I had an Equus cameroon today and it was pretty decent. Not a life altering cigar or anything, but a solid smoke. I was curious if anyone had an opinion on these cigars. Anyone else enjoy them? Has anyone tried the maduro? Just looking for some opinions. From what I saw on atlanticcigars.com, they go for about $4/stick. That's not awful. Just thought I'd send a feeler out and get some opinions, if they exist.

Atlantic sent me some Equus freebies with an order one time. I tried a couple and a buddy tried a couple. He thought they were okay, I thought they were slightly less than okay but smokable. They were definitely rough in appearance. They looked something like a Frankenstein cigar, complete with stitches and scars.

I can't recall any distinct flavor profile. They were dark, so they may have been Maduro (or dyed to look like Maduro). I don't think I'd want to pay $4 a piece for them.

Atlantic cigar is apparently the exclusive retailer of these cigars. I also received them in a sampler bag.
But as to a review, someone is bound to post a link to Jerry from Stogie Review. I will see if I can come across it if no one else posts the link! You have been warned.

Here's what Stoogie Review had say about them. I've got a couple in the humi but I've been leary of smoking them since watching Jerrys review. :pu

so these are clearly not a well respected cigar. I read that review after smoking it. I didn't have that experience at all. The construction was fine, and the burn was solid. Like I said earlier, the flavor wasn't amazing or anything. I'd guess though, after thinking about it, I could get any average cigar for well below $4/stick.

Please tell me you actually watched it. I am stuck with those images in my mind forever when I look at that cigar in my humidor. I just need to know others do too! :D

I love Jerry's review, but Brian did a review this year and didn't think it was so bad. http://www.stogiereview.com/2008/09/17/equus-limited-ligero-cameroon-gordo/

I have had four Equus from Atlantic, two Cameroon Toros and two Maduro Toros, which were included in varying samplers - one paid for sampler, the others freebies. One pair of Cameroon and Maduro was supposedly aged for several years, as it came in one of Atlantic's paid for 'grab bag gold' samplers.

On the whole, I can only echo the sentiments already expressed. They were nice to look at, very well constructed and had good burn properties, but lacked in the taste department - the little flavour which I could discern was one dimensional, bland, even with the aged pair, regardless of maduro or cameroon. Having looked up their price at the time, I thought that they were far too expensive for what they are.

I guess I had more of a Brian experience. The one I had was not as terrible as Jerry's. Flavor was pleasant, but mild. Constuction was solid.

I had to read that play/book in AP English, that alone is enough to conjure up bad thoughts. That is one bizarre play. No Equus for me.
