I'll buy the original Brown label line all day long. I did the special release thing with Tats in the beginning. Then I smoked them and realized I liked the Brown's much better than anything else produced, especially the limited release stuff. Plus, since they are made in the ERdLH factory, the quality is unlikely to change.
:tpd: I'd much rather find solid smokes that I'll be able to get my hands on a year from now.

:tpd:
I'll grab some limited releases if they're right there in front of me, but I'm giving up on going crazy for something I buy and hold onto because I know what I have is all I'll probably ever smoke.
I'll rip brown label Tats all day and die a happy man. :D

No, they are ultra exclusive. The public shall never know and any of Pete's minions who are found to be sharing the super secret information, club hand shake or any of the 'hard to find/test blend' cigars, will be swiftly extradicted to a remote planet and forced to smoke Cremosas and Cohibos for the rest of their days.

I was going to join simply for the sticks but I have since changed my mind. I love me some Tats but the sheer vagueness on the sign up page on what sticks you got kind of irked me. I sent Pete a message on Facebook asking if sticks were even included and he did say that is what the box was on the page and it included 15 sticks but still no mention as to what they would be. For all I knew the rest of the crap would be stuffed in that box so I thought I should ask. I know others said he mentioned what would be included as far as sticks on some boards but I thought it would be kind of beneficial to include that on the e-mails or at least the sign up page which kind of has me thinking that everyone may get something different depending on what they have on hand or maybe need to get rid of. 15 Tats for $150 is not bad but I would also like to know exactly what I am getting for my money too and the fact that he was so vague about it just kind of have the attitude of "Well F you than." I would rather take that $150 and buy what I like rather than a mystery box.(I've never been one for surprises, just ask my wife :D) Again, I do like Tats but it was just the lack of information that bothered me when parting with my money. I guess I can live without my Members Only jacket.:r

Man, I am glad I spent $150 to find out about new releases that are posted on public websites.
I suspect at some point (in the nearish future) there will be exclusive stuff posted on there. But as of now, most of the other stuff is in the public knowledge.
It will be interesting to see:
A. How active Pete stays.
B. How active the forum stays.
The idea is interesting and has worked wonders for Fuente, but it takes a combo of members and the brand owners to partake; particularly when you are charging people.

Wow. You sure are a treat....
If getting a personal Facebook message from Pete is worth your $150, great for you. The 'exclusivity' of this club is little more than hype at this point. You get to find out about new 'blends' about 30 minutes sooner than the regular public and get to sample 'test' blends which could be floor sweepings. Well worth it. :tu

I understand that people have opinions and like to share them. Hell, I share mine all of the time. Most people tolerate most of what I say, and I tolerate most of what others say. Many of the comments in this thread are very nonconstructive. No biggie. I know I can post in thread about drinking booze and mention all of the reasons I don't drink and why I think many others should not as well. I don't though. If people wish to make comments in this thread about how they don't agree with what's happening, etc., whatever. It's their prerogative.
When someone eludes to what is being disclosed or not on a forum they are not on it is BS. The claims you are making sir are out of ignorance either because you are not a member, have not actually browsed that forum, or are misinformed. I am not say you are ignorant, for that would be ignorant of me. I am using the word in it's truest context. Please refrain from making bold comments on something you know absolutely nothing about.
I did join the S&S club. I did it for the sticks, because $150 for what I have faith is coming, is worth more to me than if I dropped that cash on $150 of whatever in a B&M locally. I am rather impressed on what Pete is doing with this so far, and do poke around that forum because of it. As I had imagined, it seems like he's doing this mostly to have fun. If you are a member there, you surely know this.
I've seen some good things happening from the members there. I enjoy the site. I'll never spend as much time there as I do here, for this is my home. CA has done for me what I never had imagined an online forum could and I love this place.
As far as what information he releases, I'll refrain from repeating it openly out of respect for those members of S&S who do pay for that knowledge, not because I feel somehow elevated. I see no reason for those who don't join S&S to practice outgroup prejudice against others who do join though. It's not very brotherly IMO and I think it's just plain childish.

