My mother in law, her husband and 3 dogs just now showed up on my door step to stay with us for an undetermined time while they look for a house to buy and move into. Kind of a "Cousin Eddy" sort of situation.
Please pray for me!:r

accept the things I cannot change,
Courage, to change the things I can, and
Wisdom to hide the bodies of those people

have to kiss tomorrow.

Day 3 update: Sorry I wasn't around to much yesterday, The wife and I took her employees to brunch at a nice resort casino here and we got a room and stayed the night. They have a great cigar lounge, very nice restaurants and we had an excellent time, until we returned to our home, or what I now affectionately refer to as "Hell House"!
As I walked through the door this morning upon our return, I suddenly felt myself transforming into Colonel Kurtz from Apocalypse Now as I begun mumbling "The Horror, The Horror".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNUr__-VZeQ
My front entry rug has become a dog urine receptacle. The grout under the dining table was now a stream of yellow tributaries flowing , as best I can tell, toward the pacific. There are half eaten dog treats strewn about the house. I will spare you the details of how the house smells as I will leave that to your imagination.
My MIL tried to make me believe it was our dog who has been soiling the entry rug, a feat she has yet to accomplish in the last eight years, and as I got down on my hand and knees to clean the tributaries under the table, my MIL's husband, who was seated at the table using his laptop, would not move his feet so that I could clean under them.
They just left to go look at homes and took their 3 dogs with them. I will continue to clean the house now that they are gone as soon as I am done cleaning my hunting rifles.:D :gn

Kevin: In all seriousness, it is NOT acceptable that they destroy your house. They need to be told that they are guests, and anymore urine on the floor will be one drop too much, and they will have to vacant and move to a hotel. Likewise any undue "takeover" of the house or refrigerator contents by said people will result in immediate removal. It's funny only up to a point. I really think you need to talk to your wife and tell her that what is going on is beyond the pale, and the trespassers need to be moved to a hotel.

I really feel bad for you, brother. I hope that you can get rid of these people before you lose your sanity and good humor!

Not judging just saying brother. many a time we had talks but issues didn't change so start the talks...you sound like a strong man, keep your wife into how you feel and whats going on and deal with it together.

Kevin had another thread where he said his FIL (not the one staying with him) passed away yesterday, so he might not be able to update here at the moment.

Thank you Tom, you are correct. My true father in-law who just passed lived in northern Ca.
I will be up dating you all shortly on the further trails and tribulations here at the Casa as soon as I gather my scattered thoughts (and get back from the hardware store as I needed to pick up a shovel, lg plastic bags, duct tape and lye :r)

Are they still with you, Kevin? If so, they have now established residency, and the only way to get them to leave will be formal eviction. ;)

So, did you put the rat dogs in kennels until they need to go out?
As soon as the situation involved me cleaning up "oops" from someone elses dog for the second time (I give them a bye on the first time) I would be purchasing kennels for each dog and if they weren't outside doing their business or eating, in they would go. Wouldn't hurt the dogs for a week or two as long as they got walks, and would make the owners kick it into gear to get out, I would hope.

Hang in there, Kevin.
