Well wishes to everyone about to be hit by this storm. Hoping everyone has "battened down the hatches" and is prepared for this thing. Supposed to hit the Carolina coast this evening and wreak havoc up the entire eastern seaboard. Best of luck to everyone in its path (including me). Keeping my fingers crossed that this thing fizzles out, but just in case.

Yeah not sounding good this storm. They're talking it up like a 100 year storm. I hope it doesn't affect us too badly and it's more talk then actual happening. Be safe everyone!!!

Yes, good luck all those in the area, thoughts are with you. As a native South-Floridian I've been through my fair share, and I know we got very lucky with this one missing us.

Hurricane Herf????
In all seriousness I am hoping everyone fairs well. I was looking at the path and this thing looks like it is following a similar path as Gloria back in '85 which I think was the last time a Hurricane really beat up the Northeast. I know on Long Island that may have been the last one to do major damage. I'm hoping the media is just over hyping this thing to fit in with the doom and gloom since the earthquake happened to be in the same week and it dwindles down to a Tropical Storm. Good luck everyone.

Just spent all day putting everything in my yard into the shed.
With my luck, the yard will be fine, but the shed will blow away.
On a brighter note, I got on the roof to clean the gutters,
and unlike the last time, I used the ladder to get down instead of a bush.
Here's hoping everyone stays safe and dry!

So far, so good. Branches down, loads of rain, and one power loss (for about an hour). Eye of the storm is supposed to hit this area in about an hour and a half. Still keeping finges crossed.

I dislike when Mac gets on our Roof, :r we have been running around like crazy since our return from our Jersey Herf Trip, after the earthquake :noon. it took us 2 days to find a place for everything in our yard...and to stand in line for gas, water, propane and food. the Generator started like a champ! we are ready.. so far we have lost power 2 twice but it came back on.:tu wishing Irene passes over us fast.. but it does not look like it. BE SAFE! for anyone in her path Big Hugs

Last hurricane we had my dogs loved running around in rain. You just have to go out and walk it till it gets used to it.

Worst is passed us now.
My main concern was water in the basement and a tree falling.
Neither happened.
Basement is bone dry and more importantly, so is my Humidor!
I hope all effected share my good fortune!

Wow. Irene just came through Connecticut. It didn't seem like it was that bad but there was alot of damage in the town I work for. Massive flooding along with trees and wires down all over. Good thing, no injuries or fatalities. Also been working 32 hours straight. I'll post some pictures tomorrow. Hope everyone stayed safe

A few shots from the neighborhood

I'm glad to see you paid NO ATTENTION to orders to stay safely away from potential danger, Chris. :r

As for me, my worst problem was that the TV stations pre-empted programming for Irene coverage 24/7 all weekend, so I had to watch DVDs. My lights flickered a time or three, and that's it. Madison is in the "shadow" of the Watchungs, giving us some shelter from nor'easter winds, and is not prone to flooding. Other than that, the biggest hassle was dealing with the crowds in town Sunday afternoon and evening. Many people surrounding us lost power, which we didn't (would you believe, we have our "own" power company, sort of?), so they flocked here to grab lunch and dinner. Typical waits for a table was an hour.

Good thing I don't eat out. Uhhh, I mean, in restaurants that is. :D

I live in Philly and from 10-2 am I sat on my porch smoking. First smoke was a CAO Vision that I had for a long while that was actually "not that good". The second smoke shall remain nameless......

Didn't get to wet with the awning and my corner position but I put the wind proof torch through its paces.

Well that blew. Not too much water damage in Richmond, but tons of trees down, like at one of my employee's houses:

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii88/kaisersozei/Jen1.png

Survived my fifth named hurricane (including Hugo in Charleston & Andrew in New Orleans,) so I'm thankful. But with a 5.8 earthquake last Tuesday, a Cat 1 hurricane on Saturday, I'm looking out for the locusts this week.
