscillating b/w LSU or Arkansas to represent the West/win it and go on to play for a national title. The Hawgs, where I have just begun studying for my PhD, have LSU & Bama in Fayetteville.
Prediction for the National Championship game if you put a gun to my head now:

Agree. Rough win. For some reason, Vandy ALWAYS gives them a fit. They better get it together or it will be a very long season.
Good luck Saturday.
Since no one wanted to give me any slack over a pass interference call that went uncalled
against LSU 3-4 years ago, I am gonna come down on the side of the poor Vanderbilt
Coomodores for the unbelievable missed call driving in the 4th quarter. In real time I did
not see it, in slo mo, the ref's head isn't QUITE turned enough to see it. But that was a
rob job for sure. As I told everyone when the Tigers got jacked and lost their chance
to play for it all on a similar call then, I will say that you can NEVER let your game ride on
one call. If you want to win, you have to score enough to negate any missed or bad
calls. Vandy didn't get it done. But it's a shame such a blatant hack ends up going down
in the books as a good pass defense and an incomplete pass. Congrats to the Cocks
fans, I could care less about Vandy. I do feel bad for em though.

Any consensus on which game to watch this afternoon?
Options appear to be: So. Miss at Nebraska. Bowling Green at Florida. Iowa at No. Illinois. Miami at BC. Colorado State at Colorado.
Gotta say that none of these excite me
Whew, the tide raised up a snot bobble on the poor Wolverines. Almost as tough to watch as my poor old Alma Mater
Southern Mississippi getting their a55es handed to em. USM is always game, though. They really started the now

for many decades.

The first half of the USM game was pretty entertaining. They missed two good touchdown opportunities late in the 1st half and Nebraska (especially Martinez) proved to be too much.
Really enjoyed watching the Auburn/Clemson game last night. Probably one of the better games this weekend. 'Bama beat up on Michigan (no surprise there). I kind of wanted the Big 10 to put on a better showing though. Bulldogs, LSU, Tennessee looked good.

I'm wondering how deep on the season the Michigan QB will make it? He appears to be tough, but got his bell rung hard on several plays that were not very wisely executed. Taking the chances he took (for a QB) carries a high risk of season ending injury. I appreciate that he was the one that probably stopped a TD on the interception, but he may want to practice his tackling a little (granted QBs rarely need to tackle). I was greatly impressed with Michigan's punter! Boy could launch that football.
Is it just me, or is it a little early to start pushing Hiesman candidates?
I have to say, I thought the Big Ten refs called a much better game than I'm used to seeing from SEC refs. Still too many penalties for Bama. A new year, new players, new rules in place, but Bama will need to work on reducing the penalties.

09-02-2012, 11:52 AM
SEC is going to be tough again this year. Big Ten doesn't look too hot other than Ohio State. I'm a huge Husker fan and was impressed with Martinez's evolution from last year but time will tell how they end up. Braxton Miller looks amazing. He has Heisman talk all over him. But this is an SEC thread. Sorry for hijacking.
Mr. Ed
09-04-2012, 11:22 AM
Bama #1 in AP Poll!! Is Georgia for real this year? Looking at their schedule they have a decent shot at going 11-1 heading into the SEC championship, but it's the SEC so you never know. I hope they put a whooping on Mizzou after one of their DTs said they play "old man football". I think Mizzou is going to have a rough welcome to the SEC.

Boy did Florida look sloppy, way to many penalties. I was not quoting scripture either when Bowling Green drove the field on our "team strength" defense for that first score. Positives are that Gillislee looks like the real deal and I think we made the right decision in giving Driskel the starting job.
Really looking forward to the A&M game next week. I have no idea how we will perform and I think this is a crucial moment for Muschamp. Would not be good to lose in College Station and then have to turn around and play at Tennessee.
I'm cautiously optimistic that Florida will pull out a close one and win by a field goal :tu

Can't wait until all you holier than thou guys eat your words when MIZZOU puts a surprise whoop ass on all your teams. All you guys and your teams are cocky and have no where to go but down. Walk into the ZOU thinking you have the game won already would be a huge mistake. Missouri has no where to go but up.
North Carolina thought they were going to walk into the Independence Bowl last year and win just by showing up. Listening to the joke they call sportscasters, they dogged the crap out of MIZZOU about how tough of a loss this game was going to be because no way they were going to beat NC. By the second half the idiot sportscasters and the entire NC team had no idea what was going on or how to deal with it.
Georgia is going down in Columbia on Saturday and I will be there to enjoy every minute of it.
Missouri is 19-8-1 all time against SEC teams. This includes a very impressive 7-2 record against SEC teams in bowl games. Just recently Missouri beat South Carolina in the 2005 Independence Bowl and beat Arkansas in the 2008 Cotton Bowl.

