I have really been leaning towards Lancero's and Lonsdale's lately. What is your favorite Lancero? CC or NC.

So far my favorite Lancero is DPG Blue or JJ.

PuffnStuff release Pepin Blue Labels are my favorite overall with Tat Especiales a close second, Pepin Blue Label Fundadore, Oliva Serie V, LfD Double Ligero and Coronado, Cubao #3, My Father, Pepin made Miami 8&11 and '32 Signature, El Triunfador, JdN Lancero, PG Reserva Exclusiva, Troya Aged Maduro lancero and Gran Habano #5 lancero are a few I enjoy.

Best one I have ever had was a Davi # 1. Of those that I have smoked more than a couple and a wide variety of years... Cohiba.

Older Trini Fundadores

Coronado Lance was really dynamic, blew away my pallette, almost too much smoke... must try again.

El Triunfador didn't rock my world, but it was excellent.

Oliva V is great bang for the buck. Little lumpy, soft.

La Gloria Medailles d'oro #1 is a great lighter smoke for breakfast, but great flavor.

Really want to try DPG blues lance...

All right, time for the stupid noob question. I've never had a lancero -- plenty of lonsdales -- and I know that is a hole in my cigar education that I will fill.

I don't mean to threadjack, but I'd love to hear why lanceros (particularly CCs) seem to be so highly regarded. What makes them so good?

Interesting to see this thread back up again, resurrected yesterday after having gone into hibernation last April.

I must say that I hadn't really been a big lancero fan before this thread - except for Oliva V Lanceros. I wasn't one to search them out. I have had quite a number of them since this thread, and there have been a couple that were noteworthy, but many others were not.

I enjoyed:
CCs: LGC MdO 1, 3, 4 (this was my fav of them), Trinidad Fundadore, PL Montecarlos
NCs: Oliva V, Nestor Miranda Special Selection

Lanceros that didn't impress me enought to do more than one of: RP Decade, DPG Blue, LFD DL

It is a great size though. I feel like I'm in a spaghetti western when I smoke one. :D

Didn't say it was a crap stick I just said if your Trifundadore was as good as the CoLa you probably got a bad CoRo. A CoRo that is on is a mind blowing smoke. The '01 Lanceros from recent sale ( Which I'm assuming it's from) are not the best examples of this stick.

The Tri is a nice smoke, but I've never once looked at it while I'm smoking it and said " WOW! This is what smoking a cigar should be like!"

With some of the current prices on these pups, much more than a $20 difference.
I just see it being way, way to cheap for something that will be good.

My favorite Lancero at the moment is also the only Lancero I've ever smoked... The Oliva V lancero. I wouldn't mind maybe buying a 5er of CoLa's to try out... I hear they are the epitome of the cohiba experiance.

The only lancero that I have had is the Nestor Miranda Special Selection. I was surprised that I liked it. I honestly thought it would start tasting like ash about 2/3 of the way through. I have an Alec Bradley Tempus and a Tatuaje warming up in the bullpen...

I keep meaning to, but one of these days, I'm actually going to pick up a Serie V lancero.

CoLa -- I've three from '01 that were OUTSTANDING. Never had a Davi #1, so I reserve the right to change my mind. :)
