View Full Version : Taking a cigar for a walk

I need help finding a good hand-rolled cigar that I can smoke in about 30 minutes without puffing my brains out. I don't smoke in my house because I have a toddler. For the last couple of weeks I've been going for walks around my neighborhood and sometimes I take a Dutch Masters President with me. Now before anyone berates me, I only bought a five-pack strictly for nostalgic purposes (they were some of the first cigars I ever smoked 16 years ago). One lasts for just about the duration of my walk. Right now my favorite cigar is a Baccarat Churchill, but I can nurse one of them for two hours. I need something smaller and quicker to enjoy on my nocturnal journeys. The Dutch Master gets the job done, but let's face it, a cheap cigar tastes like what it is. I want something good. Any help from my fellow inmates will be greatly appreciated.

What about a Baccarat Robusto?

Oliva special G should be a nice 30 min smoke.

I'll have to give both of those a try. Glad to know there is a Baccarat that fits the bill. I just find those good for the end of the day.

Okay no one beat me :)

I smoke a lot of that size search tins and you will find tons, I am not a jr fan but they have a great choice so does famous. I like the red dots, the partagas blacks and even the fuentes ring size is usually around 33/34 a 4" give or take.

Good Luck and I smoked most so any questions just pm me!

I smoke short smokes in the winter time and I usually stock up on Pepin Black Perlas, Tampa Sweetheart #50 Maduros or for a little longer than the other two an LFD El Jocko.

Perdomo 10th Anniversary Champagne tins - five 38 x 4" cigars for a mild. For a stronger cigar, the Perdomo Habano Maduro tins.

Lots of manufacturers have petite coronas that might also fit the bill.

DPG Black Perla - excellent smoke in its own right. But, also fits the bill for what you are looking for.

Cabaiguan Petite - another excellent smoke. Also fits the 30 min. parameter.

J.Fuego Delirium Minuto - a bit of age on them makes them even better.

Just a couple that I found excellent.

There are plenty of times I can only smoke a 20-30 minutes stick. So

Ashton Half Corona

Ashton Senorita

Partagas Chicos (CC)

Cohiba Red Pequenos

That should keep you busy.

I enjoy the Ashton Maduro mini's.

Try a K A Kendalls 7-20-4 "Dog Walker" an excellent short smoke. The name says it all, about a 30 minute smoke thats awsome in flavor.

Or try a J Fuego Origen "Originals" they are about 30-45 minute smoke and one of my favorite short smokes. They can be bought for about $1.50 each! Thats an awesome price and I'd pay 2-3 times that for them.

While I can't comment too much on these - except the two CC Partagas offerings - also check AtlanticCigar... I believe they still do a 'Dog Walking' sampler of smaller smokes!

I like petitie coronas when I go for a walk. Some of the ones I smoke are:

- Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic 1952
- Gullien Goviado
- Gullien Reserva Miraflor
- Padron Principe Maduro
- Illusione 68

There are many others but it is too early in the morning and I have not had my coffee yet :)

For even shorter smokles I like the Padron Corticos Maduro (6 to a tin).

Has anyone tried the CAO Brazilias that come in a tin... I saw them at my b&m the other day and I thought I'd see if anyone has tried them prior to grabbing one... I love the Brazilias and wondered if they were comparable....

I really enjoy a Nica Libre Principe for when I'm grilling out - about 20-30 minutes.

I am hoping the Perdomo Habano Petite Coronas fit the bill for me (although in a perfect world I would just buy some Party Shorts).

I did not care for the Oliva G Maduros.

Another vote for the Tat Petit Cazadores, also the Petit Reserva.
For a decently priced stick, the Tatuaje Havana VI Angeles is great too. :2

Have you had the O maduro? I've heard nothing but good things.

Yes, I love the O maduro. I think that's what my problem is with the G.

I spoiled myself with the Serie O and thought it would have the same flavor, not even close.

Any CC Petite Corona, Oliva G as mentioned, Punch London Club (under $40 a box), and the JDN Antono Machito! Watch out that last one is a beast :)

I do a 30 minute walk each day and asked a simular question here (and of course recieved some great advice).

See linky below:

Also, I never did hone in on one cigar for my walks. I'm still sampling robustos or smaller cigars each day.

Wow, thanks for all the input here! I need to start walking our dogs. With the two of them, my usual smokes would give me a good 30 minute walk with each of them. Wish Rockie was not so darn protective and aggressive, I'd walk them together.

Padron Corticos, can't go wrong with the price either. $18 for a tin of 6. The maduros are especially good.

Have not seen them suggested yet but the Fuente Exquisitos are a tasty 20-30 minute smoke.
Natural or Maduro.
Also consider LFD Daiquiri also come Natural or Maduro.
Love the Maduro!
