I've come to a point in my life where I have to make a long term decision. Many of you know that I'm a Marine for life.....20+ years.

I've been looking at how to better my retirement for my family and myself and have come to the conclusion that I should put in a Warrant Officer package and become an officer in the Marine Corps. Yea i'll be leaving my enlisted ranks behind but I do need to look forward to the future and how to make it better for my little ones.

In putting in this package I need to re-take my ASVAB and score a little higher. Last time I took it was back in 1996 when I was still in high school and I didn't study or try. So now I need to study to boost my grades.

I apologize ahead of time if I don't respond to PMs or get on as often as I usually do. But I will be focused on studying heavily right after the New Year for the entire month.

Hopefully my avatar will be changing within the next year or so the a Warrant Officer insignia....who knows.

Wish me luck

All the best, Brother.
Hopefully you can squeeze in (or out) a S.H.I.T. now and then. ;)

Best of luck Jay. :tu Being a retired 1SG...you know my comment is gonna be "The Corps/Army/Navy/Air Force/Coast Guard still need GOOD senior NonComs". And while we hate to lose you, everyone fully understands making life better for the family. :tu :tu You'll just be serving in a different capacity. :r

Well tomorrow's the day. 8:30 AM PST I will begin the 3 hour ordeal that can determine the rest of my career.

It's all or nothing now.

Edit: Just noticed this is post 1775 for me. First person who never served in the military and can tell me the significance of this number AND WHY gets a 5er from me.

Gunny Jay becomes Mr. Gunner Jay. I like it although I was hoping to see you become a SgtMaj (of the USMC?). As far as test preparation, perhaps talking to a local recruiter would help. All junior NCO's love to do favors for Gunny's, at least this is what my Company Gunny told me as a young LCpl picking up Cpl. Good luck in your ventures Jay. Semper Fi, Paul:tu
