View Full Version : Cigars Stored with Flavored Cigars?

a "cigarettes cheaper" style shop here had some RP 90's & 92's along with CAO MX2 i've been wanting to try. the only problem was they were stored with ACID cigars, and when I got a closer look at the cases I got a strong perfumy aroma rather then the normal cedar/tobacco.

have these cigars been tainted, are they salvageable? or should it just be considered a lost cause?

How close to the Acids were they? How big was the humi they were in? Were the box of Acids open or closed? Many things to take into consideration.

the display case was approximately 3.5' x 2' and all boxes were open. there were maybe 5 boxes of RP's along with 2 (if i remember right) ACIDS blue label.

Way to small. I would bet they taste like some ACIDS. If it were something like a big walk-in humidor, at a large establishment, with a lot of turnover maybe, but if it is that small they are likely tainted.

I'd pass, too. None of the smokes you mentioned is hard to find at a B&M or online vendor who has enough sense to not mix flavored cigars with regular ones.

:tpd: If they had a strong perfumy smell, I would not waste my money.

I would pass, how much cheaper could they be and for the few bucks you save you wouldn't be truly experiencing the ones you've been wanting to try if they have been tainted. IMO;)

Big time pass and would tell the owner that what he is doing is a huge NO NO!

I'd pass like the rest of the guys here.

This does bring up a question from me though, and you could be the one to finally answer it.

Like many here, I always warn of the dangers of storing flavored cigars with good cigars (they are mutually exclusive :D). However, is this paranoia or is it a real threat? Will the flavors really mingle and if so, how quickly?

I for one would never take the chance (mainly because I'm a snob and don't smoke acids), but I am curious if we warn against this without knowing of any cases where it actually happened.

Furthermore, if the risks are real, will the cigar recover over time after it has been taken away from the crap, er, I mean tainted cigars?

I take back my pass on them, buy one and let us know how it was! :r

well, not knowing what either the RP or the ACID should taste like, i wouldn't know if it had mixed flavors or not. I did pick up a RP 90 and 92 though from another store and hopefully i'll have time to try one or both out this week.

if i get around to trying the RP's from the previously mentioned shop i'll let ya know.
