Can someone please explain cbid a bit to me.

I get the general operation.

What I dont get is on the side, it says current winning bidders and it shows they paid $9.00 for a unit of 5 cigars.

This guy has 4 units available.

I bid $11.00 and didnt get the high bid.

Says there is 4 days left on the auction. High bidder at the end gets the smokes and then another package of 5 starts to bid on?

Guess I have never used the site before.

Could you post a link to the auction?

All auctions are posted and fulfilled by Cigars International. It's not like eBay.

If there are 4 units available and the highest winning bid is $9, you should be a high bidder on at least 1 of the lots for $11, assuming you only bid on one of the 4 available. So now there would be 3 at $9 and 1 at $11.

Edited for additional clarification.

There was a higher "max bid" on the lot than 11.00. thats what the cameo of buddy (or whatever his name is) next to bidders name.
It's easy to win what you want. Just bid more.:D

FYI check INTERNET pricing of what your looking at. Bids have been way overpriced lately.:tu

This is a good point and I hadn't thought of that. Someone could have set a max bid that was higher than your $11 bid. So what ends up happening is that you submit your $11 bid and the guys max bid automatically bids for him to the next highest increment and makes it jump to $13.

so those guys that got theirs for $9.00 held a 9 dollar bid for 4 days..................dont get it.

I'm guessing the 4 days is a bid time for the whole lot. So with that said, say I bid 9 dollars and someone else bids 11. How do they determine who wins?

Do they have to hold that bid before they are declared a winner of the item?

It looks like for some reason your $11 bid didn't take. Did you set up an account with your credit card payment information?

The CI guy to the left of each bidder does indicate they are using autobid. So depending on what their max bid is, it will autobid for them until it reaches that maximum.

Edit: The 4 days 5 hours time you are seeing is the time left on the auction.

I don't think I'm explaining this very well.

There are 3 winners for $9.00

How did they win for $9.00?

Did they have to hold a $9.00 bid for a set ammount of time before it declared them the winner?

There is 4 units up for grabs, three people won units for $9.00.

When did their auctions end?

There is one auction for 4 units. The current winning bid is $9. No one has won yet.

First come first serve unless the latter wants to pay more money. Be patient. You will learn when and how to bid to get great deals. Or just want it bad enough and dig a bit deeper in the olé wallet.

BTW this 5 pack has a real market value of 36-45 bux. It's a popular brand so don't expect it to go real cheap. (22-60.00) I'd guess. and yea people overpay all the time. Don't get in bid wars...you will loose.

No one has won yet. There is still 4 days and 5 hours left on the auction. When that timer expires, the 4 highest bids will win. That's why I'm wondering if maybe your bid hadn't been registered for some reason.

In this auction, the 4 lots are all at $9 right now, none have been purchased or won yet. If you bid $11 and the autobid for the current bidders is not higher than that, you will be one of the winning bids right now.

so the 4 highest bids win a lot or the highest bid wins all 4 lots?

If the highest bid bid on 4 lots, he wins 'em all.

The quantity that you would like to bid on is part of the bidding area. You can see the quantity that the current winning bidders are winning in orange in that section.

I've only snagged a couple things on the devil site. I only bid way below the prices online, which means I miss out on 99% of auctions. The best thing for you is to NOT get in a bidding war with someone. Always keep a mental note of what the best online price is. Keep it mind of shipping. I see a ton of auctions on cbid, probably the majority of the ones I watch, that end with higher prices than widely known cigar sites (CI, Cigar.com, etc...)

Just bid smart and your credit card will survive all abuse and your wife will not leave you. Unless you want that, then bid away.

I didn't want to seem like a jerk and post it, but what is posted above is the right answer. Click on help on the site and read all of the in's and outs of how it works.
