I've followed the series ever since it started back in 2008...back when Walt actually had cancer and was making meth for a "good" purpose =P. It sucks that they're in their final season, but it's also good that Vince Gilligan doesn't drag it on where the story dilutes.

This is the last season? I guess I can understand that, stop it before it gets ridiculous and too redundant.

The first episode of Season 5 was amazing. It foreshadowed what is going to be happening later in the season. In the beginning where Walt is eating at the diner and makes his bacon into the #52, he isn't wearing a wedding ring. The show then picks up on his 50th birthday. This is why, I think, that it is THE best tv drama that has ever been aired. Such brilliant acting, writing and even subject matter. A cancer stricken chemistry teacher that works on the side at a car wash and starts cooking meth due to financial problems. Who would even think of that? Before the first season aired, I was super skeptical of this and thought it would flop. Polar opposite. I'm hooked on this show and I hope to God Brian Cranston wins some sort of roll for his amazing acting.
Also...Skylar is a total milf :tu

Another great episode. The symbolism and depth of the show is fabulous!
My guess is that Skyler and Walt's conflict escalates and he kills her but makes it look like a suicide. Nothing would complete Walt's transformation to a dark character than to kill a member of his family, who were his original motivation for cooking meth.

Add me as another fan of this show. I started watching this and the show Lost and well Lost got canned for me by like the 4th episode - it was one of those shows that goes nowhere and tells you nothing just to get your hooked on watching the next show, thinking you'll get answers, but you get nothing. Then I switched over to Breaking Bad, and this is one incredible show.
Well almost, the first few episodes of seeing walt in his undies while he had cancer and was going through an emotional ordeal dragged on a bit for like 3-4 episodes, but it picks up quickly and was non-stop afterwards. Great acting, great story, non-predictable, unique, it's great!
I hate skyler. She is a total nag and cheating #*@!@ and her persistence and shortsightedness to use walt's money just drives me nuts. Walt needs to handle her if he's going to be the bossman.

This makes sense, very plausable. Although I can't see Walt getting arrested as the end of him. I think he'll go up in flames along with nearly everyone he cares about. I took a lot of significance out of how casually he was watching Scarface earlier and said "everyone dies in this movie", plus I can't wait to see him use that giant gun he took out of his trunk in the prelude to the first episode of the season.
But if there is one thing for certain about this show, it's that you can't predict it!

SOOO Glad to find this Thread on here... I have been a Breaking Bad fan for years now... !!!
I loved the last few episodes... I'll list my top 5 highlights below...
5) I loved the insincere Smile Gomez gave to the lawyer when he was caught storing the money... "hey".... lol
4) I loved when Jesse was trying to talk Walt out of the business and we find out that walt's brain child, grey-matter, is a multi-billion dollar company, now we know why he continues to do it... "I'm in the empire business"
3) I loved the magnet vs. laptop episode.... Wonder if this has ever been attempted or succeeded in real life? "YEAH *****, MAGNETS!"
2) I loved the fact they brought back "Old Joe" the salvage yard owner, something about that actor or how the writers write his character just speaks to me, I liked how he mentioned "Miller time" and when Mike when on with his grumpy attitude he said PMA, Positive metal Attitude, totally cracked me up.
1) I love the face Hank makes on the shitter as he reads the W.W. dedication in the book, I wonder how hard Dean Norris had to work to make that "holy **** its right infront of me face" considering as the actor he knew what walt was up to all along...
Anyone else care to share their favorite Breaking bad Moments thus far? I'm sure we are in for a hell of a show come Summer 2013 :( :)

I think Hank will either confront Walter and Walt will say something to the extent that to do that would be to destroy himself, he will tell Hank that all his med bills were paid for by drug money and to expose Walt would be to expose himself, or Hank will start investigating and find this out and will be caught in the same situation.
My question is, once Walt knows that Hank knows, will Walt try to take Hank out himself? we still don't know who that Riacin is going to kill...

You're right, Hank is in this as much as anyone else. He may have had blinders on, but he benefited from the drug money.

I started watching Breaking Bad right around when the 5th season premiered. I watched pretty much every damn season on Netflix in less than 2 weeks, and started to get sad as a I realized this was the final season. Can't wait for the rest of the episodes to start airing! I need to finish catching up on Mad Men as well, come to think of it. Damn AMC.
ALWAYS late to the party, I just finished the short season 1, and have gotten to the point of our heroes
being in the trunk of the Capn-mobile in season 2. Not as good to me as Game of Thrones was or even
some of the other serials, but this is a great show just for the way that such 'scumbags' can be so heroic.
Or at least in the literary sense. Obviously as a dope smoker, I never thought of drug dealers the way
most people do, but to see them as the 'heroes' in the teleplay is quite a kick. And yet they are still the
people in the show you pull for.
Unique show and well worth my time. Of course now that the other kind of scumbag, the illegal downloader,
has been thwarted at nearly every turn, I guess I will either miss the seasons to come or pay for em.....dammit.

