I do not want to share the company that made this cigar and it may be rather damaging to their reputation and as well all know this is a natural product and sometimes things get missed during the rolling process, although I am a little surprised this spider nest was missed...

I agree and it is a hard decision not sharing the company right now, but I will definitely keep you up to date. If they respond poorly I will have no problem sharing, but my understanding of the firm right now is that they are stand up guys and produce a typically quality product.

i think the brand of the cigar is irrelevant.
This more than likely happened well after it was rolled.
it could have happened in the aging room, in transport, at the retailer, or even ones own house.

That's what I thought, too, Sam. Then I considered it was under the cap. It must have come in on the leaf.
Regardless, it's real easy to imagine a spider nest being on a piece of tobacco that was aged in a barn in the tropics and it being missed.
I understand why it could be a bit put-offish, but the company has nothing to do with it. Cigars are a natural product. Odd things are going to get in there. A roller certainly can't catch everything, it's humanly impossible.
What's amazing is that it doesn't happen all the time, as in I've never had a spider web in my cigar.
Personally I'd pull out what I could and smoke it, because I can easily imagine all the other crap I've already smoked that was rolled up in my cigars. It doesn't bother me in the least.
Kudos to you Mychal for keeping a lid on the brand. If guys can't handle the thought of sticks, rocks, twigs, spider webs, gecko turds, and other crap in their cigars, it might be time to reconsider hobbies.

I smoked a "Spirit of Cuba" cigar yesterday that had the same type of thing. I cut the cap with a V cutter and pulled out a bit of what I thought looked like cotton. I wonder if it was a spider nest also or maybe it was just some cotton that somehow got rolled up in it. Anyway, I smoked it. Didn't like the cigar at all.

You think a roller could have rolled up a nest of eggs without noticing it?
Its possible. If the roller was not the one who destemmed the leaf, they could have easily just picked it up from a pile and bunched it with other leaves without noticing. If they were responsible for destemming that particular leaf as well as rolling its less likely for it to have gone unnoticed, but still possible. Easiest way to destem is to fold in half and pull the stem out, if the web was on the inside of the folded leaf it could go unnoticed fairly easily. These are handmade products made by people on somewhat of a schedule. Hence why we end up with a plugged cigar every so often.

Sorry you had to find that, I would be pretty weirded out too! But honestly, who cares what company this was? If he said it was a Liga, would you guys really stop smoking/buying them because of this thread? If it was a Padron, Tat or Fuente, would you really stop smoking them if you found out it was them? Sure I might think differently if it was from a company with a bad rep already, but I really could care less as sh*t happens.

The spider could have gotten rolled up into the stogie and spun the web after it was already inside. It would have been much harder for a roller to notice that.
Anyone ever hear the estimate of how many spiders we eat while we sleep? I believe it was 8 in a year. It was part of a bunch of statistics that were mostly debunked, but on this one, the expert said the estimate was probably too low.
Smoke more spiders! - so you don't have to eat them later.

I like spiders, camel spiders especially, but NOT IN MY FREAKIN' CIGAR THANK YOU. That would not be nice to smoke. Not to mention remarkably unpleasant for the spider.
I really miss having camel spiders around. Solfugids are among the niftiest of arachnids to keep, but there are not any in North Carolina. I would pay lots of moneys for the specimen in the photo, though I have to suspect it's a 'shop - that would be a SOUS (Solfugid Of Unusual Size) and a serious collector's prize.
Speaking of collector's prizes, I dropped back in mainly to give y'all an early heads-up on some stuff that looks seriously drool-worthy that will shortly be up for auction. But more on that elsewhere, and when I have permission to say more. Or PM me.
In the meantime, anyone who has giant camel spiders (alive and healthy; dead specimens are not wanted) is invited to send them over here. I'll be very happy to send some non spider infested thanks your way. Er, do check local legalities before you send anything, though - some countries have unreasonable and silly laws about what species can leave it, even when you're allowed to kill them by the hundreds and leave them on the garbage heap. Grumble mutter Australian venomous snakes grumble mutter. Want and can not have, but the folks over there can do whatever rude things they like with their native wildlife. They just can't ship them to someone who likes and wants them. Fooey.

Bah, you can't properly recreate the flavor profile of a Gurkha with a twig.
Unless you age it in moldy dirt.
Seriously, is it just me, or does anyone else taste actual earth in those things? In fairness, the extreme earthiness/dirt taste component is not 100% bad, and there are foods I'd even try pairing that stick with - mushrooms and truffles definitely come to mind. It's just not entirely my idea of good, so I generally pass on the moldy dirty twigs. Er, Gurkhas.
Your taste and mileage may of course vary.
