View Full Version : How do you take your coffee?

hammondc

Just curious. Me...I like a strong coffee with about 5 parts coffee and 1 part milk. 2.5 tsp sugar.

I am wondering if it is prepped like I do--does the quality even matter? I, for one, like Charbucks. BUT....I have never really ventured outside that realm (unclebeanz, killerbeans etc). I was thinking of trying some of those.

I too use cream or milk, and sweetener but not sugar. But there are several that I will drink black, most recently Honolulu Coffee Co.'s Kona Peaberry. So, "none of the above". ;)

If the coffee is good, I take it black. Everyday coffee shop coffee, I put in a tiny amount of splenda and cream, just to take off the bitterness edge.

Generally, I drink my coffee black. Once in a blue moon and it would usually be in the evening, I might take my coffee with 2 teaspoons of turbinado pure cane sugar and half n half...

It won't let me guess 2.
Depends, If its a roast I just did first pot is black to feel out the taste and to taste the bean so when I mix blends or what not I know the characteristics, then other times its a splash of milk with a dare of sugar and other times I add honey into the duo.

I voted Cream & Sugar but I really use Silk Creamer not milk-creamer. I use about 20% creamer and a heaping tablespoon of sugar. This is for a 20oz Mug/tumbler.

OK.....so, just as I thought, I am not the only one who likes milk or milk-like product and sugar or sugar-like product.

So....do you folks think there is a benefit to using some of these beans from unclebeanz, killerbeans etc? Or does the milk/sugar mask the flavor too much.

I always out milk/cream/half & half and some sort of sweetener (substitute/regular sugar/ RAW) but thats not the part that matters to me. The part that matter is the coffee itself. I'm no coffee aficionado but I definitely think that where the beans come from, how it's roasted and made into coffee matters.

So to answer your question, yes it does benefit from using quality beans.

I drink mine as it's brewed, Black. The stronger the better. We usually buy espresso roast, french roast or sumatra. My wife will sometimes sneek in a bag of dunking dognuts cuz she likes it.

And she uses the powdered creamer also.

I voted in with you, even though there is no option of "how ever the hell you pour it, I drink it"

More often than not though I'll just toss some creamer in with it, liquid or powder...no preference.

That is disgusting. I think it is strange my girlfriend always adds sugar and coffee mate but she only does a little. To me coffee is supposed to be drank bitter and black. Less calories more taste. It is like cigars kind of. Drink enough cups that way and you eventually pick up on the undertones that you didn't realize were there, though sometimes it is really obvious from the get go. Just my personal opinion though.

I put espresso over ice in the summer, sort of like a cold americano as the ice adds water as it melts. Straight coffee, though.
