Matt...what are you drinking so early this morning? :r :r r

Mattso3000

The Central is terrible, the Twins are 6 back behind 3 choke artists, are always a second half team, and are finally starting to get healthy. Yeah, so I work nights and am drinking... doesn't mean this ain't happening!

kelmac07

While I agree this division is terrible...Mauer and Cuddyer HAVE to stay healthy and produce. Span hasn't done JACK this year and the pitching is getting no run support. Gonna take a total collapse of the Sox, Tribe and Tigers for this to happen.

Wanger
07-28-2011, 08:55 AM
If they go out and get some help via trade, I might agree. They need a true frontline starter. Liriano has the stuff, but is far too inconsistent. Pavano is an innings eater, but isn't a stud. Baker shows flashes, but seems to get hurt at the wrong times. The other guys are young and/or inconsistent. And Morneau has to come back truly healthy and playing like he did at the start of last year. I'd love to be drinking the Bullseye Kool Aid, but unless they make a few changes/upgrades, I have a hard time seeing it. The Tiggers seem to own us this year. :(

Mattso3000

Gotta go and bring logic into it...just believe man, they are the only local team that doesn't always let us down. It'll happen.

The Sox WILL collapse. They do every year, and always fold to the Twins. IT's a hump that Ozzie can't get them over. Who knows when Span will see the field again, with his concussion. He was playing well when he went down, but Revere has replaced him fairly well. Young hasn't done jack this year, but seems to be getting his bat on track. I never worry about Cuddy's health. Mauer is as fragile as a kid with brittle bone disease, it seems. But at least his starting to come around at the plate. As far as no run support goes, how about NOT giving up 27 hits and 20 runs in one game? :p

But if you are so certain they will pass the Indians, Sox and Tigers, why not up the stakes?

THAT would be bold! ;)

I am looking to bet a nicer 5'er that the Twins don't win the AL Central...the Twins are behind 3 choke artists, are always a second half team, and are finally starting to get healthy, so why wouldn't someone want that bet? :D

I thought this thread said "Bald" prediction time. Anyway, to tie it into baseball, I started losing my hair right at the time my Brewers were in the 1982 World Series. Now, their magic number is 2, which is nice to see, but I have no confidence that they'll go far in the playoffs. My second favorite team would be the Twins. I think I'll dig out my old homer hankies for good luck.

Lions are 3-0. Heck Stafford got sacked 5 times, 3 by Jared Allen and popped right back up. Lions didn't look so hot in the first half being down 20-0, but they came back to win 26-23 in OT.

BTW, is there anyone in the NFL that can cover Calvin Johnson? :D He only has 6 TD receptions in the first 3 games. :tu

Mattso3000
09-26-2011, 11:45 AM
Chris Cook actually did a solid job covering Calvin. Last 40 yard catch was against cedric griffin. Being down 20-0 against the Vikes is having them right where you want them this year. Tony Dungy had the quote of the day IMO, if the game is 30 min long, I have the Vikings winning the super bowl. Ha. Hopefully the kittens can take it to the pack this year. Rather see them win than the ****:n cheeseheads.

Stafford should change his last name to "If he stays healthy" because it always follows Matt Stafford.

Cook did alright. I think he interrupted 2 passes targeted toward Calvin. That said, I know at least one of the TD receptions Cook was on him. The last catch it wouldn't have mattered who was on him, save Shaq or Yao Ming.

CJ is 6'5" with 4.30 speed, 44" vertical, and amazing hands. He's truly a physical freak. What else is nice is that he's not one of the WR prima donnas. He's actually rather quiet; doesn't talk much at all.

Strangely Vick doesn't seem to get that label, but he's hurt all the time.

Mattso3000

First TD was definitely vs. Cook, he had solid position and it just didn't matter. CJ is a bigger, stronger Randy Moss clone in his prime and he actually keeps his mouth shut and cares about football. He's scary good.

Oliva Series V #4

Skull and Bones Fat Man :dr
Don Pepin Garcia Blue

and a Hoyo de Monterray from his 1st box purchase in '99. Talk about yellow cello! :D

NC HdM's were pretty much all I smoked for the first few years of actually getting quality cigars, still on of my favorites. This years S&B are better than last as well, more depth of flavor. Not just the power bombs that the WMD and MOAB were.

I remember their only playoff win since 1957. It was in 1991 against the Aikman/Emmitt Smith/Michael Irving/Jimmy Johnson Cowboys. The Lions whipped 'em and headed into Washington where the Redskins utterly destroyed my Leos.

Heck this is their first playoff game since 1999. I'm hoping for a miracle; the Saints aren't going to be an easy team to beat.

Nah, we'll just take solace in the fact that we're returning the offense intact, including the reigning MVP and will field a much-improved defense (as it could've been much worse). That, and we've beaten the Giants two out of the last three meetings. What's that old saying about a blind squirrel and a nut? Look on the bright side; by the time the Packers come to town late November, you should be able to acquire tickets on the cheap. :D ;)

The bold may be true, but if you look at the last 4 meetings, the record is 2-2, with both Giant wins coming in January.
The Packers can win all the November games, and the Giants can win all the January games.

I'd say a bold call would be for the kitties to knock off the pack as Division Champs. Barring major injuries, they likely will make the playoffs again. If they find a consistent running game they should be one hell of a football team.

I dunno. I don't think the Leos will win the division. The Pack and Bears are both improved, although I think the Lions are better than the Bears.

Remember last year you guys thought I was nuts. Heck I think the Lions COULD win the division this year. But, they are without both of they best running backs for 2-6 games Minimum. They sent their a CB competing for a starting spot packing due to off the field issues, their 1st round pick DT from last year is going to get suspended, their best DB is going to miss time, and they drafted a WR coming off an ACL in the 2nd round this year.

I guess that would make it really bold given how good the Pack was last year and the Bears making some nice acquisitions. You've almost talked me into saying it, even though I think their chances are about 30% of actually doing it.
