Going to be Newport for a couple workweeks next month. I lived there for 4 years back in 90's, but didn't smoke cigars back then. What's the scoop on B&M's, smoking indoors, cigar-friendly bars/restaurants, etc? Any local-ish herf activity Aug 5-9; 12-16?

I grew up in RI and go back often to visit family. A couple of my favorite B&Ms are:

Regency Cigar Emporium. It's right on Main Street in East Greenwich. A little pricey, but they have a great selection of high end cigars. If you ask, they might even have some Opus in the back.

By The Bay Smoke Shop. In Warwick on Warwick Ave (near TF Green airport or whatever the hell they call it now). It's a beeyotch to get to, and it doesn't look like much, but the owner is a great guy. There's a lot of "local Rhode Island flavor" with the characters that frequent that place. Since you lived up there, you know what I mean! Best part is he's got beer for sale (under the counter, just ask if he doesn't offer right away).

Tobacco Road RI. It's right in Newport. I've never been there, but I've heard good things.

I don't smoke much while out in the bars, etc in RI, but the Twin River casino in Lincoln has a martini and cigar bar that's pretty good. They have a standard selection of sticks there, but last I knew, you could also bring your own with no problem.

Hope that helps!

Very much. Thank you. Didn't know there were casinos in RI now. Good to know it is cigar-friendly. Too many of them allow smoking, but not cigars. Ticks me off no end.

you have tammany hall in providence also. not a big selection of cigars but its mainly a bar. good food, good drinks and nice staff. I've never had a problem bringing in my own cigars.
