I love a good shave with a nice straight razor! I find that the more things in my daily life that I do "the old fashioned" way the happier I am in general. Wonder why that is :hm

The link above is a good one for wetshavers and includes DE'ers as well as Str8's. I am a Str8 user. I'm currently using a couple of 5/8's. One's a Trusteel, and the other is BlueSteel bothe German steel and I also have a W.G Wilton I won in a raffle at a Str8 meet. http://www.straightrazorplace.com/forums/attachments/workshop/48085d1283128663-w-g-wilton-celebrated-razor-big-ole-chopper-wilton-2.jpg

I've got a DublDuck, Wade & Butcher and a handful of others I need to polish up and get honed.

I've pretty much settled on Mitchel's Wool Fat and Tabac as shaving soaps. My wife made up some really sweet buckskin razor rolls for a bunch of the guys over at straight razor place. Good group of guys over there.

Also my BurmaShave brush. Good to know theres lots of Str8 Razor fans here. I prefer the Str8 for its close shave and the lack of razor burn!

I have never done this but I keep telling myself one of these days I'm going to go to a Barber shop in town and get this done. People say it's the best way to shave.

My hesitation.....as Martel said....I'm afraid of cutting myself.

well it is a learning thing. Ive cut myself a few times.. honesty you know when you do and you stop yourself, and if your razor is sharpened right, it don't hurt.. the syptic stick after wards might sting, but ive never had a bad cut.

How much would it cost to get basics?
