I was going to take the wife. I'm sick as a dog, and I don't want to try to enjoy it with a skull full of meds and poor hearing, not to mention coughing a lung out won't let others enjoy it. I had planned for weeks to go on the premiere, which is something I rarely do, but Bond films are the ones I make exceptions for.

Ditto... I will probably go for an early afternoon showing on Sunday to save some cash...
The stupid movie theaters here have the ticket prices jacked up to just shy of $10 each for a damn fri/sat night showing... lame!

I'm there tonight. I almost never go to the movies but a friend of mine set up the whole evening with a bunch of people, dinner before etc. How do you say no to that?

Work is going to be crazy for the next few eeks, so I am going to try and catch it on Monday night. I have really been looking forward to seeing this movie.
Caught a midnight showing last Thursday. I like Daniel Craig as Bond. The story I think was rushed a bit, but enjoyable. Didn't care too much for the villain or how the CIA is portrayed.

My thoughts exactly. Movie was fine but all action without much plot or a decent "bad guy".

As long as it's not Timothy Dalton, it can't be too bad.
My favorite Bond was the Lazenby version, but Craig does a great job as well.

It was pretty decent. Very similar to Casino in style, but the plot was lacking a bit for me... I hope they develop it better in the next one!
Still worth seeing though if you are a bond fan...

It was much more violent, more action and faster then the other bonds, but I liked it. It was definately a break with the past.

I like craig as bond, really I do. but if they don't do a better job writing the future ones, bond will be deaad in a few movies.
this one had lots of action, sure... but plot was thin at best, and obviously stretched to fit over the holes.
the mark of a good movie is one that you hopefully would want to see again. I enjoyed my time at the theater... but have no desire to see it again!

I saw it today and I thought it was ok. Lots of action, we thought it was more in line with the Bourne movies. I was disapointed when Bond drank scotch, some gin thing and didn't get the girl. I was also bummed with no gadgets. What's Bond with no Q?
Waiting for the next one.

What's Bond with no Q?
At that point it's really just another generic action movie.
Sounds like they're writing Bond out of his own movies, change the name and you'd never know the difference.

I liked it....great action....believeable that Bond can actually kick some a$$. I thought it was a lot better than the ones with Brosnan. Now Bond is back!

I liked this movie. NOt as much as Casino, but it certainly sets the stage for some excellent flicks. I think with the whole, no wimmins comes from the whole getting past vesper. He was about to get past with Agent Fields, but sadly...

:tpd: Agreed, mostly. I wasn't bothered as much about the not-getting-the-women as I was with the thinly spread plot, a notable difference between Quantum and Casino. I'll gladly add it to my collection when it comes out...hopefully in blu-ray format if Santa does his job right.
I'll attribute the thin plot to the directing and editing, as there were hints of story's true drama peppered in and fully developed. SPOILER ALERT: I mean, water v. oil as the critical issue facing the world is a very real problem, and a few more minutes devoted to sussing that out might have lent more gravitas to the film. Might also have helped deepen the nefariousness of the Dominick Greene/LeChifre connection. That had potential. Meh. Still good stuff.
For me, the biggest complaint I have with Quantum was the torrid Bond theme, done by Alicia Keys and Jack White. A clunky mashup of soul-pop singing (sorry folks, that woman can't carry a note, don't care how hot she might be) and turgid downtempo pop-rock rhythms has NO place in a Bond film. A multi-note fart from Steve Carrell would have been more appropriate.
