View Full Version : How many cigars in your possession? For the VERY sick folk

poker

Ok, I got a few folks who wanted to see who was seriously neck deep in a buying spree, who has more cigars than some B&M's, or in a nut shell...who was truly out of control.

This has possibilities of being really eye opening to the new guys :r

Same as before, voting in the poll will be anonymous. Even if you voted in the other one, you can vote again here if you fit within the scale.

Have fun & try to be honest ( I know you all are honest. :r)

I did an inventory of my cigars once, and immediately recognized that no sane person would ever have so many cigars.

I realized there was only one right, sensible thing to do.

I have never counted them since!

When I first began, I really got caught up with the auctions and was buying things I had no clue or idea what they were like. I just bid on them because I wanted cigars....(need to examine that statement). Then I found myself doing all sorts of crazy things to win the bids.. would stay up late and put in the last bid one minute before it closed, got ticked at the guy who would always bid me up and I tried to outbid them, (did this many times), and would always try to buy that new cigar everyone was talking about whether it fit my palate-profile or not. I rarely bought a 5 pack or sampler, but, opted for a bundle or box, sometimes two of each or more. I have tamed down and bid very little now or buy very little. Hell, I have just about everything and no where to put new boxes or bundles, unless I build a larger walk-in and that aint going to happen. I must admit, though, am a sucker for 10% or 20% off on sticks especially if I dont have too many of that brand. In another thread, I posted am always looking for $1 stick, so that still stays with me. Cusano lower end prices for sticks, CC, M1, MC, P1's, and Alec Bradley's Spirit of Cuba are the latest. Even with all that said, Free Cuba at $1. a bundle of 50 for $50 at CI is the best for me.

man before i found this site i didn't even know what a humidor was...now i'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a waxing moon humi AND an aristocrat because i can't fit anything else in my 100 count...not to mention i like to show off my treasures...

i've probably smoked like 25 cigars in the past year and always buy in batches of 5 or more to justify smoking 1...i'm sure i'll be "sick" in a few years from now...since the humis are for my singles purchases and i want an aristocrat so i can start to purchase some boxes of the singles i know i really like...

Started smoking about 18 months ago or so. Had quite a bit of freetime (and a little extra cash) to read all the reviews and learn a little about cigars and got hooked. Think I just passed the 1600 mark or am very close to it as of the last delivery yesterday. 4 coolers, almost packed solid. About 30% cc's. So, a nice mix in there. GOT TO STOP.

I think it would be literally impossible to smoke 100,000 cigars in one's lifetime. If you live to be 80 and have only smoked since turning 18 and smoke one a day you will have smoked 22,630 in your 62 years of smoking. So to get to 100,000 that is 4-5 smokes a day for 62 years. Holy balls. Now that being said I realize alot of guys collect and then share with friends etc. I am just saying that 100,000 for personal use is crazy! But that is why we are the Cigar Asylum. I guess they truly belong here haha.

Sure, I will put one up...

Basically, I use 7 different 28 bottle Vinos, and a 128Ct cooler...

Honestly, about 1/4th of that number is singles that I am not allowed to smoke, so the more sticks I buy, the number keeps going up (esp since I usually only smoke about 3 cigars a week or so)...

Probably aging... it's a good way to keep cigars around and see how they mature. Out of sight, out of mind........ :)

I wish!

No, when I started my blog, I decided that one of the things that was missing from other sites was to have photos of all of the cigars in a given release every time there is a new release, to compare past and present to each other.

So, I started collecting every cigar I could get my hands on in a given release...all the tat blacks, all the Fuente 13s, all the Viaje Exclusivos, all the Litto Small Batch, all the Tat Verocu, all the Tat Cojonu, all of the Viaje S&B, etc etc etc...

Sadly, it got out of hand fairly quickly, so I had to move all of them to the cooler, which literally full of nothing but singles of various lines...

The good news is that we are starting a section called "Collections" which will have all of the release info for each cigar (which really comes in handy when you are trying to find out exactly which Viaje S&B you have lol!)...

See here:

http://www.halfwheel.com/?page_id=25340

Here is what I am talking about, every Tatuaje Cojonu that has been officially released (and one that has not as of yet):

http://newpull.halfwheel.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Tatuaje-Cojonu1.jpg

The main problem with this way of doing things is that I have almost every LE cigar released in the last 5 years, but can't smoke them :r:r

Sorry, probably more info then you wanted! LOL!

I have a little over 1300 right now. 1500 is a high as I've gone. Any less and I'd feel I didn't have the variety I want.. any more and I'd need to reassess my humidors. :)

Maybe 200 counting what's in boxes. And I've cut back. Probably had 300+ about 3 months ago.

Been doing some inventory and in boxes right around 7K of NC and 2K of CC's. Still haven't counted the bags of singles yet.
Think I'll be moving soon and not sure whether to sell some off or take them all with me.

I wish!

The main problem with this way of doing things is that I have almost every LE cigar released in the last 5 years, but can't smoke them

The love I have for cigars centers around the shared experiences with people in the hobby and industry. Once I hit the first category my enjoyment would be further heightened as that means I will be able to create more of those shared experiences through bomb and local pass outs. That's what I truly look forward to.

Sweet spot given rate of acquisition & consumption seems to be ~ 450, # has stayed fairly constant but overall price & quality of average cigar has significantly improved - life is too short & precious to drink much bad wine or smoke many bad and oft even average cigars...

something I realized years and years ago...there will always be somebody out there who has more cigars than I do...I just relax and enjoy the ride...its not a competition.
