My local Costco has "Road Shows" every other weekend. One time it's leathers coats, the next time it might be Traeger BBQ grills. The are limited time items.

Imagine my surprise when this weekend is was a "Premium Cigar Event". They had 4 or 5 pre packaged samplers, all were Dominican. One was a RyJ sampler with 2 each of 5 or 6 cigars in aluminum tubes. One was 4 or 5 Cohibas.

I asked the guy which was the mildest and he pointed me to this one. For $28 how'd I do? Anybody ever smoke any of these?

$4 a cigar, cannot go wrong really. Especially if you picked them up right there. IMO the Dominican Cohibas are way too pricey for what they are. They are just using the name to jack the price up sky high.

If you were looking for Mild - low end of medium I think you did just fine.

Emjaysmash, lansman?

I grew up just south of you.

For a sampler, $4 cigar for Altadis core lines, you did well. I'd say those are more medium than they are mild, but none are that strong. The Onyx and the Monte Afrique are the strongest of the bunch at a solid medium. The Don Diego is the mildest followed by the yellow box Monte (far left). The rest are in between somewhere.

I've worked for Costco for 23 years. I know all about this stuff;) Costco is currently teamed up with JR's. Anything you see at a Fathers day event will be a little cheaper online at JR's. Plus I've personally had a problem with them shipping cigars that were dried husks. Just clearing out their old stock.

My wife bought me a sampler from Costco for Christmas last year with Dominican RyJ, Upmanns, and Montes, some pretty decent sticks in there

It was Friday at the one at the Tustin District, Barranca and Jamboree. Not sure if it's still going on.

Wonder if they will do free samples of these? My kids love going there for the samples.

Nadda here in Canada, though I think they may have some Backwoods. No booze either.

Hi,

Is there any place I can find the special events schedule for my local Costcos?

There are three near me. Two in Tustin and one in Irvine.

I know where that one is, though I've never gone in. Filled up at their gas station. Had a cigar at the patio of Sharkey's with a friend a couple of weeks ago.

Funny, Pete Johnson was complaining about one of these events the other weekend on Facebook.