Mario, you are certainly entitled to post your opinion (as you have done here). And to some extent I agree. But not entirely. Many people post in many threads about things they are not knowledgeable about. You don't get to decide who gets to post on what subjects. In fact, neither do the admins - restricted access to certain sub-forums notwithstanding. Participation in an online community takes a thick skin sometimes to overlook stuff and grit your teeth if you have to. Also, what each of us post shapes how others perceive us. But different people form different perceptions of the same thing. What you may see as childish, I (or others) may see as a valid opposing point of view. As long as members here are not personally attacked, I see no problem with these posts critical of the S&S club. Now if person A calls person B an idiot because they chose to join, that is a different story. Not acceptable.
I've rambled enough. Hopefully I've been clear in making my point.
Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

On the motorcycle board I moderate for I also encourage ignore lists. If you notice the same folks raising your blood pressure over and over and over again, why let them? Just ignore them and then have the will power not to view their squashed posts.
Forums are like cities, sometimes small, sometimes large. It's really not possible to like every single person in every town you visit, just part of being human. If you find someone you don't agree with, so what? Not like you have to meet up in r/l and go have a smoke together.
Sorry for the additional derail.

I find this to be a great post. Sometimes, even a thread (this one...or others for that matter) kind of polarize based on topic and make that ignore button that much more helpful.
Like you said, no reason to get worked up over cigars. We all do this for FUN! :tu

Well since you are both refering to me, I appologize for interjecting opinion into an opinion based thread on which plenty of people were saying it wasn't for them as well. Although I doubt either of you will see it and apparently have missed it thus far, I have merely tried to add some fun with my opinion. I fear that now you have both failed to see the humor in my opinion, but others here will attest that the theory of an exclusive club is not for them either.
There are plenty of opinions that people have in this forum, some are agreed with by many, some are agreed with by few. It would appear that on this topic, I am not merely the minority for my opinion of the club being hype. If you are satisfied with the moniker of being a Saints and Sinners Member, then the $150 is well spent, but to discount the fact that some do not feel the need to be in an 'exclusive' club seems to be contradictory to your 'brotherhood' claim as well.
I am sorry for giving my opinion on this thread and especially sorry for trying to make it humorous. This is a forum intended for fun enjoyment of a common hobby we all share, I guess my fun may be percieved differently by different people and my appologies to those who find my posts on the club offensive. :tu

I still didn't join up. I got an email and tried to check something out, and it didn't work. I wasn't going to join anyways, just wanted to stay in the loop.
I'm excited to see what the cigars are that the guys get for the $150. In my way of thinking, there's your value. All the other stuff is just valueless marketing fluff to me.
Now, if I could save 10 bucks on a Tat hat and I like Tat swag, there's some value. I just haven't seen what that entails.
The "exclusive news" will be smeared all over our home here within four seconds of it hitting the internet, so I really don't see much value there.
I just don't like Tatuaje cigars. It bums me out, cause there's so many gazillions that come across the board. That point was to make sense of the fact that I may still join for the smokes because so many of my friends would love them as gifts.
I'm just not remotely sold that there might be $150 value in said smokes, ya know?
Put them away for five years and maybe?

You wouldn't by any chance be referring to giving your opinion pro or anti as was suggested by the OP on post number 1, would you?
That just wouldn't be proper.:D
Just got an e-mail from Tatuaje's Saints & Sinners Club this afternoon.
Concept (simplified and described by me): Join for a certain amount of $ and get access to discounts on LE cigars & swag that others cannot.
Who is going to be joining/passing?
Thoughts on Pete's concept for the club?

When the club packs start shipping I have no doubt someone will post a picture in the recent purchases thread - when that happens everyone can judge for themselves. From the initial glance it looks worth it to me, but I have no problem paying 20-40 bucks a cigar if I really want something (some people are willing to pay a lot more). If you don't smoke a lot or would rather buy a box of something you know you like, go for it.
If it doesn't seem worth it to someone, no worries. Smoke what you like. If you like Tatuajes and do not want to join the club, keep smoking what you like.

