We're both back from our various adventures and in the same place for the first time in a long long time! Shawn called me up and proposed a herf and it seemed right to try to squeeze in a review, too.
Tonight's smoke is a couple sticks courtesy of shilala and the boys of course: Gran Habano by G R Tabacaleras Unidas.
Now, to start....

Unfortunately, I am trying to type this on my microscopic keyboard on my iPod. Wow, this isn't easy! I might not be as wordy as normal. ( I think I just heard a big sigh of relief from the Internet at large...)

Thanks for the welcome, Always good to get together after some what seemed to be long travels through out the Arabian Gulf doing the King's Work...
Tonight we are going to do a little review of some sticks that were sitting in the bottom of the cooler. They were calling out to us saying that they felt lonely tonight and as being we are some single men out here, well it is a date...
If you haven't been with us before this is a live play by play review from 2 didn't smokers. So bare with us...
To start out with they have been sitting in the cooler that hasn't been opened in a few weeks at 60% @ 70 degrees.
They feel great, not too wet, not too dry, just right
I am pairing mine off with a nice cold can of ... Dr. Pepper
Both of us are cutting the ends of the caps off. I use a 3 burner torch, toasted the end and fired her up.
Very nice taste seems like I taste the cedar or it could have just been the cedar tray it was in, either way It is nice. Little woody flavor at first draw. Nothing too over powering.
Next review at 1/3

Ok I just learned an important lesson - short replies are the way to go when using this effing iPod.... Just lost a small essay I had started....
Short version: 6" stick, maybe 55 ring. So far more mild taste than the look suggests, digging' it though

So I've been finding I really like the larger ring sizes on nice calm nights like this...aube it gives a better chance for a slower cooler burn? Bad for sure when you're sitting out on the fantail in 25kt winds, though....

I don't know, actually. That's just what what the wrapper says. ;)

GR = ? Gran Robusto?
I just googled it and yes it is that but the wrapper is different than what is on their site.

I just got your message, Shawn. Sorry I missed you!!!
I have seen that GR cigar. Black band, gold (silver?) lettering, gold edging, right? I have no idea what it is, either. I'm guessing it's some sort of shop bundle?

Not ready to call this one my favorite but it's pretty good. Like I said in the post that got eaten by the iPod gnomes it's a smooth even burn - good construction. Shawn's cooler seems to be doing a good job keeping these stored just right too
Glad you guys are safe :tu Welcome back!!

Well, the cigar's all done, so are we. I've been doing extra long days every day for weeks and this cigar was needed. It's exactly what I needed to end a pretty long day...so, I can say it was a good fit.
I think we're gunna hide a couple of these sticks in the bottom of the humidor for a re-do review soon, you know, just 'cause. :)
My final summary? I'm at a loss for adjectives at the moment, so as weak as it sounds, well, I'm giving it a strong thumbs up. Wish I could be more specific; I'll try to do so on the next go-around with these guys.

Yeah, seems to be a common problem out here with lots of us. It's hard on the girls/kids/families back home sometimes, too, little things seem to go all sideways and get stressful just 'cause of distance and time and whatnot.
Sitting down and taking a minute helps. Cigars are a good excuse to do that. Come to think of it - I'm wondering if a skype-herf might be in order for me and my girl here soon - maybe that'll help ease things for a minute or two?

Worth a try. Skype herfs are better than no herfs at all. Plus, I had a damn good time Skype herfin with Shawn awhile back.

I totally understand that the wives and kids are stressed too, but why add to the stress of the men out there? That goes for the women out there too and their men at home, no reason for unwanted stress which realy can't be resolved 4,000 miles away......Try the skype thing....maybe some "facetime" will caml her down....good luck bro.

She is alright. Just needed to blow off some steam and I was the one that got it. It's all good, just had to set the women straight, she knows her role now....
Well it sounded good in my head at least.
