I've smoked a few LFD's in the past and liked them enough. But recently I've been absolutely loving each one I have smoked, slowly pushing my Tat's, Oliva, DPG, and even A.F's further back in my humi to make room for all the new additions. Anyone else really dig Litto Gomez and LFD?

Absolutely. From small batch to 2000 cameroon's. I have started a pretty good collection of the more recent limited ed. Lines... I am right there with you. I am lighting a small batch #4 here shortly to watch the uk game.

I absolutely love the LG line, not so much the LFD. I do love the Coronados, though. I've got tons from the last few years.
Litto is genius and his LG stuff is absolutely brilliant, beyond words.
I just keep quiet about his stuff, it just drives prices up. ;)

Love me some LFD and Litto gomez stuff. The only one I wasn't really impressed with (and I only had one, so I am chalking it up to I got a bad stick), was the LG Small Batch #3. I really dig the LG Chisels, LFD Maduro Chisels and the LFD Factory Press. :dr :dr

the 2000 series is amazing. im not sure why they arent promoted more by LFD.

notes of wood, spice, sweetness, and even a bit of sassafras. bot what really struck me as exceptional about that cigar is the balance.

that being said, i am an LFD whore. there isnt a single blend that i have had from them that i was not impressed with. My favorites being Air Bender Chisel, Cameroon Cabinet no.1, and DL Maduro chisel.

or is it the LG lancero, 2000 el Toro, and Factory press IV?

damn...difficult choices.

So far my favorite is the Colorado Oscuro, from what I read it looks like a maduro but it is not. The process is kept hush hush but similar to "an over ripe banana" I was not overly impressed by the Small Batch #3 either Mac, the guy at the B&M acted like they were originally packaged in the covenant of the arch.

If you guys had ever had the opportunity to try a Small Batch #1, you'd still be talking about it. I managed to get ahold of 3 along the way, all 3 were in the top 10 smokes I've ever had. Just insanely delicious, complex, and they changed up every 15 minutes.
They're what made a Litto Ho out of me.
The '09 LG Oriental Oscuros are to die for, as well as the Coronado Maduros.
If I were stuck on a desert Island, I'd hope I floated in on a barge of Small Batch #1's. I'd never need another cigar, ever.

If you like the LFD line, you'll LOVE the LG line.
The LFD's are all one-dimensional, but solid. Some are crazy strong with ligero. I have a box of double ligero A's that are like a foot long and take 3 days to smoke. They're nice, but they just don't change up.
The old icepicks morph a bit, coronados do, mysterios do, but that's about it so far as LFD's go. That's not to say it's a bad thing, I just like a lot more of a carnival atmosphere from a cigar. :)
Regardless, they're all solid. I wish they weren't so crazy expensive, but they're worth every dime.
I suppose when I stack an LG, dollar for dollar against tats, viaje, Liga privada, and all the other expensive rage sticks, there really is no comparison. They cost the same but give up a lot more.

So, you'd put an LG up against those other brands? The changes are what I LOVE about certain cigars....those are my absolute favorites.....which is why I love the Viaje 50\50 ..black more than red...and the LP 9 is in my top 10.

I've read a lot of your reviews and the ones you have liked have always been ones I've enjoyed as well. I'll pick up some LG 5'ers. Any you guys think I should be sure to try?

I was on a Litto kick last week and I was going to finish it up with an OR LFD Factory Press, but my smoking buddy cancelled at the last minute so I decided to save it for later. Any word on how those are smoking now? I also had an Opus to see how it compares with the LGDs - pretty close in my book. My favorite of his (so far) has to be the LGD Oriental, but I'm out at the moment and you guys aren't helping me stick to anything close to a cigar budget. I've got some Small Batch #2 and #3s that I haven't tried yet, so my favorite might be changing.

Smoking a LFD Air Bender Maduro right now, so far another win in my book. It's one of those big ass Litto smokes which hopefully just means more goodness, but I do wish there were some smaller vitolas in the format. I'm burning through all my LFD at a pretty fast pace making decisions on which ones to pull the trigger on for boxes.

LGs are what I look to buy when I'm in a new cigar store. I usually have my own smokes but I will buy from the B&M out of courtesy. Maybe I'll get a box or two of LGs. Then I'll have to switch to another brand to get at the B&Ms.

