View Full Version : Waxing Moon is awesome

I just wanted to give Ed at waxingmoon props for doing a tremendous job. I just received my humi today from him and was blown away by the craftsmanship. As I started to unwrap the packaging I felt like a little kid on Christmas. Each layer that came off I could smell the cedar grow stronger. The humi is beautiful and the seal is amazing. I know this thread is useless without pics, I have to figure out how to take pic with my phone and paste it but under the waxingmoon thread it's #76, birdseye maple and bloodroot. Thanks again Ed for an outstanding job.:noon

FWIW, and this is NOT directed at you, Chris, just responding to a post in the thread -- it makes me a little uncomfortable to think that guys would post pics of their empty humidors hoping to encourage a bomb or two. That's called "fishing" and is diametrically opposed to what most brothers here stand for. This place is one of the most generous in the world of cigar forums. I have personally experienced the generosity of a good many brothers here, but I chafe a bit at those who try to get something for nothing. Give to this community, and the returns will plentiful. It may even include cigars, but it will most assuredly include some very strong friendships.

Sorry to hijack your thread a bit, Chris. Again it was not directed at you in any way, but there's been some off-putting statements made in the forums recently, and I've had just about my fill of it.

So by all means, post your empty humis to your heart's content. But do it to show off your prized new toy (as Chris has done) and not in the hopes that some CA Santa Claus is gonna send a stocking full of sticks.

Np Vin, definetly not looking for freebies, but I have seen that recently too. I don't have any empty humi, well my new one is but after it's done seasoning I will be putting my stash from my cheap humi into my sweet one :noon. I'll post picks when done but how the hell do I make my pics bigger, I'm snapping from phone, sending to email and I get this puny pic, I'm sending full size from phone to email. What the hell

I agree with Vin on the mooch posts and as he stated, no one (I hope) saw your post as such :tu

To post bigger pics upload them to a photobucket account and it will allow you to post them full size

AND...Very nice humidor!!! I will definitely be keeping Ed in mind when ordering a humi for my office!

It may very well be that you were being sarcastic, and maybe people that know you knew that you were being sarcastic, but for those of us that don't know you your comment came off as promoting fishing and mooching.

Further, new readers may read your post and think "that's the way it is on CA -- go fishing for sticks by showing your empty humi".

I'm not trying to pick on you, but if you want people to read sarcasm into your post -- use a smiley or be explicit by saying "just being sarcastic", or maybe just skip the comment...

Just my :2

Maybe they didnt think they would have to spell it out to folks.

In this circumstance, I would say yes.

However, I think this thread has been jacked enough already. If you would like me to explain to you how things "used to be" please PM me, I would be happy to share. This offer applies to anyone.

Now I know this is really going to sound like a noon but I have to ask so I know. What exactly is a herf, and also, I know b&m is my local shop but what do the initials stand for. BE NICE

A herf is a cigar party in a sense. Some people who enjoy smoking getting together to relax and enjoy each others company.

I would hope that no one would get upset with or attack at you for asking this kind of question -- it's a good question and many people do not know what a herf is.

Fortunately, the TOE thought of this and put together this thread:

BTW, very nice humi -- I hope you get many, many years of enjoyment with it!

Dumb "noon's"!! :r:r

As the others have said Chris, a HERF is a gathering of cigar smokers. They can be either small (a couple guys) or large (a couple hundred), are almost always a good time, and a great way to meet some of your fellow CA'ers. The one I referenced is being held in Worcester at Cigar Masters.

Here are some details:
http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/showthread.php?t=42175

B&M, Brick & Mortar refers to a physical shop (cigars, clothing, etc.) as opposed to an internet based business. Many B&Ms also have internet based customers (JR Cigars, Famous Smoke Shop, Holts, etc) but many are also mom and pop type operations.

No reason to be worried about asking questions here, they are encouraged. I had the same questions when I first started.
