I finally decided to go for it before I get married in August, thanks to Duane aka Forgop. He was nice enough to do a couple of Craigslist searches for me...so, this is what I got....

PS....thanks to all that helped me on my original thread about this....damn, this thing is hugh!!!!

A few imperfections that some sand paper can fix. It also came with 4 cedar trays and an Oasis II XL.

I love it, but of course once you do get married, she is going to make you believe that it has to go. She will
get inside your mind and make you think it is your idea. It will either end up in the garage, a garage SALE
or an attic room that she allows you to have. MAYBE something in the basement if you convince her that's
where the spiders are.

You guys may think women will hate cabinet humidors but they like them a lot more than when you are stacking coolers in the dining room :D

Credenza....fancy word Bob for saying "file cabinet" and no, I still have it...it's too heavy to move right now, so it's still sitting in the den next to the new humidor....you can always come by and help....:noon

Coolers belong in the basement or in a spare room anyway, the simple desktop is the whole
house solution. You watch, once the communal property is assessed and all of his stuff goes in
the attic, he will see how women operate. PFfftt! Like I know, never even been engaged.

Been working on this thing all day. Sanded all of the cedar trays, resealed the interior doors, added a brass door latch and interior lighting. While I wait for the Hydra LG to arrive, I started seasoning it by adding 20 rectrangle humidifiers, 4 bowls of distilled water, and running the broken Oasis II XL that only reads "LLL" on the display since I cleaned and plugged it up.

Did you not try the blow dryer method I posted in your other thread before 86'ing the idea of using the Cigar Oasis?

I just ordered an Avallo 1200 and showed my wife yours so I could say "see, mine isn't that big"... thanks.

Yes I tried it Duane, same results. The guy I bought it from even said that's what it does....I have already ordered the Hydra LG, just waiting...hopefully it will be in sometime next week.

Ok, just wanted to check. If the method had already been tried, makes sense.

I think it's time to get that thing filled up now. :r

Howard, how soon till your Hydra shows up? You can use my Humicare (hydra copy) until then if you want. I'm going to be taking it out soon from my cabinet. The Shilala beads are holding steady now the furnace isn't running much.

I ordered it on Friday, I believe it should be here by Wednesday. I am just trying to season it right now and it seems that the rectriangle humidifiers and bowls of distilled water is working OK for now, but I appreciate the offer.

If the Hydra isn't here by mid week, I may take you up on it...plus....its a good excuse to herf at my house. I will keep you informed and thanks again Bob.

Shawn

Yes Shawn, I finally got it setup and filled. It took about a week to make fine tuning adjustments with the Hydra, beads, and moving a few boxes around. It took a total of about 3-4 weeks from seasoning to an almost perfect humidity level of 68%. I will post photo's on another thread soon. Thanks for asking.