Just had the LFD Factory Press II (I let my buddy smoke the OR), and my opinion is these are over their peak. It was still smokable, but didn't get good until the 1/2 way point. If you have them, smoke em up while they still have anything to offer.

Received my box of the L300 Ligero. These are the ones with the older LFD flower bands which puts them I think at or before 2009. They were a little on the dry side but smoked fine. The box was in perfect shape along with the cigars, I would probably pull the trigger again on some Oscuros (any) if they popped up.

Did the box happen to call them "Cheeroots"? If so I can tell you exactly where to find them, they're(at least supposed to be) an exclusive for us at Empire. Damn Mark you double tapped it:D

After about 2 weeks I'm finally over my cold crap I had. Received what looks like an old Ligero Oscuro L250 in a trade, the wrapped is way darker than the new band Ligeros but not as dark as an oscuro. I've noticed this lately with the old banded LFD's, they seem to have darker wrappers overall.

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/markinca1953/002-1.jpg

A couple of orders back, SeriousCigars sent me this LFD Double Press instead of a LFD Habano Perfecto. Not a biggy. I'm not sure which Double Press this is, as there is no mention on the SeriousCigar web page, except for the Prensado (6X52). The cigar in the photo is 5.5x 52 or 54 (I can never tell with a square press). If you know which vitola this is, just jot it down here. Thanks...

Great cigar (What else would I say:r) They can be had at Cigars at your price for cheap as well. But it's pretty complex, leathery, woody, and medium bodied.

Add me to the LG fan club. Nice article in recent CA on Litto and Ines, if you haven't seen it.
Devil site gave up a box of DL Chiselito Maduros for great price last week and I couldn't be happier. One of my favorite small cigars. I also love the Icepick, but have had trouble getting past the price tag. Great little cigar, but something in my brain prevents me from paying that much for a cheroot unless I'm standing in the shop, with them staring back at me.

But, on the other hand, the $9 Duena PL that I DID choose was fantastic.

I generally punch cut anything 50 rg and over as I did on the Barn Maduro. In addition, I was letting this stick rest about 1 1/2 minutes or so between puffs. Thus, it produced some really nice flavors over the 100+ minutes I spent with it. Again, a very nice enjoyable smoke:tu

Ive been punching my cigars as well lately to try and concentrate the flavors and I like a more firm draw. I have read where this can be done on a chisel but have never tried it. It said to punch only one layer/side of the wrapper/binder about 1/2 inch from the tip.

06-22-2013, 06:06 AM
I've had some Double Ligeros that are over 7 years old Ron and they are awesome! One thing people have to keep in mind is when the DLs came out they were one of the strongest cigars on the market. With all the DPG style Nic puros this is not the case anymore. So when aged the DLs and even L maintain the flavor and even gain more since the kick from the Ligero dies down. If you find an LFD with the old style band (pink tobacco flower) snag it, it should be at least 5 years old from the time it was rolled.

Not to change the topic, but to gauge things. I love the LGDs, Small Batch, Coronados, & Air Benders. I like the Cameroons. And there are a few blends that I have not tried.

There were the original lines that I tried in the late 1990s, but I have not tried those lines, or I should say, the contemporary version of those lines. They were pretty good, but I am sure they are not the same tobaccos and have changed some. I suppose I could try them, but I have been reluctant because I have not found many of them locally, and when I have, they priced higher than I was willing to part with at that particular time. I know where I could get them reasonably for a box, but I do not know that I want a whole box.

But, I have tried to like the Ligero & the Double Ligero and just have not been able to do so. They are not horrible, but to my palate they are rather one-dimensional. I found them strong and full-bodied but after about 2 inches I was bored. I did like the 452, but not enough to go out buy a box of them.

I actually find the Ligero to be a milder stick. There are several other lines like the Light (I think that is what they are calling it now) the Maduro cabinets are low on the spice and full flavor. Dominican tobacco by nature is pretty light stuff so with a few exceptions most of Littos blends are not as powerful as your Nicaraguan puros.

LFD Cabinet Oscuro is one of the best quality, best tasting, most rustic looking man's stick I've had the pleasure of enjoying. Looks badass just sitting there! Colorado Oscuro not quite as good.
