I think a lot of us like to try something different every night. But if you could only have a short list of beers - 5... 6.. 7... What would you choose to keep you happy no matter what you were in the mood for?
Choosing today, I would probably take:
Allagash Black
SN Pale Ale (my one sessionable, despite hating the term)
Smuttynose Barleywine
Souther Tier Un*Earthly
Stone Ruination
Backups:
Sixpoint Bengali Tiger
Oskar Blues Ten Fidy
Clown Shoes Muffin Top

I discovered over time (don't know how it took so long) that I hate IPAs...hate 'em. After the stouts, might be some porters on the list, guess that's who my tastebuds roll. :)

Honorable mentions could go to a thousand others but Sweetwater IPA when fresh is great but it fades rather quickly.

Not much unfortunately. I drank a bunch of last years (10.10.10) I just remember it being a very nice change of pace.
I'll buy an 11.11.11 or two next time I'm out.
What year of the Vertical Epic?
I've only had 10.10.10 and 11.11.11 but IIRC I enjoyed the 10.10.10 a lot more than the 11.11.11.
I could be mistaken but I don't remember buying too many 11.11.11's.
EDIT yeah I just looked it up. I preferred 10.10.10 over 11.11.11.

Right this moment in no particular order:
DFH 90 Minute
Deschutes Abyss (year doesn't matter, I honestly haven't noticed any difference)
Alaskan Smoked Porter (only smoked beer that doesn't taste like diesel fuel to me)
Sierra Nevada Pale
Pliny the Elder
Chimay Blue (belgians are a once in a while thing for me, this is the only one I can come back to consistently)
Stone Sublimely Self Righteous
Pliny the Younger (if this is purely hypothetical I have Vinnie from Russian River brewing this full-time in order to keep me supplied with fresh kegs)

Hopslam.
My always happy, always satisfied anytime list looks something like this:
Sudwerk DFU (unfiltered Marzen)
Sudwerk Pilsner
Deshutes Black Butte Porter
Serra Nevada Celebration
Sudwerk Hefeweizen
Stone Levitation
and an honorable mention to Ommegang Abbey Ale
There are other beers that might be higher on my favorites/best of all time list, but quite frankly, I wouldn't want to drink them that often.

I'm not a big beer drinker so I'll list some noob choices.
That is to say, I don't always drink beer, but when I do, I'm a hophead:
Burning River Pale Ale
Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale
Columbus Brewing Co IPA
I could be happy with those three.

Honestly, I like ALL beers, from Bud Light all the way up to the Imperial Stouts and Quadruple Ales. A list for me would be impossible, however, I could probably fill it nicely with some simple Amber Ales, something that isn't too robust but not too light at the same time. There is something about Amber Ales, they are refreshing, and easy to drink.
Anyone agree?
