I am looking for advice on Dvd Ripper software. I'm not looking to convert dvd's to my phone or Ipod, just looking to put my movies on my hard drive. Which software do you guys use or recommend?

Thanks:)

I use CloneDVD with AnyDVD to create an iso file. Very easy to use interface. I bought the license years ago before the price went way up.

I use DVD Shrink.

I use DVDshrink also and DvdFab. Sometimes, dvdshrink will not let you convert the files, but dvdfab will. I have most of my trouble when trying this with Sony dvd's. Hope this helps.

If you can't find Dvdshrink on the net, pm me your addy and I can burn you a copy.

Is there one program that I can buy that removes the protection and also copies the dvd?

I use DVD Shrink, let it do its thing.

Save the file in a new folder.

Then I use ImgBurn to burn.
http://www.imgburn.com/
Open up ImgBurn find the folder that you just made with DVDShrink.
Burn away.

Safe programs to use? And hows the quality of the burn?

I've never had any trouble with them. If you don't like them they un-install nice and clean.
The burn seems fine, they look good on my Vizio using a Samsung BluRay player.
I like their price.:D

CloneDVD and AnyDVD can be downloaded for a trial run..21 days I think.
I have used it for the trial and it works great. I would buy it if all the freebies quit working..

I think I will try DVDfab and give it a test drive later.

ImageBurn is a very good writing/burning program that is freeware/donationware.

DvDshrink misses some of the newer DvDs but is also free.

DVDFab will get most all DvDs - paid version will do the rest conversion etc - DvDShrink will take care of it after DVDFab and then onto image burn.

at one point I was using Iriverter (an app made by Iriver) to convert DvDs over to avi/mp3 player compatible files but I don't believe it is around anymore.

I use DVDFAB for DVDs.

Handbrake is for PCs as well, I use it everyday to do Blurays.

Me too. I used to use DVDFab / DVDShrink but the guys at SlySoft (CloneDVD / AnyDVD) are really on top of things. One of the best purchases I've made.....:tu

I use ConvertXtoDVD. Great program, does everything. Encodes then burns. They have a free ( trial version ) and a pay version. I have a key if you want to give it a whirl. Let me know.

IMGburn works ok. I noticed some lag between video and audio. But then again it's free. Imgburn is just for burning.

DVDFlick is also free but has some minor issues. DVDFlick can be used to convert, but it is extremely slow.