I know this is season three and all, but I am way behind....I just broke out in one of the biggest laughs I have
had in months, Jess is trying to get Walt to cook before his batch loses it's efficacy, and he is talking about a possum
in the attic...he said, "when did it become an O-possum? You know when I was coming up, it was just a possum...What's
with Opossum, I mean, it sounds like its IRISH or something..." I haven't laughted that loud in a while.

Interesting interview with Bryan Cranston in GQ magazine this month. He is on the cover and it was an interesting article about his career, his character and his experience working on this hit show for the last six years. Steve
"You know who I am, Say my name. Say my name."
"Heisenberg?"
"Your G-Damn right."
I read that article from a link from Yahew, thought it was great, his entire being is
perfect for the acting biz. Unafraid of any situation that the director calls for.
If you aren't THAT, then give up the biz. You wanna direct, go direct...you wanna
act, then be ready to give anything. Bryan Cranston has never shorted anyone onscreen.

It's odd that the first episode of season five starts off at his 52nd birthday, but in real time, Walt is just turning 51. So, season five must take place over the course of an entire year. Episode 9 honestly left me with more questions than answers. The broken down and abandoned house, the ricin, the m60, and the fake ID, the surprised neighbor....
I'm going crazy just thinking about all the possibilities. I am routing strongly against Hank though. Now that he knows, I'm dying to see what plan Walt cooks up to cover himself, or if he just gets up and leaves Albaquerque.

Yeah, oh boy! Jesse has totally lost his nut and don't know where to find it. Just like all the paperboy money he decided to freel out on. He plays a character that is truly split between good and evil, much like having a devil on one shoulder and angel on the other.
Skyler really surprised me, although had she rolled over on Walt it would have ended the series to quickly. Man when Marie slapped Skyler I thought I was going to fall out of my chair. Woot! To be continued.......

Agreed. I mean how true to life. Who wouldn't think about Scrooge McDuck-ing it, if only for a minute...
Bill Burr is funny, I'll say since this show I'll be looking out for him...
Marie slapping Skyler was pretty amazing, and them grappling over the baby, could totally see that going down, what surprised me most about that sequence was that Hank told her to give the baby back. We know Hank loves Walt's & Skyler's kids as part of "the family" but after the stay at the Schrader's earlier it seems, maybe only to me, that Hank wants a kid of his own, why Hank and Marie don't have kids yet? I don't know... but it seems they are getting a bit late in life to just be getting started... maybe one of them is sterile?... just a chance thought.
With that line of thought behind the following, is Hank telling Marie to put the baby down actually Hank showing his fear of Walt's episode ending threat? or do you just think the threat of Skyler's to call the law was enough to snap him out of his emotionality and think about the situation logically?
Another stray thought, the 2 cops that were "working" on Jesse in the interrogation room, they are pretty funny as well, not as funny as Bill Burr, but they definitely make good cop bad cop pretty hilarious...

This is the last season? I guess I can understand that, stop it before it gets ridiculous and too redundant.
I'll be watching the premiere tomorrow for sure.
Too late. It got ridiculous last night.

That last episode was spectacular to say the least...
"I watched Jane die. I saw her overdose. I could have saved her but I didn't..." - SO COLD!!!
"your the smartest guy I know but you are too stupid to realize he made up his mind 10 minutes ago, The name is ASAC Schrader and you can go fu#K yourself..." what a line...Hank went out like a man, crawling to the shotgun, never giving up, looking at the end of the barrel saying "do what you gotta do..." Elevates him to total bada$$ in my book...
as we know, Walt wants "Jesse-the-rat" D.E.A.D. dead... I think its safe now to assume that M-60 will be pointed at some members of the Aryan Brotherhood, the real question to me is, do you think Walt will find Jesse and let him go? or finish him?
I understand Vince the Producer didn't want to dilute the plot any, but they could have/should have given us more on Todd & uncle Jack. I would have liked to know more about a man that can pull off 10 prison murders in 2 minutes...
Anyways, we have 2 more to go and alot lot lot more plot to cover, IE. Lydia Rodark-Quail, Shes a must die in my book... :lr

We could talk about what may or may not have happened had Flynn not jumped into the knife fight. For a second it seemed Walt was going for blood...

Yeah I'm in total agreement with you. When he mentioned that he saw Jane die, it was then that I really started to see that this is more than just money...this whole drug operation has consumed and changed him.
I used to like Jesse, but now I have really grown to dislike him. I have this weird feeling that he will live to see the end of all this.
Something big is definitely going to go down this Sunday, because I feel like the flash-forward to Walt's 52nd birthday (episode 9) will pick up during next episode.
I did some research on the name of the last episode, and I have to say, Vince Gilligan gives the episode titles some very clever names. Ozymandias is the name of a poem about the inevitable decline of all leaders, and of the empires they build, however mighty in their own time. Indeed, that is exactly what happened to Walt now that his family has turned away from him, despite this whole ordeal originally being for their benefit.
The next episode is "Granite State" presumably where Walt runs away to. The final episode "Felina" is an anagram for the word finale. Gilligan describes the episode as "polarizing" so I guess we'll have to wait and see how things shake out....

