How does that happen? There must be something else going on....I'm just glad he's not on the Steelers anymore. Anyway, hopefully he'll recover soon.

Wish that he had shot himself a little higher up so that he could not breed and pass on his stupidity.

:r What an idiot!

He needs better trigger discipline

The fundamental NRA rules for safe gun handling are:

1. ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. This is the primary rule of gun safety. A safe direction means that the gun is pointed so that even if it were to go off it would not cause injury or damage. The key to this rule is to control where the muzzle or front end of the barrel is pointed at all times. Common sense dictates the safest direction, depending on different circumstances.

2. ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
When holding a gun, rest your finger on the trigger guard or along the side of the gun. Until you are actually ready to fire, do not touch the trigger.

He violated both rules. OOPS! What an idiot!

The NFL would be better off without players like Burress. He is a poor representative for a very popular league.

I agree, why would he even be at a club packing a side-arm? Isn't that what his personal security is for?? I personally think this is funny.

Nah, they'll still march through Dallas and end their year like last year.

Actually, they'll do it in NJ if Dallas makes the post season.

Good thing he was carrying a gun for "protection." The only question now is who will protect him from himself?

Might want to send those to Plaxico, not sure he has ever been to an NRA meeting and he still probably isn't any more likely to go.

He is a Dumb A$$:rI would agree that it was funny if there wasn't the potential to injure or kill some innocent bystander. Personally, I feel that he should be prosecuted on any weapons charges that the police can make fit the case.

Even though I am a huge Giant fan, I wouldn't have been sad had he aimed 1 to 3 feet higher. One would have prevented him from reproducing, the other would have jest prevented him from bieng. The guy has been nothing but a cancer on this team, and like was said on the game yesterday. "The Giants lose Tiki Barber, Strahan and Uminyora, and get rid of Jeremy Shockey, and keep on winning, Do you really think they are going to miss you?" Testify Pastor Siragusa, Testify!!

Why would he have a round in the chamber and the safety off? A full magazine and safety on still provides ample protection. Sounds like he was expecting trouble. As much of a jerk he seems to be, it is sad to see someone self-destruct to this level.

Looks like Harris Smith is done with the Giants. They fined and suspended for four games and placed him on the reserve non-football injury list.

Plax pleads guilty.

NEW YORK -- Former New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress pleaded guilty Thursday to a weapons charge and agreed to a two-year prison term for accidentally shooting himself at a Manhattan nightclub.

Burress pleaded guilty to one count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon, a lesser charge than he initially faced. Under a plea agreement, he agreed to a two-year prison sentence and two years of supervised release.

I don't think I agree for two years for shooting yourself, but for Plax, it's not nearly enough.
There's good reason why he ain't in Pittsburgh no more. :tu

The ESPN people are complaining that the only reason he had to go through this is because he is famous and that the common person would not even be charged.
