Anyone got anything? This year is SO up in the air about it ALL, with the lockout, and no clear #1 (plus, Carolina saying they'll take one of 4 players).

I can't even begin to think about who the Vikes will take. They have several glaring weaknesses to address. QB, LT, DL, WR, DB Obviously, the crapshoot that occurs before them will have a huge bearing on who they'll take, and what need will be able to be filled best.

Atlanta is supposedly trying to trade up so they can get into position (currently 27th) to pick up A.J. Green or Julio Jones...thats the only rumor I've heard

My guess, because of no free-agency or college free agents allowing to get signed, there will be a lot of movement in the first three round as teams to fill needs with the draft. Probably going to see 7 or 8 QB's taken in the first two rounds by teams that need them, because no one knows where the free-agent QB's will land when all is said and done. Lots of trade-bait players, but none of them can move with no CBA either. :tu

I'm most interested to see if Newton goes #1 and see if he ends up like Russell, Palmer or Manning. I think he ends up like Russell. How bad is it for Clausen that the Panthers are likely taking a 1st round QB one year removed from him? :hm

It will be interesting to see who the Bengals take. The moronic Mike Brown has always f'ed up the draft somehow. See: Peter Warrick, Akili Smith, entire '05 draft, Ki-Jana Carter, Andre Smith, etc.

:r They have one player left from that Draft. Three had career ending injuries, one is no longer living, one played last season for a different team and they still have Fanene. :r Only one was a complete moron and couldn't hack it in the NFL. It actually could have been a good draft class, not all flame outs like other classes. The Bengals, in general though, have very bad draft classes. Particularly their first three rounds of picks.

Probably true. Mostly because Al Davis and Mike Brown are the two worst owners in the NFL and have no football knowledge, are senile and only care about their pocket books. :tu

Yeah, try the Millen Era: 31 wins 84 losses, .270 winning percentage in seven-plus seasons

Lions' first-round picks under Matt Millen:
2008 OT Gosder Cherilus Boston College (starts now, but injured)
2007 WR Calvin Johnson Georgia Tech six touchdowns in 13 career starts
2006 LB Ernie Sims Florida State 1.5 sacks in 35 career starts (now in Philly)
2005 WR Mike Williams* Southern California two touchdowns in six starts for Lions
2004 WR Roy Williams Texas 29 touchdowns in 54 career starts, Pro Bowl in 2006
2004 RB Kevin Jones* Virginia Tech 27 touchdowns in 49 starts for Lions
2003 WR Charles Rogers* Michigan State four touchdowns in nine career starts
2002 QB Joey Harrington* Oregon 62 interceptions in 55 starts for Lions
2001 OT Jeff Backus Michigan started all 115 games of the Matt Millen era

Surprisingly, his 2nd and 3rd round picks are much worse.

I think for the most part that the Lions have drafted guys many people considered to be solid NFL picks at the time, whereas the Raiders and Bengals had a few more head scratchers. But yeah, Detroit has been less than blessed in their drafting. Their WR's are talented, but hard to accomplish much when they don't get the ball.

I'm a Pats fan and every year I see Them trade down. I hope this year they trade up but I doubt it. If they stand pat I wouldn't mind seeing them get Ingram and 2 de/lb with their first 3 picks. But I'm sure Bill will trade 1 of the picks for next years....

I definitely wish you wouldn't have had injuries. I am pretty darn sure you would still be our starting LT. :tu We wouldn't have wasted a pick on Andre. :td

Matt Millen was a moron, whomever decided to give an announcer the opportunity to be a GM is definitely kicking themselves now.

Calvin Johnson was the man last year. :tu

Calvin is a stud. If we can keep Stafford healthy, those two could really light it up.

Every year I have hope for the Bills, and every year they keep showing why they are irrelevant in the NFL. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go Long Snapper at #3 tonight

The 'Ol Gunslinger will be back!

Just shoot me now, Wade. LOL As I've said on that other forum, that experiment was a failure simply because there was no ring to show for it. And to top it off, they never groomed a young QB to take the reigns when he was done. Ugh!

Newton goes #1 to Carolina, and Locker goes to TN at 8. Albert, enjoy the amazing offense you'll have next year, with drafting Jones to go with the WR core you already have.

Yeah, that's what I meant... for Missouri. As a Missouri fan, I'm pretty happy about it. I actually think Smith is more likely than Gabbert to be a star in the NFL.

