View Full Version : Aristocrat - finally placing my order

I'm having Bob Staebill make an Mxt in the 20" cabinet depth (the 19" is a 16" cabinet) since the 26.5 will be too deep for me. I considered dropping the set and forget, but decided to go ahead with it.

So the basic style is this

http://www.aristocrathumidors.com/mxt%20011-rpanel-400.jpg

But the wood combination is this

http://www.aristocrathumidors.com/arist%20M%20Plus-ch-quilt%20020-300.jpg

I expect to finalize and place the order on Wednesday. Bob is really amazing about answering emails and providing all sorts of useful options. He sets the standard for customer service.

WOW. So awesome. If I could get one of these AND stay married, I would do so in a heart beat!

My wife freaked out just when I got my Vino... of course it was delivered to our front door before I told her anything about it :) It's always easier to ask for forgiveness then it is to ask permission... :tu

I have an amish table and a couch with a board sticking out the back. I didn't look at your links lest I covet.
I like stuff with wires and things I can hurt myself with. Kinda ties up the budget.

Ever piece of furniture in the in-laws house (50s bungalow, solid fir) is stickley. Awesome stuff, but not an oak fan.

A bungalow is the right kind of house for it--we have an old colonial, so it's not quite right, but I like what I like.

Stickley will actually build the furniture in a variety or woods and finishes and while the classic stuff is the quarter sawn white oak mission furniture they do have a couple of lines of more modern stuff.

Because there are even crazier humis available, it somehow make your ginormous Aristo less 'insane'... Ok, whatever it takes to get one of these things through your front door, I'm in favor of! :tu

BTW - how do these things ship?? Fully assembled? What do shipping on something like that cost?!

I certainly hope that it is assembled for the price!

He ships FedEx ground and it is surprisingly affordable for as heavy as it is.

Indeed. And since it is cherry, it will eventually darken except for the panels which will make it more striking.

Probably a stupid question, but will the FedEx guy(s) bring it inside and put it in the general area you want it? I assume so, but I'm thinking if they leave that thing in the driveway, how the hell do you get it inside? This has recently moved from a back-burner item to a middle-burner item for me, and the logistics of getting the unit in my house scare the bejeezus out of me.

Bob Staebell pays for delivery to the door and requires inspection and sign-off, which is a really good policy. He also specifies a lift-gate truck so that there is less chance of an accident in your driveway. Bob's advice to me is that a $20 and a smile will get it placed where ever I want it in the house.

I'm having it placed in the living room until I am certain that it really is going upstairs (30% chance that I'll be allowed to keep it in the formal living room). At 225 lbs, it won't be too back to haul up the stairs if I borrow a hand truck and pad it well.

$20 and a smile got my M Plus to the middle of my apartment's driveway, no further. Took a furniture dolly to get it inside the building and a friend to help unpack it and move it into my apartment. Might be good advice in more suburban areas, but not in the middle of Mass Ave in Boston....

Took a while, but finally managed to pick what to smoke after taking delivery. Since it is a once in a lifetime happening, I decided that I wanted something special but that I have plenty of so that in the future when I smoke the stick it will remind me of the delivery.

So I picked 3. I can do that. :)

hand truck and a furniture dolly would make that a one man job.

i move my M around by myself all the time. including in and out of the truck. and ive got a horrible back.
