Used foam with glycol when I first started out, then moved to 65% Heartfelt beads after hearing this board rave about both the product and RH. After about 6 months at 65% I realised that 65% burned too hot for my personal preference so I moved back 70%, still with Heartfelt beads. Now I just use the Set and Forget that came with my Aristrocrat.

Have a Cigar Oasis XL Plus for my main humidor, but I'm wanting to get some beeds to place in my old humidor that I no longer use for overflow purposes. Kicking myself because there was a group buy on them not too terribly long ago here but wasn't on here much during the summer and didn't see the thread until it was too late.

This is the ticket!!!

Kitty Litter is the only way to go to cut the cost of humidification and spend the money on the things that matter..... Like new sticks to fill humidor! :banger

2 of my humidors leak, so i need to re-charge my shilala beads fairly often. recharing the shilala beads take more time than recharing heartfelt because i can just spray some water on them. i have tried to rectify the leaks with foam seals and painters tape, so far nothing has helped. i have to recharge my current beads every week or 2.

one of the advantages on the shilala beads in very consistant rH, but I have not gotten that with my humidors (because of the leaks). so because of that im not even sure any beads will work.

and im not able to buy better humidors at this point.

I've been using mostly boveda packs since the beginning of the year. In the last month or so I have switched to kitty litter and DW. But.. a couple of days ago I opened a box of portages salmons and saw... MOLD! It had just started but it was there. So... I tossed that KL into the trash and I am back on Boveda packs.

I use the oasis XL in my cabinet... it seems to work well. Now that the winter months are amongst us, we will see how well it holds up and may reevaluate if need be.

Personally, in my cooler I use all of the above :)

I have two large jars and pucks that use PG, and I have two dry bags of 65% beads that I use to help prevent spikes in humidity.

Overall, the only thing I'd change is that I'd switch to an active humidifier at some point when I get a new cabinet.

What is a good container for the beads? I'm using a glad container without the lid. I'm thinking about poking holes in the lid so I don't have a giant mess one day though.

Prior to that I was using a ziplock bag partially opened. That didn't work well at all. My RH was hovering at around 50%; after switching to the container I'm right at 65% almost all the time.

Mesh bags work great. I also use some cheap, unused nylons that my wife bought. There's lots of surface area to absorb and release moisture.

No option for "multiple".

Heartfelf beads for control (probably have 5 lbs between humis and coolers). I use drymist sticks in my humis for moisture input. When the cooler beads start to get low, I spray them with water. They don't need recharging very often.

Shilala Beads! ! !
The very best ones around. Buy these beads and never have to buy beads again.---unless you buy another bigger cabinet.

I am in no way affiliated with Shilala, Shilala Inc., Shilala Beads, or Shilala Beads Inc.----:D:D

I have about 2 lbs in each of my Vino-temps. If I notice the RH a little low I put a saucer of distilled water in over night and I am fine for another 3-6 months.

It says when the beads shrink to add their pg solution..

Should be fine with distilled water, PG solution is usually a 50/50 mix of PG and distilled H2O. The PG helps as an anti-bacterial and preservative to the solution