Well since you are both refering to me, I appologize for interjecting opinion into an opinion based thread on which plenty of people were saying it wasn't for them as well.
I was not challenging an opinion in my post. The quotes below are the misinformation I was commenting on. I see opinions I don't agree with all of the time. Opinions are opinions and claims are claims. If I posted somewhere that "X" has herpes then someone else may believe it whether it is true or not.
Man, I am glad I spent $150 to find out about new releases that are posted on public websites.
There is information which at least seems to not have been released to the public yet, on this board and others.
The 'exclusivity' of this club is little more than hype at this point. You get to find out about new 'blends' about 30 minutes sooner than the regular public and get to sample 'test' blends which could be floor sweepings. Well worth it. :tu
There are some of the sticks, as has been mentioned in this thread before, that will be released exclusively to S&S members. At least one of these has actually been described in full therefore not being "hype."
This is my opinion. I find nothing to comment about your humor, nor do I dislike you. I will not ignore you. I simply pointed out that you are making bogus claims and made an ignorant. I also asked you not to
(not told you), which has been been brought to my attention as inappropriate, so I apologize for that.
As far as the brotherly comment. IMO (and it is just that) opinions are fine and all. I do feel there is a certain point where they become a little trite. I don't drink alcohol for various reasons, but I don't go into threads that speak of alcohol and constantly barrage them with negative comments. For me, it gets old to read the same "this must suck" style comments. That's just me.
If anyone feels I took my post too far, I apologize. That was not my intent. I know I didn't phrase everything well and did not express myself as I would have liked. My brain is fried from the last three days of exam prep.:)

Muhren I wish you would have said something here instead of S&S regarding me misunderstanding you as this is where I placed my post regarding your analogy of the "country club." Now I am curious to your point that we have paid for a privilege to use this website and its perks.
Now I want all to understand that I am not putting what Pete Johnson is doing, the website or it's members down.
You said that we have paid for a privilege that comes with perks. I am in agreement with you there. Who wouldn't want to try a HTF stick, I'm with you there as well. Now as for member exclusives, using your country club analogy, ALL members are allowed to use the greens, correct? Are we ALL as members and future members allowed to purchase these HTF sticks, meaning is there going to be a box/stick manufactured for each and every member? I don't know the answer and I hope maybe someone will chime in with a yes or no.
I still stick by my original analogy that everything is going to be a first come first served. And I'm all right with that!

If i may say one last thing,
I think I get what everyone is saying so I posted this at the other forum and have added a few things for this forum:
But just like I originally took you post, it did seem that S&S has an "elite" type atmosphere and I think that's what a lot of people dislike. Hell I hate having to go into a B&M and find out that I have to be a member to sit down and use their lounge. So I guess I get the point of why people dislike the idea of having to pay. The HTF's are one thing and we all understand that it's a first come first serve, but having to pay to use a forum i think is what everyone dislikes,
Cigars are for everyone! ! ! Not just for those that can "pay to play."
Now on the flip side people shouldn't hate on those that are willing to play. Just like here, there are "players" that can afford/find the things that everyone can't. I'm not going to hate.
Bottom line here is that we are all brothers of the leaf, and this has seemed to cause quite a rift in the brother hood and that's sad. We all have opinions and that's just what they are, opinions. No need to take anything personally or get snippy with each other.

7 months ago Pete posted pictures of cigars on Facebook he was thinking of putting in the S&S club packs. This alone was worth $150 to me as I enjoy Tat cigars, especially with broadleaf wrapper. I could care less about the thought of it being "exclusive", I actually prefer it isn't thought of that way. To me, it's like paying for a CRA membership. You get CRA exclusive cigars in return there as well. It's not exclusive, but if you can afford it and want to spend the money, then do it.
Of course I'm not comparing S&S to the CRA because that money is supposed to go to fighting for the cause of smokers and the S&S is private, it's just that I think of it as any other membership type thing where I decided to spend my money. I get good cigars in return and other benefits that are well worth it to me. Some of this money actually goes towards charity which is a great thing, and one of the charities has already been discussed as being a recipient which I am happy with and I think most would agree with.
Like others have said, to each their own.