Glad to have some input from one of the new SEC teams. Not sure where the hostility came from though
1.) How are we all "holier than thou"?
2.) Isn't every fan a homer and optimistic about their team, guess you would call that "cocky". "Georgia is going down in Columbia on Saturday" seems pretty cocky to me
3.) All our teams have nowhere to go but down? Have you ever watched Vandy or Kentucky or Ole Miss play? As a Florida fan, I think the Gators can go up considering our 7-6 record last year
4.) North Carolina is not in the SEC. But congrats on beating a basketball school
I think if you didn't come in guns blazing and managing to insult every team and fan of your new conference in a Lane Kiffin-esque manner you'd have been met with a warm welcome as a Missouri fan.
Nonetheless, I hope y'all do beat Georgia this week

Football season is time for talking smack. Wasn't being hostile just having fun and butting in. You know how passionate everyone is about their teams. Any team no matter how good is beatable any time they walk on the field is all I am saying. The MIZZOU can't compete or handle the SEC talk is just old and it isn't just fans. Some of these sportscaster guys are so biased it drives me nuts listening to them. I think MU will surprise a lot of people and doubters this year. If any of you come to town for a game hit me up. We might wear different colors but we can smoke some sticks and annoy the crap out of each other talking smack. I will be at every home game this year. Can't wait to see all the new teams we play.
By the way Georgia is one of my favorite teams to watch because I love the way they play. Really excited about Saturday's game. I am also a huge Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
P.S. - I know NC isn't in the SEC. Was just making a point about the doubters at the time including the sportscasters.

As a Husker fan, I hope Mizzou chokes on their new venture in the SEC. I work with alot of loud mouthed Tigger fans and they never have a valid argument on why they think they are better than the Huskers. I back up my arguments with facts, they just say NU are cheaters and full of criminals. Hope the Dawgs put a hurting on them.

Actually, there's only one of us that fits that bill, but carry on...
Hey now wait one darn minute....... :r
PERSONALLY, and I will get no help here, I kind of LIKE the attitude. Misguided, sure, and Michael, classic line,
congratulations on beating a basketball school, lolol...
But that kind of bravado and challenge is what makes this thread so popular throughout the year. I could care
less who I insult in SEC 2012 thread, and they F-ing KNOW IT. This is not a thread on how to cut a cigar, it's a
GD football thread. And the SEC at that! WE ARE football, you can bet we ARE holier than thou. As Michael
always points out in post #1, the records speak for themselves. The best game of the year for Ole Miss is when
they go to some bowl and murder some team that considers them the bottom of the SEC and treats em like it.
People here call me obnoxious because A.) I am, and B.), I pull for the team they consider the most objectionable.
But they, like the classic bible quote, can't see the log in their own eye. Is ANY SEC fan worse than a Bama lover,
for whom total obnoxiousity is simply fandom? Who else would go out and kill an innocent grove of trees to snub
the other team? THAT'S FANDOM. (I guess there are times when stealing a goat is just not enough anymore.)
But you tolerate me and I tolerate you because we have to. This is a civilized board with civilized rules. I have
the right to be as bad as you. And in the end the only one I ever permanently put on ignore is not even a SEC fan.
It's all good as far as I'm concerned. Sure the Championship game hurt badly for me. I never dreamed it was possible
to lay an egg in that situation. But we did. (and by the way I finally found out what "the Ship" was....that confused
the ship out of me.) I thought they were implying the Superdome looked like a spaceship, lol. CHAMP-ion-SHIP...derh.
Talking ship is what we do on this thread. I am cool with ALL OF IT. But this year we will see if those who dish, can
also take, ship. This year, however, I might not talk too much about Bama-LSU before the game....that game in the
dome really messed me up psychologically....and I didn't have much farther to go in that regard.
And I DO have to say, ONE DAY I will let that Auburn Tree issue drop, but I just can't yet.
I am a true lover of nature and my jaw dropped when I heard how low a fan would stoop
to get a dig on another school. I am sure alcohol was involved, and low intellect, and
maybe a serial killer, instead of killing coeds, found another outlet for his kitten-killing
urges. And I do understand that it in no way represents the level Alabama fans in general
are prepared to drop to hate on Auburn. But it is a HUUUUUuuuge deal to me still, and
again, one day I will just drop it. But as of 2012, not yet. :) That was just wrong on
every level and it is nearly impossible to shake it from my head. I grew up in a city that is
renowned for it's beautiful thousand year old oak trees, and I can't imagine an idiot could possibly
believe he had the right to kill something that could have been alive LONG before his parents were
conceived and should have been around hundreds of years after he was gone. Its just not right.

