Figure cant go wrong with 20 bucks. (If i Get it for 20 or less)
but Found this Deal on eBay its a turn-Key Cigar/Humidor Online Business. You run the site, and all purchases are handled though a dropship company. I talked to the company selling it. and They showed me a price list for Profit and such and I compared some prices around to see if this would work..
And Most everything depending on how much profit I wanna make I can sell most everything for a couple bucks cheaper than Famous Smokes and CI. And Still make a small profit.. Nothing crazy.
I dunno Seemed like something fun to maybe get into but it may turn more into a big headache. So I figure for 20 bucks why not I can always shut it down if it gets to be more of a hassle than its worth lol
So anyways look for me to be running a site soon (if I win the bid) I'll see how it goes. Maybe do a CA Promo Code and have you all test it out for me haha
The One thing i dont like about it is the Domain Name it comes with. Its pretty lame so I gotta come up with something else. mycigarstore.com isnt gonna fly I dont think. :sh

But you have o remember other fees as well associated with websites such as hosting.
So if I were to call who would be on the other end of the phone?

Yep 13.99 a Month, However I own my own web server and I asked about moving it and it will cost 20 bucks to have to moved to my server.

You Know I have no Idea if there is a Number even attached to it.. I think its all Live Chat or E-Mail for Contact info.

Yes there are. Most of them though cost several hundred or several thousand though. This one the guy is basically just selling the set up and the contacts to the dropshipper.

I saw 7 of the on-line dropship variety for less than $50 searching "cigar business".

I Paid Less than 20. I dunno, Just have to see how it goes.. It says I can change the name, and use my own webserver if I want. They just provide you the tools to get started and how it works.

Other costs to think about are Uncle Sam's Taxes, a tobacco resellers license, business license and a bank to handle online tobacco purchases, seems as though they arent easy to find.

Actually these are not hard to find. Just by doing a quick Google search I was able to find where to obtain the tobacco reseller's license, business license, taxes, and the bank. This is for the state of California though.
Another thing to keep in mind is credit card processing. By my guess 90% of all sales online are via credit card.

Already done. :)
and the here in Oklahoma After talking to the Local Oklahoma tax folks, because the Tobacco is being Drop shipped and that company is not located in Oklahoma. No Tobacco permit is needed nor do I have to require state tax. However If in the event someone thats in the same state as the drop shipper then they have to pay that state tax.
So All I need is a Federal and State Business Tax ID. Which is already on Its way.
but according to the previous owner there are 4 drop shippers for that reason. Say customer 1 is from Florida and thats where Drop ship Company #1 is. Then Id Pick Drop ship Company #2 out of Pennsylvania so the Florida customer dont have to pay taxes. Drop shipping has tons of advantages and some disadvantages too. Requires alot of paperwork and attention on my part.
Credit Card Processing is handled via ******, Square.com and I have 2 other Vendors as well that will/can handle it.

Well
I didnt win the bid.. Was beat by 51 cents..
however i think the deal was kinda shady anyways.. Because I had a Bid on another similar web company. And was beat by the same person by 51 cents. So I think Im better off not wining those bids.
Im going to keep my eyes out. Even if i dont make much money I still think it'd be fun to have a little business like that to share in my hobby.

Well Attempt #2. We'll See what happens. Bid end in 5 days.
On the Flip side From the same company I got my Wife a "Book" Business Should have the Info Tomorrow on how to set it up and such. That will tell me right then and there if the cigar thing is a good idea or not.

I looked into these for awhile. I contacted a few of them and it felt shady. Not to mention they keep mass producing these things with different names. The drop shipper they were using for products had ridiculous prices. Even if you could get a wholesaler you would have to sell tons to even compete with all the other great legit sites out there. I think it could be done with a lot of hard work, good word of mouth, and some good marketing though.

You know the more I think about it .. the more I hope I dont win the Bid..
I just thought of a great idea. now Im not a good Mobile app maker.. But I can program web apps like no other.. And Im thinking of starting a web app that you can inventory your cigar collection on a webpage, share it with others if you chose and add Twitter and FB in it so you can share what you are smoking? I think i gotta alot of work ahead of me.

What I meant by hard to find was a CC processor that will do tobacco internet transactions, because apparently age verification is an issue. Sorry I wasnt too clear in my post.

Well I contacted Pay-Pal and they didnt seem to have any issues with it for sure. I will double check the others.

It is censored because numerous BOTLs have had their accounts suspended and money seized by them for tobacco transactions. No search of the name of said site will lead here.

Not really, they're covering their butt for the liability of you possibly selling to someone underage. CI requires you to be 21 and has been known to request a copy of people's drivers license.
From CI:
"NOTE: Cigars International does not sell cigars to anyone under the age of 21.
Cigars International does not sell cigarettes of any kind. If you are under 21 years old, please do not enter our site. "
From P*yP*l:
"What types of tobacco products does ****** prohibit?
We don’t allow transactions for most tobacco product because of the legal requirements and industry regulations for online tobacco sales.
This includes:
* Cigarettes
* Smokeless tobacco
We may allow transactions related to Cigars but you must get prior permission from ****** and agree to certain terms and conditions. "
