I was wondering, what does everyone drink when having a cigar. I know a lot drink a beer or wine or even a spirit of some sort, but is there something else you like? For me it is Welch's grape juice. I love sitting out on the deck in the evenings with a nice smoke and a glass of grape juice.

So what is your favorite?

Root beer if its a particularly strong smoke(sugar to cancel out some of the nicotine), coffee if its one of my typical earthy smokes, water with everything else. Not a fan of beer with a cigar. Still have to try some of the scotch I picked up with one.

Usually a beer of some sort but if not I shoot for a pepsi to keep my sugar levels up.

I like to have Sweet Tea. I should start to make my own because the only Sweet Tea I like is the Gold Peak Sweet Tea. Anything else, doesn't come close to it. I should start making my own though.

Looks like a lot of people really enjoy the sweet tea.

What brands do you guys like best? Figure it differs from state to state. I like Gold Peak the best. I've tried one from Snapple, Arizona, and some other, and they all weren't sweet at all.

WOW!!! To me, Arizona is so sweet, I can't drink it!! I grew up in deep south, where sweet tea rules. But I can't handle what most southerners consider sweet tea! After a pound or so of sugar in tea, all there is to the taste is the sugar! I seldom buy sweet tea, prefer to make it myself. Mainly, I prefer Lipton, and I usually use 3/4 or less of sugar per gallon. Ran across a waitress at Buffalo Wild Wings last week that uses 3 cups of sugar per gallon! Makes my teeth hurt thinking about that!

I like normal iced tea too. Usually with a little bit of lemon in it. But I'll drink unsweetened too. I guess Arizona is sweet, it just doesn't have the sweet tea taste to it.

But I've never been to the south so I'm not sure what the true traditional style is.

I cut cranberry juice (too sweet) with some pellegrino mineral water. Oh smoked with a CAO La Traviata Ninfas.

Oh that sounds good. Do you mix them?

I wanna try that with sparkling water.

And the La Traviata is a very nice cigar. Only cigar I've ever had from CAO.

Cigar and a beverage don't come to mind right away when I saw the title :r

Coffee seems to be my favorite drink with a cigar.

I like Luzianne. I usually just make pitchers of unsweet tea but if I want sweet I add 1cup of sugar for 2qts.

Other than beer and whiskey, I prefer unsweet tea with my cigars, I like sweet too but something about unsweet tea that just stays second fiddle to the cigar. I also often enjoy coffee with my smokes.

I love me a good pair!!!:D

Morning = Coffee w/ cigar
Afternoon = Beer (micro brew) w/ cigar
Evening = Beer w/ cigar
Warm evening = Beer w/ cigar
Cool evening = Mixed drink (mojito, Crown & Coke, ect) w/ cigar
Cold Evening = Decafe w/ cigar

I always like to pair a cigar with a drink. I don't like to smoke without a drink, if I do I usually have to spit!:sh

+1. If I don't have a drink with the smoke, I spit quite a bit. Dunno why.

As for what I drink. I really like Appleton Estate rum (haven't had any of the "good" rums yet) with a few cubes and a splash of water, Jameson Reserve neat, Diet Pepsi, Lemonade, or my favorite, plain water.

If you can find it, Appleton has a 20 year aged rum, and now (as I've been told) a 30 year ages rum. I Have a bottle of the 20 year, and it ranks as the "good" stuff with me! Hard to find, and my only local source has to order it outside of the normal state ABC's list of available product. My source has been trying for two years to get a supply of the 30 year, but so far, no luck!

Lipton tea bags, family size, 4 to a gallon. Bring a couple of cups of water to a boil and remove from heat. Add bags and allow to steep for about 15 minutes. Decant and add a cup and a half of sugar. Dilute to a gallon. It's good fresh over ice, but best on day 2 or 3.

Very close to my method, except I use 2 family size bags, and let them steep for at least 24 hours before 3/4 cup of sugar to a gallon of tea. Kinda a "sun-tea" method, except I bring water to a boil, then set off heat, then put in tea bags. Oh, FWIW, we only use porcelain lined brewing kettles for the steeping. Keeps out bitter taste that steeping that long in metal pot would bring. Glass pot would work as well, but harder to find and more expensive for no appreciable difference over porcelain, IMO.

If it is brutally hot out, I skip the coffee altogether.

No luck in my town. They had the V/X and the Reserve. :(

Looks like I may have to order.

Last night I paired an 07 CoRo with a 2005 Toad Hollow Cabernet Sauvignon.

When I smoke a cigar it usually gets paired with the following:

Water (if its a relatively new cigar, or light, or I am not in a mood of drinking anything else with it).

Root Beer (if it strong, peppery, your Don Pepin cigars)

Scotch (if I am in a mood of drinking something. If not water or root beer, its scotch)

Beer (I drink this rarely, but sometimes I would like one, and turn to Leffe or La Fin Du Monde).

Drink what you like!

In the past I would usually drink a Merlot. Recently, I've started drinking Licor 43, which is an after dinner liquor. Tastes like anice which is slightly sweet and handles the nicotine well.

I have tried several drinks that are pretty good including port, margarita, beer and tea depending on the cigar. My favorite though without a doubt that seems to go well with every cigar is coffee. Not sure about black coffee but with sugar and some hazelnut cream its an amazing combination for me.

Usually coffee, but I'll drink grape water or diet A&W or diet Dr. Pepper or ice water. Diet Pepsi in a pinch, or whatever is handy, otherwise.
I don't drink much while I'm smoking, so it doesn't much matter. I think coffee pairs best, so I prefer it.

Cold brewed tea sweetened with Splenda or a Dr. Pepper.

I don't drink alcohol, and I love the smell of coffee, just not the taste.
