View Full Version : So it's getting cold out...where do you smoke?

I am not sure where I'll be smoking this winter. The wife and I are moving, so I'm going to have to discover a new location I guess once a new house is found. I used to sneak a few down in my basement when I was up in Buffalo. I don't think I've done a winter in GA yet. Stupid Army is always keeping me busy during the winters. Anyway, just curious where everyone goes to keep smoking during the cold.

Nowhere...once in a while it'll be at the B&M but usually I don't get to smoke at all. :(

Well that's just sad. I know I don't smoke nearly as often once it gets cold. Sometimes I just man up, throw the jacket on, and head out into the cold. I just get the itch.

Mugen910

I def would man up but I'm to much of a sissy...though once I have to start shoveling I'll throw a stogie in my mouth since I have to be outside anyhow :tu

Now that's commitment. I like it. I haven't had to shovel in a few years now, sadly. I miss my snow. Can't wait to get back up north where it's actually cold during winter.

If there's no snow or rain: my backyard with a heater, parka, hat, and sometimes gloves.

Otherwise: (a) I don't smoke, or (b) I'll try to catch one in my car on the way home from work (1+ hour drive).

I'm down to 1-2 a week this time of year.

Our cigar club has a deal with a local hookah bar, which is right off campus, and they let us smoke in there. It's only once a week, but without that we wouldn't have any place to go.

I will smoke in the garage sometimes and roll the door open just enough to let the smoke out, sometimes on a nice day in the south east I just go outside and light up. I love this weather.

If it's cold but not windy: On the back deck with a propane heater.

If it's windy/raining/snowing: ManLand (the back of the garage with electric heater, fan pointed out the window & portable CD player blasting).

Right there in the Blue Chair. I still need to go get a space heater, however, with the highs in the 50's so far, it hasn't been bad at all.

I am really lucky. I was freaking out thinking I would have to brave the cold but even though there are no b & m's anywhere in the Northwoods where I am living, there are taverns where I can go to smoke.

With Cali weather also comes the Cali Tobacco tax. You can keep em both! :r
I'm better off than I was a little over a year ago when I was still living on Long Island. I can now smoke a stick in the garage with a sweat shirt on and still not be too cold here in NC. Last Christmas I was able to sit and enjoy a PAM in the garage and not suffer too bad. The wife even joined me. Back in NY the wife would look at me smoking in the garage in the winter and walk back in shaking her head mumbling I'm a moron.:D

I'm in my 1 1/2 car garage whose garage door is now sealed. My truck is now outside for the duration of winter. I have a 240 volt electric space heater that keeps it toasty warm, full time.

I'll soon have a TV but for now have my wireless computer (Slacker radio) and am surrounded by my reloading stuff, bullet casting set-up, lab equipment for my coalbed methane job, tools, fly tying stuff and soon-to-be indoor 21 foot range for my 1911 pattern airsoft pistol for practicing for our steel plate shoots. Also a lazy-boy and a couple of extra, well padded chairs for company (in case any of you "nuts" decide to stop by for a smoke).

I come out here every morning and have a cigar and coffee and cruise the net while listening to music on the computer.

I screened in my back porch this fall, and have made plexiglass storms for the inside. Right now I'm sitting our here with my radiant heater going, smoking a Taboo LR Figurado, listening to the radio and playing with my netbook computer.

I'm planning on installing an exhaust fan in a week or so, just to help keep the smoke down (the ceiling isn't very high)... :D

In the garage, as usual. It's about 35 out and we are expecting some snow, but it is just fine in garage in a long sleeve shirt. No heater tonight, if I get chilly I'll put on a sweatshirt. The position of my house really helps too since the garage is in the back and there is very little wind.

In my smoking room. I decided that my workout room had enough space for a chair, my humis, a TV and a radio/CD player. I put a humidifier in there, a fan backwards in the window, and all kindsa candles. When I smoke, I turn the fan on, once I'm done I burn a candle for a while. I also have one of those breeze machines that not only adds humidity to the room, but also helps with the aroma. Also use one of those Oust fans for actually helping with the odor.(I do have them in my humis as well.)

Really hard to tell that there's a cigar smoker in the house unless it's during or right after I smoke. And then, only if you walk by the room itself!

My winter smoking is 1/10 that of summer. In Oregon its not too cold, but almost drizzling. I did not pay enough attention when I bought my condo and have no covered patio!!! DAMMMMM stupid mistake but I bought before I got serious about sticks. If the craving gets large, I can go into the garage, but I do not like it.

Last winter I smoked in my car. Brrrrrr. This spring I set up a corner of the basement with 2 bathroom fans hooked up to shoot the smoke outside. I used flexible hose on the discharge side of the fans and made a plywood panel with holes for the hoses that fits in the window. It looks really bad, but it works. No one uses the basement and after 1/2 an hour the area is clear. No more cold outside this winter.:)

You guys need to come visit Canada in the winter. :) I'm in Toronto, which isn't a very cold city, and it dipped down to -12C (aka 10 degrees Fahrenheit) with the wind last night. Not fun to smoke in!

I've caved and I'm smoking indoors now. I personally don't like the cigar smell that's left in the room afterwards. So I open up a window, setup shop near that window, and face a small fan near me to ensure that the smoke floats outside. The room still smells of smoke afterwards, but it doesn't last until the next day. I'd go for no smoking in the winter, but reading / listening to a book just isn't the same without a good smoke. :)

Garage, patio, or livingroom depends on what is going on, in the summer I smoke inside, winter is when we can smoke outside.

2 years ago we redid the covered patio area. Added a heater, 2 ceiling fans a flatscreen TV and outdoor furniture. Being in So Cal there aren't too many days that are too cold for a smoke outside but if it does get cold the heater works well.

I feel for you guys in cold areas, anything less that 50 degrees and I would not want to be outside having a smoke.

I don't think I'd be able to smoke in the car. I don't see ever getting rid of that smell. Any time someone came into your car they'd have to deal with it. Hmmmmm. I'll have to find a place with a garage in VA I guess.
