When was your last database update? Mine says Dec. 2009 and the app just shuts off when I try to do an update so I don't know if it connects and finds none or if it is getting an error.

Thanks!!

Mine just says no updates. It doesn't shut off. Everything still works fine, just no updates in a while.
Maybe try reinstalling it?

Jeff. Where do you see this information. I'm unable to locate it anywhere within the program.

:tpd: I know Ken sold the app a few months back, and frankly, I'm more than a little disappointed by the lack of support the new owner has provided. The DB hasn't been updated since the sale, and it sucks, becuase this was my most used cigar app.

It's at the bottom of the references section. There is a spot to touch to check for updates

Ok thank you. So my last update was Dec '09. Just updated this second and it added 404 cigars and changed 130.

I am guessing that if I reinstall I will lose all my data entry. I am probably not getting updates because I am using it on an ITouch and it might not work over wifi perhaps.

Jeff -- you're not getting updates because the DB hasn't updated. If I read his post correctly, Chingas last updated in Dec 2009: he was missing several months worth of updates that took place pre-sale of the app. There hasn't been anything new since the sale.

As for losing your data, that may happen on reinstall: I remember Ken saying that was a bug. You are, however, able to email yourself the data in spreadsheet form so you at least have a back-up. Unfortunately, there's no way to upload the data back into the app, but at least you have the data in some form.

Is there a similar app for those who have a Blackberry?

Jordan is working on one but I don't know where that's at right now.

I check for an update every month or so. I've been disappointed with the support since the sale. There's a lot of new stuff out there.

I think I remember seeing Colin post something about transfer of ownership and not being able to update for those of us who bought before the transfer. I will look to see if I can find that post. I am not sure if it was here or on another board/site. I expected the great app to only get better with the transfer to Colin but I agree I have not been impressed.

As you can see the first post Ken and Colin had intended to have prior owners transfer the app data to the new version. I do not see anything new about the fix. As Apple had to remove Kens version to place Colin up. I know Colin is out of town with his Cigar Tourism business most of this month so I would not expect to see anything soon.

Since Colin took over in October 2010 there hasn't been a single update to either the app itself or the database. It is very bad to ruin a good app in this way. He's obviously too interested in his cigar trips and stuff to bother about Mobile Stogie??

Makes me wonder why he took it over in the first place? Funny he hasn't mentioned Mobile Stogie a single time he's been on Dogwatch cigar radio since October...

Same thing happens to me. I have tried reinstalling and still just shuts off when I try to update. I thought maybe an Iphone 4 glitch since it worked fine on my 3.

Thanks for the link.
Sounds like there won't be any updates on the version most of us have.

I've been using it for almost a year now and love it, I know some want an update it doesn't bother me though. It takes about a minute to add a cigar to the database so that's what I do. But all I want to know is what I have in stock so I don't demand so much from it.