What is 100 yards long and has 3 teeth? The front row at an Alabama home game.
Did you hear about the Rebel fans that missed last years game? They saw a sign that said "LSU LEFT" so they went home.
Why did LSU replace the stadium grass with astroturf? To keep the cheerleaders from grazing during the games.
What is the definition of safe sex down at LSU?

MSU is looking good. Looks like they couldfit into that second tier in the SEC this season. They have a decent shot at going undefeated and being in the top 25 perhaps heading into their game @ Bama later in the season. Looks like it's going to be a long year for Auburn. The Game Cocks are looking good too (although it is against ECU).

Whew, glad my Gators got outta there with a win.
My confidence in Muschamp is greatly increased, half time adjustments is the mark of a good coach. Dominating the line of scrimmage and running the ball was the difference in the second half. Watched the game with all Arkansas fans here in Fayetteville and a few that were talkin' trash about Florida had to eat there words later on. Hated to see the Razorbacks lose though, was hoping to see a top 10 matchup w/a crazy atmosphere next week when Bama comes in but it'll be a little less so now

Yup. That was the story of two halves for the Gators. Manzeal (sp?) from the Aggies was rolling in the 1st half and it looked like A&M D was too much with all the sacks. I think that missed field goal that was brought back from the timeout was a nice little momentum shift toward the Gators.
Oh, and the poor razorbacks fell out of the Top 25!!!!:r

Looks to me like the teams that COULD play well really did, and the teams everyone
is iffy on played iffy. I was proud of LA-Monroe, nice work, really kicked the intensity
up there and got out with a win. That will Help Tulane's Strength of Schedule a bit.
LSU took care o business nicely, UF made me a half-believer. Got to give it to UGA, too,
I really don't care for em much but I like watching them play. LOOKED like the new kids

I live in Missouri . I root for the Huskers. Why? Because Missouri wouldn't know a good football team if it bit them in the ass. Some of us in Missouri have taste. The others root for good ol Mizzou. And speaking of a basketball school, isn't that the only sport the Tiggers are "decent" at? But I digress. Nebraska fans can sleep comfortably knowing Mizzou will never be in the same class as NU. Good luck and enjoy being a cellar dwellar in the SEC, much like you were in the Big 8.

Thompson was spot on. He may not have the legs that Shaw has, but he is comfortable in the pocket, damn accurate and can routinely drop them 40yds deep.
No word on Shaw yet. I think he will be rotated in vs UAB. I'd rather they did not play him the whole game to make sure he is 100% healthy. I wish they could get him as comfortable passing as Thompson.

I would not get too down about it. It is called an upset for a reason and there is usually at least one huge version like this somewhere in the NCAA every season. SC was the chokapotamus a couple years ago when Vandy was pure festering garbage. Just one of those games when nothing goes right (or you substance dependent QB thrown 6 INTs). The piggies have a strong team and should bounce back.

I like the grit Florida showed last week and I think that as a team their confidence in each other and in Muschamp and the coaching staff increased dramatically. The key will be if Gillislee can pound the ball and take the pressure of Driskel while simultaneously keeping UT passing attack off the field.

