Just putting up a thread here to see how many dominoes (bones) aficionado's we may have on here. I play when I can, and I am not that great at it. But it's a great cigar smoking game.

I mostly play "all fives" as that is what I grew up learning and playing. What variation(s) do you all play? Anyone got a custom set??

I used to play Texas 42 a lot (http://www.texas42.net/42links.html). But since I left Intel in the 90s, I haven't found 3 other people to play with. Sigh.

I haven't played in years. Should pick a set up so my wife and I can play while I'm smoking. :D

Play every week at the Winston's cigar shop. Not sure what version we play is called. We did learn a new style of Russian play that we have been playing lately.

Being Cuban, it is as apple pie and baseball to Americans. However, we play with double nine.

I partook in some dominoes with this guy, Ron1YY (where's he been?), MadeinDade (him too...?) and a couple others when I was in WPB area. Aside from that, we visit friends in Aruba and it's about as common there as PR and Cuba. Now all I have to do is learn their language(s) so I can figure out what the hell they are saying... ;)

I used to play at work years ago but only up to double six. Those guys down in S. Florida are in a whole other league.

Started playing this summer, out on the patio, in the evenings with the wife, a drink and a cigar. Usual game was draw with double fifteen.:tu

No, but I've been known to buy their pizza once in awhile now that they've started using real cheese.

For a while I thought Cuban dominoes were the only way to play, unless you were training them to push them over.

Yeah.
First of all, we go to double nine rather than what most play, double six.
That creates more complexity in the game.
To play it well, you need to be sort of a "card counter" to know what is on the table, what remains to be played and the odds of what the other person may have.
With double nine, that is that much tougher to do.

Next, lots of trash talk.

Next, we play two ways. Individual "guerra", each man for themselves or we play partners with the person across from you.

Either way, lots of trash talk.

I play chicken foot but like others haven't played in a year or two.

This is the only domino game I know. My wife's from Texas and when I was down visiting my in-laws they tought me. It is fun, but usually with 4+ players. Never tried 1 on 1. Is there a good domino game for 1 on 1? I would like to find one my wife and I can play together and enjoy while smoking in our heated sunroom this winter.

I played last night at the local cigar shop (Wiseash). We play to double nine and there was definitely trash talk so I guess by Carlos' description it was Cuban style :D Tim aka ItsmeTimD was my partner and we were kicking ass at first but the shop owner and his partner made a comeback to take the series 2-1.

1 on 1 a good game is "all fives" (also called Muggins)
