I decided to post this over here, but because I think it is cool and you don't really have to love hockey to enjoy seeing some kids take advantage of where they live & a frozen pond, to play the sport they love....

There could be worse ways to spend an afternoon after school.

Can't wait to get some ice around here!!! Doesn't look too good for us right now that we are going to get some ice, but i'm hoping.
My brother-in-law's old boss made a 3/4 scale hockey rink in his back yard, complete with old boards from a local rink that was tossing them. Lights hang above the rink so not as much shadows as if they were on the side. Great time when we play pick up game.

Great pics, love to see a bunch of kids out enjoying something other than a video game. Gives me hope for the future.

That is certainly one of the advantages of living in the great white north! Never played pond hocky but looks like a great time! Finally got to go ice skating with the wife in downtown Pittsburgh around the Christmas tree for the first time...that was awesome!

Thanks for the cool pics!

Go WILD! :p

And shorts?!?! You'll likely NEVER see that on a pond here in MN.

As a kid, we used to screw around on the rink behind my house (a parking lot flooded by the city), but I never did anything organized. It's been since I was about 13 since I was on skates. Don't even know if it would be easy to find them in clown sizes to fit me now.

Pond hockey is a way of life here in MN, though. There's a big tourney every year. It's a HUGE deal here, and there are literally hundreds of teams with over 1000 players. It's a cool things to see. Check it out here. (http://www.uspondhockey.com/)

Not to mention they would be REAAAALY expensive.

Have you priced out one man single runner bobsleds lately?

Hit a pond again today, good turn out. Grilled up some dogs and brats, had a few adult beverages. All in all, another good day!

I see the Little One has the same sweatshirt on as the last photos.

Looks awesome! I love the community socializing. Cool looking mountains in the background, too. A little too cold for me, though. It was 74 today here on the eastern edge of America.