Funny when photos don't tell the correct story. Every single lot but one, even those very, very far away were absolutely packed and partying for hours before kickoff. The only one that wasn't was the closest lot where only those that have had season tickets for like 60 years get to park there (basically the Mizzou football version of handicap parking for old alumni).
Most GA fans were great to talk to and it showed they love their football. However, I sat next to the GA section and there were a handful of fans that were the most classless I've ever seen outside of a KU fan (not classless meaning that they enjoyed the victory, that is expected and should happen, but classless in what they said, how they treated Mizzou fans, etc). Like pushing Mizzou fans out of their seats near the end because they "deserved" to be close to the field because they cheer for a real football team, etc. The fans sure did change when Mizzou went from leading to choking away the game. It wasn't getting "SEC'd," it was piss-poor play calling and coaching when it mattered most. Who the hell punts in GA territory when it is 4th and about an inch and then decides to let the punter run on a fake deep in your own territory on 4th and 12?

I was at that game, my first Arkansas game as a matter of fact, and it was quite rough.
But I left in time to see my Gators play great again against a good Tennessee team in front of their own fans who, by all accounts, were highly confident of a Vol victory. Once again, Muschamp and the coaching staff made great half time adjustments and the team showed poise and toughness for 60 minutes.
And boy did Jeff Driskel grow up before our eyes!! Played like a veteran.
Am I saying Florida is back and ready to challenge LSU and Bama? No, but we're taking great strides in the right direction w/playmakers in the form of a talented QB w/resolve, a big time ball carrier in Gillislee, and a big play threat of Burton. Defense has improved significantly too.
As they're ranked now Florida still has to play #2 LSU, #4 FSU, #5 UGA, and #7 USC so we got a tough row to hoe but don't count this team out of the East race :D

That Mizzou pick didn't work out too well did it?
Mizzou played a piss poor game. Our Off. Coordinator apparently has four plays and can't adjust, and as much as I like our QB as a person (the dude is a complete boyscout), it's time to put in the second string guy who can actually run the offense and make some passes. This season is already a loss so we might as well give the QB of the future the starting time.

That was actually the complaint Mizzou had after the Georgia game. Apparently, Franklin's helmet kept getting yanked off when he was at the bottom of piles so he'd have to come out. In hindsight we probably would have been better off if it had happened even more. :r

I have to agree with your basic line of thought here. I think the players don't have their head in the game because if the coaching change turmoil. And, while the current coach's financial Problems are not team, coaching or school related, the have to be taking a toll on his concentration level. Talent is there. It just needs someone to focus it. Bama went thru the same thing for almost 2 decades. Hopefully it won't that y'all as long.

Should be a SEC East Title on the line for that game unless something stupid happens to either of us next week.
Yep. Some of my delusional Gamecocks fan friends are already jibber jabbing about a national championship. I suppose in all of their excitement, they forgot the absolutely brutal schedule that USC has for the next few weeks. I am pretty sure they can take down LSU on the road, but the Gators** on the road will be a challenge. I am reserving all National Championship talk until after October 20.
If they continue playing like they did last night, I think a NC game could be in the cards for this year. BUT....I am a 34 year fan and am well versed in how inconsistent they can be.
** I am still not convinced of the UF hype. Like USC, they have played no-one, really. USC beat a grossly overrated GA and UF beat a LSU team that is on a rapid spiral downward. That is it. IMHO, LSU doesn't even belong in the top 10 any longer.

With the schedule we have, a NC is possible, but if you dont take it one game at a time you wont ever get there.
Im actually thinking of going to go to FL if we get past LSU, but i also believe the UT game isnt going to be as easy as everyone is thinking.
That being said, if we get past LSU and UF, we are going to def be in the NC mix.

