Don Fernando

Some time ago I smoked this A.J. Fernandez made La Herencia Cubana oscuro fuerte robusto (http://www.sigarenliefhebber.nl/donblog.php?misc=search&subaction=showfull&id=1270289100&archive=&cnshow=news&ucat=1&start_from=&) and loved it. Now this is the normal La Herencia Cubana blend, a Nicaraguan cigar with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper and a 5x50 size.

I see a nice medium dark wrapper with a few veins that make the cigar look rough and tough. I like the band. The cigar has a nice wood and barnyard smell. The construction feels good. The predraw is on the loose side and I taste a spicy and peppery raisin flavor.

The first flavors are spicy, lots of herbs and mild bitter. Dry and full. The flavors are also mild sweet. After half an inch the flavors get a little less spicy and full, but they remain mild bitter. After an inch the bitterness disappears and I taste a mild chocolate flavor with the spices and herbs.

I taste herbs with some wood and spices and that's it. No development on the palate afterwards, just more of the same. Near the end I get a splash of black pepper.

This cigar has a smoke time of an hour and ten minutes. I got a lot of thick smoke. The draw is on the loose side. The medium gray ash is firm. I had a couple of burn issues and the purge is huge. This cigar is full flavored and full bodied.

Would I buy this cigar again? It is a nice cigar, but I like the oscuro fuerte better.
