Any Star Trek: TNG fans out there?

It's my guilty pleasure. As a kid I never missed an episode, I had the toys, saw the movies in the theater, etc. I have always thought this was the best Star Trek series, even better than the original. Today I've spent most of the day watching a marathon on Sci-Fi.

At this point in my life, I would not call myself a Trekkie. I do enjoy this show, a lot though.

ST:TNG most definitely the BEST Star Trek there is. No lie!

I don't consider myself a Trekkie, but I do like the original Trek the best. TNG was a great series though and I remember watching the premier episode as a kid.

Deep Space 9 was not very good and neither was the last Star Trek series with Scott Bakula.

Oh yea, same here it's a guilty pleasure.

I'm not a huge trek fan but I just loved this series, and the end of DS9 *no plot tons of things blowing up*

The show was cool to me as a kid with the first real sci fi I've ever seen and now I see a lot more in the show, that reflects on current *or at show's writing* world issues.

Such a fun show.

I have never seen a boring episode. I love that show and I agree about the detail and acting, they were both top notch.

Loved them all for different reasons.
First season of TNG was a bit rough, especially as they recorded it in Mono so save $$ in case it didn't take off. Later years really helped to flesh out the characters, and some of the storylines really hit the mark.
TOS will always be my favorite though, for the simple fact that it helped to launch the entire genre.
And as always, thanks to the Great Bird of the Galaxy for his amazing and entertaining view of our future. We salute you Gene, and hope you found the perfect society you envisioned for our children.:chr

More like:

1) TNG
2) TOS
3) DS9 (if you based just the later years, then it'd rank higher)
4) Voyager (Borg...Seven of Nine... You can't deny)
5) Enterprise

Yes... I own the entire series of TNG... best investment in a Chinese version I ever made.

DS9 was, far and away, the best Star Trek... the re-launch (novels) are incredible. If you haven't read them, run out an buy them now. Seriously some of the coolest and most interesting Trek reads ever.

TNG is phenomenal as well...

I watched the original when I was a kid and thought it was kind of boring... but so were most shows of that day! I liked that it was about space travel and had cool technology! Now that I'm older I appreciate what Roddenberry was trying to do!

TNG was so much better than the TOS!!! I always laugh at Kirk and McCoy when I watch... My favorite line, "He's dead Jim!" TNG had a great team of actors! I was really sad when the series ended. I love the movies... for the most part!

I liked voyager because of the Borg!!! You have to love the Borg!!!

I'm with Darrell; DS9 was Gilligan's Island in space!!! But it is still Star Trek so I give it respect! It had some cross over episodes which were really cool!

Enterprise was retro and I like going back in time! Can't wait for the new movie because of this!!!

I do not consider myself a Trekkie because I live far far away in the Star Wars universe!!!

Allow me to elaborate on my rankings:

DS9- characters characters characters... plus the on-going intrigue with the Cardassians (Gul Dukat, Garak), the Vorta/Changling thing, and that biotch Kai Winn

Enterprise- I like the cowboy feel to it... they were trying to figure it out along the way... I liked them setting things up for the "future"... sometimes they screwed up but they did what they had to do and didn't apologize for it

TNG- seemed a little lacking in action... just a little too cerebral and serious sometimes... don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it very much but sometimes they seemed a little remorseful when they had to get tough or defend themselves.

TOS- when it was the one and only it was great but now it does look very dated and cheesy (think "Spock's Brain")... but the characters will always be the originals

Voyager- sorry but I just could never get into it... I have tried and tried but I can't find one character I can like... not that I dislike them, they just seem blah to me (ok... maybe the doctor was pretty good).

Just my opinions...

You're a good man....

I couldn't really get into Enterprise, I did watch the first season and a few episodes here and there, though it seems to be missing something that makes the other star trek's special. And seriously, who doesn't like Jerry Ryan walking around in skin tight clothing all episode? :D

Been a Trekkie forever. I mean, I was actually ALIVE when the original aired. (ok, maybe not old enough to watch).

I do love TNG though. although, going back and looking at the early episodes, it can be hard to watch.

My list...

1) TNG
2) TOS
3) DS9
4) TOS the animated series (oh yeah, find that in your time capsule!)
5) Voyager

Have to admit, I did not get into Enterprise and only watched a few episodes.

Wife and I have loved something about all of them. Favorite would have to be TNG though.

My favorite character would have to be 7of 9 :dr

Wife's favorite Will Riker :dr ( She made me put this here. :fl ) :ss

As far as DS9 only staying on the station, one of the best episodes of all of the series was when the Jem'hadar had several DS9 crew members imprisoned and were trying to break Worf's will and spirit in fighting matches.