Physically punishing offensive line and a strong downhill runner who dominates the second half. A defense that is relentless. A great coaching staff who makes crucial, game winning adjustments at halftime.
Although that has routinely been Bama and LSU the past couple years - its the Gators this one!
Plus FSU and Georgia went down so my football weekend was outstanding :D
And day-um if USC don't look awesome. That'll be another great SEC matchup :tu
I was pleased to see UF looking not just better, but quieting this kind of general disbelief in the SEC ranks.....
"UF LOOKS like they might be able to get out of their own way, but once they meet (insert your homer team here)
comes to town, we'll REALLY SEE what they're made of ". Likely not surprising given the weak showings
over the last couple of years. They looked like the genuine article to me this weekend. I have no baseline for
South Carolina....not familiar enough with them. "Better" certainly goes without saying it would seem.
How's the Undefeated Clemson Team, the one the pundits had in the super bowl? (ahh, only lost to FSU...)

I've held the opinion during Richt's whole tenure that he is merely an above average coach who does not win the big game nor beat rivals (read Florida) routinely. If Georgia wants to be elite I can't fathom why y'all have kept him so long but as a Florida fan I love it :tu

Well, Ole Miss got their first SEC win in two years. And Auburn is in a free fall.
Oh..... Oh..... Oh..... Spurrier almost threw his hat down.!!! Got close. Had it in hand, just couldn't let it go!!! Vandy isn't going down as easy as Florida probably thought they would.
Bama's defense pulled them thru, especially after that 35 minute lightning delay seemed to stiffen up all the joints on the offense.
Sideline babe on the Tenn/Miss. St. game has on enough makeup to start her own counter at Macy's!!!

I rarely root for LSU, but I'd like to see the Gamecocks lose because my wife is from Charleston. Even if the Gamecocks pull another one out it's been a very good game thus far.
Bama must have went into the locker room and had some early celebratory brews or something during the break, they were making mistakes and just moving slower when it was time to come back. Thankfully the Bama defense is a beast or that could have gotten ugly. Oh well now maybe people will shut up about how Saban was trash talking the hurry up offense because his team can't defend against it.
It's hard to believe Auburn was NC 2 years ago, they look worse than I've ever seen them. When beating Vanderbilt is your big chance at redemption and It's looking like a long shot, you know the season is in the toilet.

The LSU game was one heck of a battle. About the only way to describe it!! LSU's pick with about 4 minutes left was, in my eyes, the turning point. Not many games go that deep waiting for a turning point!!! It was a hard fought battle on both sides, for sure. I'm disappointed because I never saw Spurrier throw down his visor!
I thought, from the early play, that the Tennessee/Mississippi State game was going to be a Miss St. blow-out. But Tennessee hung in there, and made a game of it.
Bama better have it's "A" game in place when they play LSU and Miss.St., or they will be handed their head. LSU seems to have their head back in the game, and any team that takes on Miss. St. based on what they have done in past years is sure to get a very rude surprise.
Wildcard team that could throw a wrench in any SEC contest would seem to be Vandy!!! And, if South Carolina is a great team, they will need to step back to the plate for the rest of the season, and come back strong like LSU did against them!
Auburn? What can be said here?? DAMN, guys, get some leadership! You have good players. Don't know what the "funk" is that has infected them, but it needs exorcising!!!
The SEC Championship game participants??? Who the hell knows, at this point!!!

I think the end of the season is going to be a different picture than what we see right now. For one thing there are several teams who look good because they've faced a string of crap opponents and haven't really been tested yet.
The Gators look the best so far IMO, they beat LSU for one thing, Gave A&M it's one loss so far, and held Tennessee to their lowest points this season, say what you want about Tennessee but if they had a defense to speak of they'd been in the running.
Who the hell knows about Alabama they haven't really done anything so far and the only teams on the schedule that aren't wildly over rated or downright terrible are LSU and A&M. Also I think Saban is having trouble keeping his players overconfidence in check. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Alabama go undefeated in the regular season only to be trounced in the SEC Championship and lose a bowl game, again.
USC is in the same boat as Alabama, except they lost their first big test, ours is still to come. I don't count Georgia as a test because after the Tenn game everyone knew who GA was and I don't think anyone was surprised when USC smashed them to little bits.
LSU is good but inconsistent, they got better after losing to Florida and I think they have the best chance to keep Bama from going undefeated in the regular season, although as an Alabama fan, I hope they don't.

