My youngest daughter turns 7 next week and is the same way. In the spring, she played in a small 2 team league that played each other every week. You couldn't add all of the goals between the opposing team combined to come up with as many as my daughter scored. I've moved her into a more competitive league and up an age group. She won't be old enough for travel soccer until next year. Congrats.

Searched out this thread, as we continue with this soccer thing as a supplement to the hockey... She continues to kick tail and has been "recruited" to play up for a comp team. Here are a few photos from the Spring.... Being the young kid on the team and leading them in scoring is never a bad thing....

This first photo is my favorite of the year and doesn't look like anything if you just look at it. But this was her third game of a hot day, she was BEAT..... She had been in goal for the first half of a comp game and it was back and forth, getting to the half at 0-0. She went to striker and scored an early goal to put them up 1-0. This was late, probably 2 minutes left in the game and she scored again to make it 2-0 and pretty much seal the deal. I can see the "tired" and the "I just finished this" in her face....

She looked better in green. Sorry had to say it, EJ. :p

The most important thing is that she looks like she's having fun! Definitely something to be proud of!

Searched out again...;)

Kicked off the season playing in a tournament with her new comp team today.... Playing with a U9 group(she's 7) locally.... Scored twice, brought home the win.....good times to be had by all.

GOAL!

Won again today. The Little One scored their first goal(of 4) in a 4-1 win... Undefeated in the tourney going into tomorrow. There may be better feelings, but as of now, I have yet to experience one that out performs the one you get from pride in your kids.

She's obviously very talented for her age - does she enjoy watching the game as well? Did the US women's recent run to gold have her fired up?

She has been LOVING the USWNT run to the Gold.... It has been extra special, as her and I went to the USA vs Canada game just prior to the teams heading over to London.

Also, while watching the Gold Medal game yesterday prior to heading to her game, Carli Lloyd scored both the US goals.....being that they share the same #, the Little One was pretty excited about that and knew it would be her day....:tu

GOAL(yesterday)!!!

Full disclosure, it's not always peaches and cream in athletics in my house.....

Didn't get to hold the cup high today. Both teams undefeated, Championship Game of the Tournament....the Little One had the opportunity to tie it up in OT with < 15 seconds left in the game. Sent a PK VERY WIDE right.... Lost 3-2. That is okay, learning experience.

A high, high and a low, low.... It is what makes going out and competing exciting... Well, at least IMO....

GOAL!!!

You can learn a great deal from losing, often more than from winning. My son had back-to-back years playing for a dominant, championship winning hockey team followed by a completely winless season the next year. He's always said he got more out playing for the winless team than the championship one.

Character building experiences, for sure.
