So a while back i ordered a few Man'o wars just to test them out and admire their beauty. but after receiving them i looked closer and noticed that one of them had a hair coming out of it!

i'm not exactly sure how the hair survived the cutting of the end of the cigar - but somehow it did! At the time i hadnt really thought of leaving the hair there and asking Man'o war's management about it, and i instead decided to try to remove it. clearly i underestimated the torcedors' forearm strength, and the hair broke!

i'm regretting trying to remove it now that i think that i could have just taken a picture or short video and getting a reimbursement or even a little trust-restoring gift! What do you guys think i could have gotten out of it? (not that i wanted to cheat the company, but who would turn down a few free sticks?!)

Perhaps you might have started a new trend, and people would asked Man'o'War specifically for "hairy cigars". ;)

I was smoking with Darrell once and got I giant hair after cutting the cigar. I probably pulled three inches out before it broke. I said "hell, how much more could there be?" And lit it up. Never tasted or smelled burning hair so I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. you'd be surprised what you've smoked if you knew. In any given cigar you may find: spider eggs/webs, hair, twine, nails, beetles, beetle eggs...... It's a natural product that is rolled by hand in large quantities. Don't think about it, just enjoy it!

I find spider eggs give a cigar a sort of almond flavor, I often go out of my way to find them when in Argentina.

Not a fan of spider eggs in my cigars. Or hair. I will stick with leaves and twigs :)

The joyous sounds of snap crackle pop of beetle eggs incinerating melts my heart and produces a devilish grin upon my face.

Ive had this happen with more than one cigar, i smoked it without hesitation ...but you would be surprised what is allowed into stuff, for example this is in my FDA handbook

PEANUT BUTTER
Insect filth Average of 30 or more insect fragments per 100 grams
Rodent filth Average of 1 or more rodent hairs per 100 grams
Grit Gritty taste and water insoluble inorganic residue is more than 25 mg per 100 grams
DEFECT SOURCE: Insect fragments - preharvest and/or post harvest and/or processing insect infestation, Rodent hair - post harvest and/or processing contamination with animal hair or excreta, Grit - harvest contamination
SIGNIFICANCE: Aesthetic

These are the levels at which they must recalled for non-generic peanut butter

Depends. The brunettes are much more common and worth less. If you had one of the rare blondes though, the sky's the limit! And a redhead, who knows? :ss

SCARY. I'm with most of you... I don't want to know/care what is in it as long as it tastes good. I'd never leave the house if I worried about all the nasties that are out there.

It's a new feature, the cigars are being rolled with a built in draw tool. Just pull the hair out and you've got a nice clear draw.

I pulled what I thought was a hair out of a CAO gold once. I contacted the company, and sent along with photos. They sent me a nice reply apologizing, but informed me that it was more than likely pieces of the nylon string they use to tie the hands of tobacco together with. They asked for my address and sent me a fiver of different CAO cigars.

It just makes the cigar more complex and flavorful;)

Hair burning or beetle popping; neither are fun in a cigar.

...What do you guys think i could have gotten out of it?...You have nothing left to show anyone, so you get nothing. Not trying to sound harsh, but that is the reality. If you had left the hair alone I would have expected the retailer to replace the cigar. But that depends on the retailer.

BTW, one hair does not mean all MoW cigars are bad. You can get all kinds of stuff in cigars. Thankfully, this kind of thing is not a frequent occurance.

The best thing to do is not fret about it and go have another stick. BTW, I probably would have done exactly what you did and tried to pull the hair out. When that failed I would move on. Life's too short to waste much time on a bad stick, especially when their are so many good ones out there.

Of course i know that i can get nothing since i removed the hair, thats why what you quoted was past tense! and i know that its a rarity, i'm not downing the companies reputation at all, just mentioning the brand name for detail purposes :)