What are y'all thoughts on the coach's on the hot seat?
Most common rumors are that Dooley is out at Tennessee, I think Chizik can get fired if Auburn only gets 3-4 wins, and obviously John L. is out at Arkansas while Kentucky might wack there coach as well. Georgia seems to be content with a coach who can never win the big game nor get them over the hump so I guess Richt is comfortable
Thoughts about replacements though?
Being in Fayetteville the rumor is that Charlie Strong is the favorite to get the Arkansas job, which as a Gator I'd be happy.
Y'all think Petrino might come roaring in on a motorcycle to one of the other coaching jobs? I think Knoxville would be the most likely :2

Do you guys even remember, Phillip Fulmer was FIRED the year RIGHT after winning the

That is the funniest thing in the world to me, not being an orange-head. And LOOK at the carnage in the wake of
that decision. I was thinking, "Why on earth would they fire Phillip Fulmer?" Being an LSU fan, I was always well-
schooled in the coaching carousel back when I was a kid. After that, it quieted down considerably, lol, although

Dooley, gone, they want his head over here.
John L Smith, tossup....no wait, gone, his finances and sad story are all over the websternet.
Chizik, Stays somehow.
But LSU fans at least understand they can't win the NC every year. It is my firm belief that the
bama crowd believes they should be winning it every year. Not too long ago they were the laughing
stock of the league with a handful of hapless coaches. Now with Saban they have quickly let all
that fall away, and one person here actually told me that they are basically the Notre Dame of the
SEC, with too high a set of standards to ever be mired in athletic controversy or questionable character
issues among players. And shockingly, I believe Saban will be there for a while, too.

As to the Notre Dame of SEC.... That makes me throw up a little in my mouth (I do not care for ND at all!) Is Bama above getting into trouble with the NCAA??? HELL NO! I don't think there is a college out there that doesn't have some booster somewhere doing something wrong. That doesn't have some dad of a prospect shopping his son for $100,000. That doesn't have commercial retailers giving (or trying to give) players products. Too many avenues for a coach and staff to guard against all of them. And that's just on influences from outside of the campus. I expect every year to hear of some school that the NCAA is considering putting on the "kill list". The NCAA is a bureaucracy that has to always have some pot stirring to justify their existence. (Off subject- But about the same way I feel about NASCAR's admin.)

What, your week in the top 3?
That's the SEC this year.....Looka Miss State, hell, looka Notre Dame.
Thank goodness for LSU finding their run game, or I'd be sitting there with you.
I have this eternal question with LSU last few years....why is Spencer Ware the number one back?
He has been by far their least effective back for all of the years he has been there, but for
some reason, he gets SO many carries. I guess it could be either the punishment he dishes out makes
for a better 2nd half or maybe its the respect of the team and coaches for all the time he has been there.
But it always seems like LSU struggles until they take him out. That and our QB, looks like the are REALLY
trying to hide him I had to laugh when they showed that he had been given max protect and 2 receivers
running 10 yd comebacks for x number of a 5hitload of plays. No wonder they can never find any recievers
to throw to. But again, nice lucky win for the Tigers. A&M is making some noise in their first year in the SEC.

Is it a monumental task, sure, but let's wait til you guys get home from B.R. to notch the stick, hahah.

The only thing keeping Florida from being ranked No. 1 is the preseason poll and the inane marriage to it even after
the season starts. As great as Alabama is, its best win is against a Michigan team that is barely hanging around
in the AP poll.............(yahoo sports)
I wouldn't go THAT far, bama is tough. But I like hearing other people say they are a lesser team compared to UF.
Then I look at Trent Richardson and Mark Ingram and continue to wonder why neither one has set the league on fire.

Let me begin by saying I personally do not like to be ranked #1, target's on your back and nowhere to go but down. So I'm glad Florida is #2 but I think if you look at the quality of wins as it is now Florida has the best resume in the country to be #1 this week. The meat of Bama's schedule is still to come (Miss. State, LSU, A&M, Auburn). Am I saying we are better than Bama? I don't know if we are but they get the benefit of the doubt as the better team. I just think in pure resume at this point in the season Florida should be #1 but I'm glad we're not

