So, we all use little hygrometers in our 'dors. They are run with a little electrical cell that varies according to the RH. But, in a lab, you use a more fundamental measurement instrument called a wet bulb/dry bulb hygrometer. Basically, one of the thermometers is kept in a wet sleeve. This is cooled by the evaporation. This difference between the two can be converted to RH.

This is the one we built for the lab where I work. And, no salt test is needed!

Thanks. One of our techs was wheeling it around and I realized I had to post it.

Very cool. They make smaller ones. The military uses them to determine humidity and in addition to the temperature we determine the heat category. Heat Category determines work/rest cycle and changes in uniform/hydrations cycles.

Come on guys, I've seen some of your beautiful humidors the size of a Buick. Should be no problem using this hygrometer.:D

I'm sure a decent size coolidor would fit that beast no problem. I'd imagine my 120 quart would fit it just fine. Standing up probably.
