If you are near the Burg', do you eat at Primanti Bros

About two years ago 5 Guys started popping up like weeds in the Boston area. This place has great burgers and fries. The location closest to me recently got one of those really cool Coke Freestyle machines. It dispenses something like 127 different flavors of soda.

I pass one twice a day, to and from home.

I actually just posted here with the hopes that you might reciprocate and post in my pizza thread. Thanks!

There's one about 30 minutes from me. My friends and I go there a few times a month. It is kind of pricey, around 10-11$ for me, albeit is a large amount of food..well...fries

I get a double bacon cheeseburger with barbecue sauce, raw onions and sometimes jalapenos :tu

Agreed, not only are they over priced but I can name at least 5 local chains that blow them outa the water and I wont evan shame them further by bringing up In & Out burger. My guess is that people who praise them have only ever had McDonalds prior.. just my :2

I went their once. I don't get those slim Wendys like burgers. I'd rather have a fuddruckers 1 pound burger.

What a surprise! I really like Five Guys. Like In-n-Out too, but they are not in Oregon.

Oh well, as they say "to each his own" and you guys just don't know what the F you are talking about

Five Guys > In & Out

Not sure why everytime I see this discussion on forums, it always ends up FiveGuys vs In-n-Out. They are not even remotely close to the same type of joint. It is like comparing Outback to Ruths Chris.

Usually the response I get. They are not the same though. InOut is typical small sqaure patties like Wendys with limited toppings. 5Guys serves huge burgers with tons of toppings. They both make them fresh with 100% beef and it all goes on a bun. That is where the similarities end. Saying that they are the same is like saying that a Philly Cheese Steak from Subway/JerseyMikes/Lennys is the same as a Philly Cheese Steak from Pats/Tony Lukes.

...I dont care for either 5guys or InOut , Btw....

GreekGodX

Meh, they are ok. For a cheap burger they are good. Otherwise I could live without 5guys.

Had them in DC, California, Texas and in between. IMO, when they left the DC area they went down hill. DC 5 Guys somehow still manage to beat ones outside the area IMO, but still can't live up to what they were even as little as 5 years ago.

I have a Five Guys about 5 minutes from my house. I prefere to drive the 10-15 minutes to Juicey Burger. Same concept, but much better quality meat.

I actually tried it once when the Cerritos, CA branch had opened; and I did not enjoy my eating experience. Grant it that they had a Disneyland length line, but they had messed up my order twice, and the burger and fries way over greasy, and everything tasted like oil in the end. I also didn't know what to make of the peanut shells that littered the floor. I would rather much have In N' Out =).

I'm a big fan of Five Guys. I used to wonder what people saw in In-N-Out, but then I realized that you had to get the double double and wow, I didn't know what I was missing.

Really, I think they are separate but equal. They are two different animals. If I had to choose, it'd be five guys due only to their fries. IMO, In-N-Out's fries suck.

Had Dog Haus for burgers (and a dog a different day). That was great but it was almost too much. The beauty of five guys and In-N-Out is the simplicity. No frills burgers that just taste good.

I used to enjoy their burgers (Not even close to in'n'out) until one day...................... I ordered a bacon, cheese and mustard hot dog. Best hot dogs I have ever had. They split them down the middle before grilling them so they have a nice snap to them. They are pricey for a hotdog but you gotta try one!!!

Weeze and I stopped at the one in Kent, OH on Monday. We had to run over and return our cable box and had planned on picking up salads somewhere.
We got the lady sized cheeseburgers, shared a small cajun fry, and still couldn't eat it all. Man, they give you a mess of food for the money.
I love fresh cut fries, Weeze doesn't. She liked them good enough. They were right out of the grease and nice and crispy. I agree with you guys, cold, greasy fresh cut fries are awful. I'm sure they'd replace them in a heartbeat, but I've never got cold ones at any of the stores I've visited, which amounts to 3, maybe 4.

Blak Smyth
08-01-2012, 08:25 AM
I never received cold fries, but I just do not like their fries. They are cut too thick for my preferences. I like thin crispy fries, I have never received crispy fries at 5guys.

We have a 5 Guys located in the Westfield Town Mall about 2 miles from our home. A friend of mine kept hassling me about "you need to go there and try one." So, I went, I tried, and really wasn't impressed.

On the other hand, my favorite place is "The Habit" burger grill. Its a small California chain with a couple of Habits located in the Arizona area as well.

They make an awesome charburger with cheese:dr

My backup location would be an In and Out...

Yah I hate their fries, you should try a hotdog though :tu

I'm actually not too picky about a burger. I'm perfectly happy with a double cheese from burger king for $1.49. But I've also never eaten at a five guys/in n out before. There aren't any near me.

Just checked both location finders on their websites. Absolutely no in-n-out's. Closest Five Guys is 80 miles away.

No doubt they are over priced, but I have no better option for a burger. Well Red Robin has some good GuacBurgers but that's more of a sit down. I hate Burger King and McDonalds.

The prices are a bit high, but if a person buys a large burger, large fries, and a drink, it's FAR more than enough food for two people. Two people can't even eat it all, and off the top of my head, that's around 14 bucks. That's not pricey at all.

If you split the burger along with the fries it is totally doable, now each person gets a burger then maybe. Are we talking 2 bros or a couple out on a date?

Dave128
08-02-2012, 08:58 AM
I agree with splitting the fries, but not the burger. If my wife and I go: I get a regular burger, she gets a single and we split a large fries. Works out nicely.

I am saying I can eat a large burger, fries and drink no problem myself. I don't like the fries though but could do it to prove Scott wrong :r

Maybe I missunderstood Scott. Scott, did you mean 2 large hamburgers, 1 large fries and 2 drinks?

Typically the wife and I split the fries, and she orders a burger and drink and I order two hot dogs.
Or I get a burger and 1 hot dog. I get a bottle of water.

Good, but I prefer Fatburger.
The meat they use for the King burgers (1/3 lb patties) are different than the regular patties, and they are otherwordly; just amazing.
The triple King (3x 1/2 lb patties) is all I eat, every time. Just wish they still gave t-shirts for doing it.