One word - idiot
Rizzle, I am not sure you are due an apology yet, I mean he is nothing but a "student" at that university. :)
Have you apologized to me over the Tea-bagging incident at Krystal on Bourbon? :r
Couple that with the fact that his idiot friend came down all the way from Canada to hang out and buss up,
it's more Canada's fault than anything else. And of course, Punk and stupid are not the same thing always.
And if you check the transcripts, I never said he wasn't a PUNK, I said he was OUR punk.
ANYONE who does illegal things while also making a disturbance is an idiot, no matter where they go
to school. When you are getting high in your apartment, you do not turn up the tunes to 11 and you
damn sure don't try to break in through a security gate. These morons have a false sense of 'above-it-all-ness"
and people like that will always fall hard and find that they have very few ACTUAL friends or supporters
when the music stops.
I always liked Jordan Jefferson because he was from the same parish I grew up in even though he played
for the cross-the-river rival. But as a football player for LSU, I was rather embarrassed by him, at least
around here. It is VERY hard to go through a game with that feeling of impending disaster constantly
eating away your stomach lining.
---------
But in the end, YES, I DO apologize, at least for the implied feeling of superiority I get from NOT being a bama fan. :D

Good, cause the other one that called him a punk is dead to me. And also,
you were redeemed from that opinion on the night of the BCS CG if I recall.
Quick long story....
I was filming a documentary in Mississippi at a bluegrass festival. There was NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED.
But of course I was a college kid, and while filming a few segments before the festival, the mayor assured
me that if I kept the ice chest in my tent and filled soft drink cups from MickeyDs with the beer, no one
would ever care or find out.
Flash forward a few days to the festival, We have an ice chest full of beer in the tent,
our beers in cups, etc. But of course, I had to Honey Badger it all up. I took the speakers
out of my car and put them on the roof and cranked up my tunes, because I wanted to attract
chicks to my beer collection and have sex with them in my tent. But of course, the cops came through
the campground, and drawn in by my awesome tuneage like a moth to a beer, proceeded to bust up our
little three-man party, take our beer away and give it to the firehouse. My weak protestations of "but
the mayor told us we would be FINE" were ignored by the police and my grand, alcoholic plan was dashed,
despite me having enough actual common sense to know better than what it seemed from the outside that I did.
DO NOT PARTY ILLEGALLY while at the same time drawing attention to yourself.
Thank you.

I feel your pain. ;):)
I tuned in to the SEC game of the week this morning, and was a little surprised to see their ONLY item on
the "news from around the SEC" this week was the arrest of Mathieu and Jefferson. WTF?
Neither one of them has been on the LSU squad for 7-8 months, and one for almost a year.
How does this pertain to LSU? The SEC? I know that people have an interest in seeing this train wreck,
But I found it a real stretch to call it news from around the league. How does it affect the league in any way?
What does it have to do with any games being played in the league today? I guess I should not be surprised
by anything RAYCOM does. Or is it Jefferson Pilot? Or is it Lincoln Financial? Having worked for Raycom for
7 years, I am hardly surprised. They sucked then and suck now. RinKy Dink. Messed with my 401k 3 times/
They kept bumping my contribution up to 15% everytime I would reset it to ZERO. I finally had to complain
to the Montgomery home office, and even then they did it a fourth time. Should have reported them to the FTC
or SEC or whomever. F Raycom and everything they do.
What was I talking about again?

WOW, I am so sorry for my Gamecock brethren, and I know that sounds kinda messed up while HE ends up on TV
looking worse than Theisman. But I do not know him, and I know a lot of you. You have my condolences.
As for the young man himself, I am heartbroken. You play your whole life, looking for that big payday in the NFL.
You get badly hurt and yet you come back again, not wanting to waste a lifetime of effort towards that goal.
And this is the reward for that young man. Just heartbreaking. I doubt seriously he is going to have the heart to
say, I HAVE to rehab and get myself ready for the NFL. And who knows if he has the collegiate training to actually
BE anything in life, from the college/career perspective. I know that in these situations, someone somewhere should
end up basically giving him a paying career for what he tried to do for USC, but its just so sad. My thoughts go out
to him and his family. Poor kid's leg looked like a sock full of marbles.

