This is INSANE:
Particularly, when you consider that they're $64-72 on top few google hits. Let'em bid them up - especially on stuff I don't want. There's still plenty to be stolen on auctions.

I've witnessed this on several items lately. I've seen morons bid things up $1.00 over what I see as retail at the B&M and that's not including my locker member discount.
Yes, there's still deals but they're getting scarcer as these idgits take over the bidding.

A box of these at my local B&M is 69.00 plus tax.

It gets worse the closer we get to Christmas. Too many people buying for someone else that have NO idea how to do a google search! That's over and above those bidders that just get caught up in "auction fever"!

I mean it says MSRP, which you hardly ever pay online anyways.. Why would you go over that price???

I think it's just a bid frenzy and you get so into it that you kind of lose sight that there ARE other sites that carry sticks for lower. I rarely shop on any of the auction sites anymore because the deals aren't that great. .02

It's not just cigars. I wanted to buy some PC parts off e-bay and watched the price for used stuff skyrocket over what anyone could purchase brand new parts for off of NewEgg. Just insane.....

I paid under 200 bucks for a box of dpg maduros and dpg blues a few weeks ago. Not each, but for the two of them, shipped. It works good for me. :D

I think there are two reasons why people bid senseless:
1) uneducated bidding
2) price isn't an issue

It's not like they can accidentally pay too much. If you overbid the retail, an alert window pops up asking you if that's what you want to do and even links you to their retail site where you can buy them.

Really? I never heard about that one.
These smokes I bought were the first in over three years I've bought at the devil site, I was boycotting them. I needed both so I gave it a shot and saved money, now I'm boycotting them some more.

I wanted a nub ash tray and bid over what they were selling it for on their site and an alert came up letting me know and asking if I wanted to continue.

Bid sites scare me! I just go to retail sites and see who's cheapest. Also spend a few bucks regularly at the local b&m just to show respect for their hard work. Still, if I were going to use one, I'd do my homework first! Better to find out who will have a particular cigar in stock/on order and wait for it than pay way too much!

Just login in and use the auto bid feature!:r
I took a screen shot of an alert and put it on my buddy's computer. It took him a bit to figure out why he couldn't click the okay button.

Yep, pretty much why I rarely bother logging on to see what I can score. Although I have been watching for Towers for the last four or so months and can never win because some tool bags bid the things up past the point where your no longer getting a deal or they just do the buy it now price which is usually the same as just logging on to CI and ordering it outright. I guess if it weren't for the guys paying retail or more than retail the auction sites would have been pulled down a long time ago.
