All this Tatuaje talk...

And since I can't find any of those fancy named runs....I'd really like to know:

How exactly is "Tatuaje" pronounced?

I've hit You Tube figuring that was the best way to find out, and I've heard it pronounced at least 4 different ways, even in interviews with Pete.

If I call a shop looking for the upcoming special release, I don't want to sound like a nitwit mispronouncing the brand name!

So how is Tatuaje pronounced??

I have been told it is pronounced "Tat A Who Wa Jay"

It is spanish for tattoo:

"Tattoo ah hey" is the best I can spell it to make sense, haha.

Here is a link you can listen to the word:

Tatuaje is a Spanish word. In Spanish the letters nearly always sound just as they are spelled. In this case it is Tah-too-awe-hay. Or, when spoken in normal conversation it can easily sound blurred into Taht-wah-hay.

In spanish it would be: Tah-Too-Ah-hey (with a hard "h" as in Juan)

By "Jay" you man "hay" right?

This is the clearest pronunciation I've found.

Edit to add: I typed too slow...it looks like others have pointed out what I was thinking.

Thanks much guys!

I'm sorry but I've never heard it with the "A-who" in there, just "who"

This is great, but the harsh j is regional. One region that uses this is Texas.

Tatuaje is Spanish for "extremely annoying limited editions".

And is clearly pronounced OH VER RAY TID :lr

:D I've always pronounced it TAT TWO AH HEY. Could be wrong but I've heard the word said in movies and TV shows, that seems to be the consensus.

I hope everyone understands I'm just messing around :D

Yep. That's what I learned in my Spanish classes back in the day. And that's what all of the Mexican Tejanos I've ever known have confirmed. I'm not sure if it's the same "harsh j" that is being spoken of here, but I remember it as very throaty. Kind of, guttural.

Thank God I've been pronouncing it right all this time. Although I have just said Tats and have never had a problem.

Here, on the Texas border, we say "Taht-WAH-heh"

Just like it's "hal-eh-PAY-nyo", not "PEE-nyo" for jalapeņo. Drives me nuts....

"Pay" would actually be the correct pronunciation of the "e" vowel in Spanish. The Americanized "Pee-nyo" is incorrect, though more common in the US.
