Every year, for the past 5 years I look forward to seeing the Hooded Mergansern arrive in our retention pond. It usually signifies that cool weather isn't far behind. This morning there are 5 of them

cold weather? See, Karma exist, you send ice removers to other botl's and now you will (hopefully) get a bunch of snow in FL :r

There are none out here this morning, but I did see a couple last week. They are pretty, and they sure are skittish.

Cool weather, you mean the 60 degree winters you guys have down there??? Thats beach weather in New England!!

In case you haven't seen the weather channel lately, We have had some cold nights lately. I had to use my driver license to scrap the ice of my windows a few days ago.
So much for global warming. :r

I looks like he just came from minnesota where all is now frozen and kids are playing hockey on our lake. I should have followed that little bugger to see where he was headed!

AWESOME! I've had blue, night, and green herons and wood ducks at my pond, never one of these beauts!

I had to use my driver license to scrap the ice of my windows a few days ago.
I used a credit card to scrape ice off of the window above the shower once:D