Lattimore's injury was definitely heartbreaking, I hope it wasn't as serious as it looked, though I don't see how it couldn't be. He's in my prayers for sure.
Florida's meltdown was sad as well, although not in the same caliber. I hate to see a game decided by so many penalties. Florida beat themselves no question, but gotta give Georgia credit for capitalizing. Even though they were rough around the edges as well.
Auburn's loss was predictable, but the degree of the loss was just embarrassing. I'm a lifelong Alabama fan, I don't think I've ever had sympathy for the Tigers, but this season is pitiful, really pitiful.
Alabama beat Mississippi State, by a lot. I think the second string would have beaten them had they been in all game. All the talk about Mississippi State has been nice, in a "root for the underdog" sort of way. But honestly they were 7-0 #11 because of a very lucky schedule, against some teams who are traditionally good, but are terrible this season. Alabama was the real test to see if they were good, or just better than the worst teams in the SEC (Seriously, they've played the bottom 3 teams.). After today I can honestly say I think A&M are going to beat them, then LSU, then probably Ole Miss, Arkansas maybe not.
Next week Alabama gets their real test. I really can't wait to watch an Alabama game without my wife falling asleep at half time. Hopefully it will be a good game.

Lattimore is out indefinitely. Tore even ligament in his knee, broke the femur and chipped his kneecap.
As for the Florida meltdown, I feel like they played they same way SC played last week. They beat themselves. FL had 29yards of offense at halftime last week and were up 21 points. That speaks volumes. The SC defense was holding them down again in 2nd half until they simply gave up because of the offense being so horrible. After a while, I suppose they just through up their hands and said "why bother?". I still do not know what to make of Florida. The SEC East is a mess right now. Really does not matter a whole lot because I do not think either SC, FL or GA could beat Bama right now.

I didn't get to watch any football last week, so I can't say much about last weeks SC game. This week I was sad to see Tennessee lose, I know they lose a lot but they fight so hard and they've lost so many SEC games the last few years I'd just like to see them pull off one big win. As long as it isn't against Alabama.
Going into this Saturday I honestly thought Florida and Bama should be switched, seeing as how Bama hadn't beaten anybody yet. After this week I'm happy to say I feel my team is deserving of the #1 spot. Next week could be a different story.

That Florida-Georgia game was a bitter pill to swallow let me tell ya. I did not recognize the Gator team that showed up! Textbook rivalry game though - throw records and previous tendencies out the window. Murray and Driskel were trying to out Sanchez each other all day with the turnovers. I agree with you, Chip that the beginning was similar to the Florida-USC game but w/the Gators on the short side of the stick.
Looking on the bright side, if ya'll would have told me in August that Florida would be 7-1 and ranked in the Top 10 I would have been pleasantly surprised. Hey, with Georgia's capacity for utter failures they could get another SEC loss and Florida wins the East anyhow :D

But then all the hunters in FL won't have a good place to hunt...
I like what you said there Michael, its the same I tell the MSU people here. They had that tired old
"WE BELIEVE" kind of campaign crap running, and right up until about halftime against bama, I guess
they still believed. It is SO EASY to throw out so much in order to make ourselves properly upset about
that kind of loss. Forget that they are 8-1 for the first time since dinosaurs walked the earth.
Like an LSU fan that wants Les Miles' head because they were embarrassed in the BCSCG by bama.
HELLO!?!? You are 13-1....THAT'S what stands the test of time. Sure, it is painful to be embarrassed anywhere,
but that part will fade way faster than 13-1. We had more wins than BAMA, and yet we were not the
BCS champ, lol. What about that? I used to rag Michael until I respected him, "Where is the 'reload" you
used to talk about, pal?" "UF is getting trounced, I thought you just replaced the NFL guys with some
more awesome players." I guess that was all BS. Now the entire SEC is 7-1. Or the entire SEC that matters, lol.
And if anything it makes the BCS and the SEC even more interesting and fun. Its all good...support your team
and be glad it's still fall.

sense, but what he meant was there was no way they were going to
score a TD, so let's start thinking about the inevitable as soon as its
possible.

After watching A&M beat Mississipi State almost as badly as Bama, I'm honestly as worried about that game as the LSU game today. Getting through both A&M and LSU is going to be tough.
Western Carolina seems like a foregone conclusion, but after getting banged up by LSU and A&M who knows.
