The La Casita Criolla is a Pete Johnson invention and made from Connecticut broadleaf only. The cigars are rolled at the My Father factory in Esteli, Nicaragua. The HCBF is the largest from the three sizes in the line with a 6½x48 size, which makes it a short churchill according to New Havana cigars. The cigar has a € 6.50 price tag in The Netherlands.

The wrapper is dark and oily with a few thin veins. The band is small and different. The construction feels good and the predraw is fine. The cigar has a smell that reminded me of wood and hay. The cigar is difficult to punch due to the thickness of the wrapper.

I taste herbs with some sweetness and after half an inch something fresh too with a little bit of chocolate. After an inch I taste pepper with herbs. The aftertaste is spicy. There is some chocolate in the aftertaste too. After a third the chocolate gets stronger with herbs on the background.

Halfway I taste green herbs with some sweetness and chocolate. After two thirds the cigar gets more spicy.

This cigar lasted me and hour and a half. The draw is great but the smoke is thin in the beginning. The burn is great. The light colored ash is compact and medium firm. The cigar is full flavored and medium to full bodied.

Would I buy this cigar again? Yes, I like this cigar

Nice Review! What's the band around the foot? Never seen that on any of the La Casitas I've encountered.
