Andrew (BlkDrew) was kind enough to let me sample one of his fresh rolled maduros. I thought I'd take a few minutes and post a review as I had to smoke it this evening (it was calling my name like "Pookie" in New Jack City). So here goes...

Roxy Maduro Robusto

Origin: No clue
Length: 5.00
Ring: 50
Strength: Medium
Wrapper Color: Darkish Brown
Wrapper Type: No clue
Binder: No clue
Filler: No clue
Shape: Robusto
Duration: 70 minutes
Beverage: Evan Williams Honey Reserve

Construction: This stick had a milk chocolate wrapper. It was very smooth with only a few noticable veins. Damn fine job of rolling this bad boy Andrew. :tu

Burn: The burn was uneven and required a few minor touch-ups. I can only attest this to the stick being way too fresh. It first ashed at 1/2 inch, then about every 1/2 inch after that. This cigar burned pretty slow.

Smoke: This cigar gave off very little smoke. I ran the draw tool through her and she still only produced small ammounts of smoke.

Flavor

Pre-Light Draw: Very sweet, I pick up a pecan (nutty) flavor along with leather.

1st Third:
Very leathery, with a hint of sweetness. Starting out very nicely, except for the burn.

2nd Third:
Leathery taste is still present and a faint hint of caramel hits my palate. Not overwhelming, but enough to compliment the leathery taste. Reminds me of a toffee bar. Hints of sweet and bitter blend very nicely.

Final Third:
Caramel disappears and the only prevelant taste is leather. Strength picks up a little.

Conclusion: I wasn't sure what to expect from this maduro. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised. I would call this a medium cigar. The one thing it was missing that would have really made this stick outstanding was a hint of spice. Damn fine stick though Andrew. And I want to thank you again for allowing me the opportunty to try one. I will be grabbing some more (when more maduros become available) so that I can see what these will be like with a little more rest on them. I should have took more pics, but I was really concentrating on the flavors. :D

Just smoked my first from a 5 pack. Very good cigar! I think I liked the flavors of the original Nicaraguan blend with the natural wrapper better, but this is close. The draw is much better this time around also.