:tpd: 5 picks for 21 spots is a pretty big pull. Granted, that first round pick next year should be 28 or higher and possibly 32.

Have you ever seen anyone as disinterested in being picked as Nick Fairley? We all sat watching in the lunchroom at work, and each one of us basically said "What a tool". :2

Once again B.B. Trades down..... They needed a pass rush and couldve traded up a cpl spots and got Quin. Instead they take Solder, who could be awesome. Then at 28, instead of taking Ingram, who I really thought could bring a whole new dimension to the offense to help Brady, they trade it to the Saints, who in turn draft Ingram. Now they have the first pick in tomorrows draft and I'm sure they will trade out.....

Bill loves the second round.

I was suprised he took someone at 17.

We do need offensive lineman so this guy from Colorado must be good for Bill to actually use a first round pick.

At one point in time, I had heard his name being mentioned for the Vikes at #12. From everything I've heard about him, he's an elite athlete for a tackle. 6'8", former tight end.

I'm guessing that you're feeling about that pick like I am about the Vikes passing on Fairley with the issues they are going to have up the middle with the crumbling of the Williams Wall. :( He'd have been a GREAT fit next to Kevin Williams. Now we have to block him AND Suh on the same line. :(

I saw something similar, but it looked to me that he was pissed he slid that far. I hope he plays with a giant chip on his shoulder, out to prove those other 12 teams made a mistake. That DT position is looking pretty stout for the Leos, Suh, Fairly, Williams, and Hill. Not to mention Avril and KVB on the ends. :wo

I just pray they get a starting OLB, starting CB, and at least a backup OT. They could use a WR, but not an expensive one. Just need some speed on the outside so they can put Burleson in the slot.

Maybe you are right Mike, but there was no need to be an asshole to the Lions management over that, they were the ones that took a chance on him. He seems like a royal douchebag. :2

I just don't get it with BB, The first pick a O linemen yeah that's ok.

Then he picks a corner that has been getting hurt since high school, hell he pulled a hamie at the combine. We have seen to many of guys like this.

Next two picks. Two slow non elusive running backs, one will be lucky to make the team?

A QB pocket passer just as slow as Brady with character and personality issues.

I'm not feeling good about this draft.
How a bout a freakin pass rusher?

As a Saints backer, I hope Ingram stays healthy. I hate to watch great running backs play for us. Cringe, cringe, cringe.
Other than that we look solid in what we got. Locker was a good pickup for the Titans which I am forced to watch far
too often. Hope the Bengals are happy with AJ Green. I am not getting the picture, so I did not see Fairley's fairly poor
attitude. But those Auburn kids, what are you gonna do? Sorry I will not get to watch Patrick Peterson play much football.
West coast stuff. Enjoy that WC guys.

Bill seems to know how to put a product on the field, hard to not give him the benefit of the doubt. I am sure no one was thrilled with Danny Woodhead making the 53 last season, but that worked out OK. And he certainly doesn't put up with the extra-BS. He is certainly an odd little man, but he seems to make the pieces fit every year. :tu

Surprised you like the Dalton pick, considering you liked Newton, but you are a HUGE homer. :r I called the first two picks weeks ago. I think they got the best athletic WR in the draft and the smartest QB in the draft. We'll see how either of them turn out, but they have to be better than Andre Smith. :tu

I'm also confused with the Pats picks. Why waste 2 picks on RB's in second and third rounds. You could have kept the first round pick and took an every down back with Ingram and then used the other picks on defense. Haven't we also drafted a DB I'm the first or second round the past 5 years. All I know is, when free agents can be signed, they better go after one of the premier defensive player.

Yeah I am sure you're right. I just expect them to be happy to be drafted in the first round, and get to play in the NFL. I mean that's something so many kids dream of. I guess things are relative, and if you expect the world (everything), you'll always end up disappointed at something.

I understand your concerns, but I think Mallet will be a very good NFL QB. I saw him at Michigan and that kid has a heck of an arm, prototypical size, and is very sharp mentally. Being able to work behind Brady won't hurt either.

For my hometown Lions, I am a bit confused. DT Fairley I liked, but a WR Titus Young and a bull of a RB Leshoure do fill needs, but not as needs as pressing as some holes on defense (CB & OLB). We'll see how it works out.
