Actually, my cousin Daniel and I beat that game in a single weekend of not sleeping.
We only found our real Challenge in the form of Contra.
That game was really impossible without cheat codes.

Did anyone ever play Ghostbusters for Sega Genesis?
I once witnessed a grown man lose his mind over that game for a half a second... yes... that would be you, Dad! Hahaha,
Going to figure out a way to beat that game some day!

I used to rent it almost every weekend for a long period of time, but I completely sucked at it. AVGN has an awesome review of it.

I loved TMNT! That game was good but the next one was definitely better.

The dam level was definitely difficult, but I remember figuring out exactly the order to defuse the bombs to get through it every time. I played the game again recently and completely sucked at it, so obviously I've lost my touch over the years.
Anyone else notice that video games have gotten WAY easier since the NES days? I've got a PS3 and a 360 and play games all the way through fairly frequently on both and every time I go back and play original NES games I'm shocked at how difficult they are when I can remember beating them at the age of 8.

Yep. I used to beat Super Mario 1 every single day. Now I can't get past stage 8-1.

Yah that was a great game, Contra was awesome as well!
My step-sister somehow inherited our NES from when we were kids. Since I had kids before she did, she gave it to me for them to play with. Included, Super Mario, SM3, and TMNT. LOL I HATE that game. I've figured out how to get past the dam level, and the one after it. Enter some weird building in level 4 and I gave up. My kids lost interest in TMNT too. They love SM1 and SM3.
Contra fans remember: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Select, Start
I tried this on the downloaded Contra on my sister's Wii. Couldn't get it to work. That game's impossible without 30 free lives.

I played the original Pong. ;)
Oh yeah, NES was maybe my fifth game system...original Pong, commodore 64, ATARI, SEGA, then Nintendo. Hated TMNT, still love me some RBI Baseball tho. That game rocks.:banger

Definitely. 2, 3, and 4 were much better than the original.

I swear that code worked on almost every game for something!
TMNT and The Goonies were two games that frustrated me to no end. Now Tecmo Super Bowl on the other hand I could still play daily

RBI baseball was cool until Baseball Stars came out. It was the first game you could actually play as the GM. You could draft, trade, and improve your players skills. AND, you could save your progress and pick up where you left off. Very cool for an NES game.

That's why u get emulators and you can still play these classics without having to kill your lungs to get the NES to read your games.
My fav's are zelda (both 1 & 2) and metroid

Blowing on the cartridges did NOTHING. That was simply placebo effect. The NES I got back from my sis didn't work at all. Power button blinking symptom (when it can't read a game) that we all know and love. I Googled the fix and it worked. Simply open it up and bend the 40+ pins out a little so they make better contact with the leads on the games.
BTW, console game emulators are sweet. They are free, take up no space, and don't require much in the way of graphics, CPU, or RAM to run.

It's known as the Konami code. I believe the first game to use it was Gradius (one of the first games I remember playing for NES). Used to play Double Dragon regularly too.
Skate or Die 2 was the isht. Loved that game, especially the half pipe.
I still have my NES, and it works. I did try TMNT for a little bit. Still sucks.
Remember Rush n Attack? That was a fun one too. And Commando. And Breakthru.

I have no idea what you could be talking about.
I was somewhere else at the time.
That was something you dreamed.
I refuse to testify on the grounds that I might......
Yada, yada, yada...... At least you got a new, much better joystick out of it!
