Well it's finally done. My Klose 6' custom backyard pit is done! But it's still 1600 miles away

I gotta say its been a pleasure to deal with Klose. I am extremely happy it turned out precisely how I asked. I mocked up the a drawing of what I wanted and they nailed it. Sure it's a pretty straight-forward design, but I was picky on the dimensions as well as the placement of things like blower port, racks, etc. Not to mention the vato who worked on it does beautiful welding.

Can't wait to baptize it with some good Canadian swine.

Thanks! I don't really keep the titles of the equipment all that straight. grill, smoker BBQ... I use my smoker all the time for all three so I don't differentiate.

Neither does practically any Canadian I've met, so I won't hold it against you. :D

God knows I've tried to impress the differences to people, or educate them if you will. They still call it BAR-BUH-QUE!

500#? :r

It weighed in at 1350 pounds!!

390lb - 24" OD Pipe
365lb - Firebox
220lb - Square Tube Frame
75lb - Grills
75lb - 3' x Exhaust OD Pipe
70lb - 2 end caps
65lb - 36' angle iron
30lb - wheels

Gas prices went up 25% since I ordered it, so yeah it's killer to ship.

I have had the Klose website on my favorites for years and every once in awhile I go and drool. I want one and I can stand the price, but the shipping scares the he$$ll out of me. I think the shipping would come close to doubling the total price and that's what keeps me from doing this myself. Although, I haven't checked it out to be sure. Congrats anyway; that grill is awesome! Steve

I have seen Dave mention that he is going to be someplace or another or that he has a delivery going someplace if someone wants to piggyback a delivery. You just have to keep an ear out on some of the BBQ forums, website, or just ask.

To the comments posted here and the PM's about shipping...

BIG thanks to Nathan Hogancamp at FreightQuote for getting me some super fast shipping dirt cheap. I've been searching for shippers for the last two weeks and getting some pretty scary quotes, some more than the pit is worth!!

I took the recommendations of a few people and tried my luck at FreightQuote.com. After working with Nathan I found it's a breeze to ship big and heavy pits from one end of the country to the other. It's a lot less stress knowing its finally en route.

He ain't a member here, but feel he deserves a shout out as he went above and beyond to work things out knowing I was shipping an unwieldy bbq pit that needs to be across the country in 3 days. He's definitely the guy to call if you gotta move something big from far far away.

It's gonna be a sad day to see my old pit go. She has served me well and has had more meat in her than a Vegas hooker, probably cleaner too. :D

Almost here. Those guys can build the best pits in the world, but they can't build a skid to save their lives. Thank goodness for a Brother here who had access to a forklift and another truck!
