Man when I first read the title, I thought it was CA - California and I wouldn't get to play, then it dawned on me..

5-guys - burger of choice - bacon, fresh cut jalapenos, grilled onions, A-1 steak sauce. Need I say more?

Stake and Shake is a close second, then Wendy's.

But then are times when I gotta have a Big-Mac or some Krystals. now I'm hungry.

Hands down, it's a little local joint with three locations in Bham only. Called Hamburger Heaven. Worth trying if you get down this way.

5 Guys is definitely one of the best burger joints around. Here is my go to:

Bacon, jalapenos, grilled onions, lettuce, cheese, bbq sauce.

Very similar to JKim's but with BBQ instead of A-1.

Tart's Grill---A very small, of the beaten path joint run by an older lady named Betty. Best Carolina burger (mustard, onions, chilli and slaw) in this area.

Also like the Tastee Freeze burgers, but I think the last one in North Carolina closed down recently.:(

Hardees (Carl's) gets my vote for the classic lettuce and tomato burger, though. :D

I prefer my burgers Med-Rare, so that cuts out many joints from having a decent, edible burger. Damn Food Police. My favorite joint? Mine. ;) Nothing like a half pounder, done right on the grill with anything from a Sesame Kaiser, to some great ciabatta for a roll, good cheese, anything from Blue to co-jack, thick cut bacon, or one of a hundred different toppings. The drinks are always cold, the company is great, and you can go directly to the cigar lounge after dining, if it strikes the fancy.

Man that sounds great right about now.

As far as Burger joints go I like In-and-out and Red Robin. I&O cuz it is fast and tastes good. RR cuz burgers are good and you can have a beer when the kids can have a shake.

I'll have to hit up a fuddruckers for lunch one of these days. Five Guys is awesome, I agree, but In-N-Out is amazing. The first thing I do when I fly out to the left coast is hit up the nearest stand! :dr

For a fast food style burger nobody around beats the WhiteHut in West Springfield, MA Make sure you order with fried onions (carmalized)

For a more "gourmet" burger the Blue Cheese burger from Plan B in Glastonbury, CT is the best ive had...

1 inch thick, carmalized onions, bluecheese and burbon sauce...:dr:dr:dr

Some great calls in here.

Barneys and In & Out are my go to places, though I've been laying off the burgers lately.

The best burger I've ever had was from Izzy's Steak and Chophouse in SF. I don't know why I was ordering the burger at an awesome steak place. It just sounded good at the time. It was really fricking good and I'd order it again. Tasted like it was made from ground filet mignon.

I'll need to try out Big Burger in Concord.

http://www.mcsorleysnewyork.com/home.html

I've never been impressed by Bartley's. I've eaten there a few times and I think it's fairly over rated and survives mostly on it's fame and reputation.

For my dollar I would rather grab a burger at R.F. O'Sullivan's (http://www.rf-osullivan.com/). The menu's not as extensive as Bartley's but the burgers are much more tastey.

I also really enjoy Eagle's Deli (http://www.eaglesdeli.com/). I ate the "Godzilla" burger once many years ago and my picture may still be on the wall there. Also, it was named "2nd best place in the world to pig out." Breakfast there is really great as well and my friend has a sandwich there named after him called the Messy Marvin.

Also, whenever I'm in Vegas I like to drop by Postrio for a burger (http://www.wolfgangpuck.com/restaurants/finedining/postrio/lasvegas/). The first couple of times I had it it was AMAZING. It had fresh mozzarella on it, carmelized onions, and a balsamic glaze. It didn't even need ketchup. They've changed it since but it's still pretty good.

Also, Abe & Louie's (http://www.abeandlouies.com/) has a great burger and also a great Tuna burger made from ground up Tuna steak.