Just began watching Ozymandias, last Sunday's episode. I've been skimming over many posts because I don't want to read any spoilers. What a slimeball Walt has become, is all that I can say so far. And Skyler is pretty devious when she needs to be as well. Can't wait till Sunday....Granite State. Maybe some explanation regarding that red Caddy with the New Hampshire plates? And that M-60 machine gun in the trunk?

OK, he must have talked to Saul about that guy who could make anyone "disappear". That explains the New Hampshire plates on the car. But why would he risk going back there to ABQ, and his former neighbor recognized him....Remember that he could be facing the death penalty because two Feds died in that shootout, even if he didn't order a hit on them, he's still responsible

No, but seriously, there are so many speculations, that I haven't the slightest clue what is going to happen.

And the more I reflect on it, the happier I am the episode ended the way it did. The song choice of "Baby Blue" was genius. They did a really nice job of tying up all the loose ends any including some subtle themes and objects in the episode; Walt wearing exactly what he wore in the first episode for example.

What an eye for detail! I never noticed that Walt was wearing the same clothes as the first episode, but now I'll have to go back and watch again.

Marie is also wearing black for only the second time in the series. Every other episode before hank died, she wore purple. I love picking the episodes apart! Vince Gilligan is really a clever producer...almost everything in every episode is put in intentionally. Even down to the songs you hear on the radio usually foreshadow or have something to do with the episode.

Great ending to an epic series! It ramped up from the first show to the last. Definitely in my top shows of all time. Right up there with the Wire. ...it'll be a while before another show can hang with BB.

One loose end that I'm wondering about: What happens to Brock? Does Jessie take him under his wing?
RobR1205
10-01-2013, 10:28 AM
Guess that's left up to interpretation. My assumption is yes since Jesse has been getting the s****y end of the stick for five seasons. Finally, the poor guy is free since Walt took all the blame for the crimes he and Jesse committed.
Great show! Non the less,i still hoping for alternate ending with cliche story... Like his cancer is gone... Kill everybody in his path even the grey matter couple... And live as a king somewhere in asia or elsewhere...

I thought the ending was perfect...even though some of it was foreshadowed, the writing was brilliant and left me completely satisfied. If they had gone so far to tie up ALL the loose ends (Brock, what happens to Jesse, Skylar, etc...) then it would have really detracted from the overall feel of the finale in my opinion. I don't need to know what happened after the events at the closing scene, I want to remember the show as it was presented...Vince's ideal vision of how the story ends.

I definitely feel they started a story arch in the Madrigal Electromotor direction and then scaled it back rampantly to come to a conclusion on time... I mean do you really think Lydia had COMPLETE control over her Czech republic cohorts? I definitely think there was more to that then they presented us... that being said, It was a good conclusion wrapping up ALL MOST all loose ends IMHO...

Yeah I will agree with you rob. The show was almost perfect, but certainly had its flaws. The ricin in the last episode, for example, would decompose in hot or boiling water in real life thus not causing it to poison someone like it did to Lydia. The madrigal company definitely could have Been explained better because when they first introduced it in season five, I was like: who are these people? But at this point, I'm just nitpicking at small imperfections in the show.

Well I didn't catch the ricin technicality but I really feel while they did an excellent job making Lydia out to be up tight and analytic one obviously can tell she merely has connections and thereby makes her money, her hands are too unsteady to get dirty. So I feel that even with her death there are some Czech's out there going WTF... Not that it really matters to Walt anymore, but if they dug deep enough it could affect Skyler and Jr.
Jesse driving off into the night is a nice touch, but realistically, if the cops were on the way after the M-60 report, they would have seen the suspect car speeding off, bashed by the front gate it busted through, stopped it and got him. Guess thats why you have to suspend reality a bit... All this speculation about him going to get Brock is a nice after thought, but if his mother was just murdered would the child not be in protective custody or a child care home? both requiring Jesse to face authority figures? like I said, its a nice thought but doubtful...
with no money, possibly a house that everyone in ABQ knows the location of, I see Jesse driving that car off into the desert, running out of gas, and as he hikes to the next town jesse dies alone in the desert of dehydration... <end scene>
also, the body placement of Walt and Jesse during the m-60 onslaught, how is it possible that walt would get hit and not Jesse with a round so powerful laying in the position they were?
these are minor details, but the 1, SINGLE, cliche that bothered me most about the whole episode... Jack played along only too well by letting Walt egg him on to bring Jesse to the room when accusing them of being partners, I think that exchange between Walt and Jack could have used some more tweaking, Wouldn't a man like Jack just not proceed to beat the piss out of someone that said he was partners with a rat? I think Walt could have/should have for realism, taken a punch or 2 there before making Todd produce Jesse from the lab...
And while most people got the idea of the wooden box dream Jesse was having, it was only touched on once before in the entire run of the show, I would have liked to see more of Jesse's simpler dream...
As for Walt, something that bothers me is while we did see him enjoy himself marginally, and we did see him gather a butt ton of money, we never really get to see him as a King-esque figure, except save maybe the 1 shot of him in the back seat of Mikes car when he says "because I said so..."
All the above aside, I thoroughly enjoyed the show, and much like the drug they were producing itself, it has left me twitching and wanting more... :lr