The music from ST TNG started mysteriously playing in my head last night. My Netflix account recently went unpaid, and I remembered them not having ST TNG streaming. I DO recall them having the new movie, so I figured it would be the next best thing and reinstated my account. When I got on, I searched for ST TNG just in case and there it was in all of it's glory, waiting to be streamed. So, I've been watching just one episode per night since.

Q is spectacular. But on the whole TNG usually left me wanting. Their high points are easily the best sci-fi on television.

I always thought that Q was based off of the Squire of Gothos from the original series. A lot of similarities between those characters, although Q is much cooler.

Data was awesome. One of my fav episodes was the one where Data and Geordi are doing sherlock holmes simulations in the holodeck.

Since people were listing their fav Star Trek series, I'll list mine:

1). TNG - Picard is easily my fav character of all-time. I always hated Riker though.
2). DS9
3). Enterprise
4). Voyager
5). TOS - I actually hated TOS - didn't like Kirk. Maybe the Riker/Kirk similarities are why I hated both of them.

AWESOME!:banger I finished the entire series a week or two ago.

I have decided to watch all of Voyager since I never actually gave it much attention. I hope they hurry up and bring 7 of 9 on. Voyager is...entertaining, but it seems that there isn't much going on. I'm through an entire season and have witnessed very few battles, the ship shaking violently in nearly every single episode, Janeway always making overly intense facial expressions, and everyone thinking that the most bizarre events are "impossible" even though the Federation should have tons of data that "impossible" is just "improbable" by now. ARGH!:bhd But, it is more Star Trek and I will watch it every night for the low cost of $7.99 per month streaming.

Watched every episode of TNG when it first aired. To this day, The Inner Light is not only my favorite episode of that series, but probably one of my favorite episodes in television history. I watched most episodes of DS9, but it started getting a little too weird for my taste, but I hung in there. Definitely didn't enjoy it as much as TNG. Couldn't get into Enterprise at all, even though I like Scott Bakula from his days on Quantum Leap. Voyager? Meh.

I liked all of the Star Trek series some. Voyager was the worst with Janeway and her "macho" faces she was always sporting.

Voyager? Meh.

Absolutely agree with you on Inner Light. Truly an amazing episode and a terrific example of what Star Trek can be about. One of my personal all time favorites from all the series, and I've been there for them all since I first discovered the origional show in the late sixties.

Voyager becomes a great series later on. DS9 is my favorite of the franchise and Even Enterprise is really good.

One of the best sci-fi series in my opinion is the new Battlestar Galactica. If that's still streaming, check it out... :tu
I'm about half way through the third season now and there are a few episodes that have made me grow on it by now. I still think that the ship shakes nearly every episode, Janeway makes those overly dramatic faces, and Tuvok melds with everyone and their sister, but I'm enjoying it so far.

I'll need to give BSG a try some time. However, it may be a year or more before I can get to it.

You'll love BSG. Make sure you see the first episode. Netflix doesn't have it, many places list the first episode as a pilot. It's 100% essential to see it first before "Episode 1".

Thanks for the heads up.

Inner Light is absolutely one of the best episodes. I was actually a bit sad when watching a show about the giant auction done a few years back and Patrick Stewart commented that the flute didn't actually play.

That sucks. I think I'm a little sad now too. Do you remember how much it sold for?

Another Trek fan. Love the original (caught the first Harry Mudd episode just a couple of days ago) and TNG. I liked the beginning of Voyager, but got bored quickly. Also liked Enterprise. Never really got hooked on DS9, though I did like some of the characters and watched it occasionally.

I think one of my favorites from the Original (can't remember the name) was the one with Joan Collins and the time portal. When they get back through the portal after Kirk has to stop Bones from saving Collins' character, and Kirk tells Scotty "Get us the hell out of here!". Trouble with Tribbles also a fav.

It's been forever since I watched any of the series. I'll have to go over TNG again. This, and Highlander helped me through some tough times in my 20-somethings. The basic premise of morality in TNG, and Good over Evil in Highlander I truly believe helped tune my moral compass.

Yes, I just said two Fantasy/Sci-Fi shows helped teach me right from wrong.

Me, I couldn't take Trek "morality" too seriously. I mean, look at the big picture. Everyone works, no money, no poor, no unemployed, no wars (on Earth at least), Earth has a global government, and the most despised characters, though not the toughest, they run into are the "greedy" (capitalist) Ferengi.

It's basically a communist utopia. Funniest part is communism never actually results in a utopia, but that's the pipe-dream. In the series you can't help but overlook this political stuff and just enjoy the heck out of it.

I know the Ferengi changed roles a bit in DS9, but I'm mostly speaking of them in TNG.

Interesting observation. Although it is still making a comment, my comment IS no comment.
