If so, what do you spin? And what records have you been enjoying lately? I need to get new Tech 12, contemplating on selling some smokes, anyways that's besides the fact. Hope I am not the only one here!

I used to DJ for about 15 years. I just did my last gig in December and decided to take a breather. I was spinning everything. I originally started with vinyl, then cd, and finished off with mp3. Had Tech 12 to start off with then moved to Denon cd players and Serato.

Maybe I'll get the itch again one day but for now I'll just focus on my family and learning more on cigars.

I've DJ'd weddings and events for the last 18 years. For the first 12 years or so, it was every Friday & Saturday, now I backed down to just Saturdays. Used strictly CD's for the first 15 years, now it's all computer. I do a tailgate party for the GB Packers for every home game as well, good times.

I used to be a DJ in NM, spinning mostly at college parties and a large local night club in ABQ. Mostly, I would spin 80s and early 90s vinyl and CDs. I also sold DJ gear, pro audio equipment and taught a DJ class until 2000 in Texas, then I moved to Chicago where I gave up being a DJ. I still have my 1200 and most of my vinyl, tons of CDs, and unknown number of GB on music on MP3s, but I haven't officially DJed in many years. I still get the itch, but I rather not dive back into that world just yet. I do love listening to mixed music and get my club fix from the various DJ mixing podcast. The reaction of my co-workers as they walk pass my office with dance music blaring out of my speakers is funny.

I am thinking about getting Serato too, well either Serato or Tracktor. Ill be mainly using it for skratching and beat juggling sessions. What do you think would be a better fit for me?

And i am just curious but what made you move from vinyl to CDs? I always hear of people doing it the other way around..

About thirty years ago I was a DJ for a small radio station in Phoenix, Arizona...KQXE-AM & KIOG FM...I was also the stations assistant engineer as I held an FCC Class 2 Radio-telephone license with a microwave endorsement...wouldn't mind getting back into it...would like to do a talk show..Saturday or Sunday...movie trivia and discussion...

yup...done it for 25 yrs this year. started straight out of high school for some extra cash and never stopped. i just do the usually banquet/wedding/whatever stuff....mostly a mix of old and new. when i started we had a huge fiberglass rig that the top came off and there were 2 old pos turntables in it and a set of home made speakers with i think 4-6" full range speakers.
moved from vinyl to tape to cd and now i use virtual dj piped into either a citronic console with a pair of peavey 15's or if i am just doing something for a friend it goes into a fender passport (which sounds pretty amazing for what it is)

FinalScratch is the coolest thing to DJ'ing since Grand Master Flash in Beat Street.

I was a college radio DJ at the University of Colorado about 20 years ago. I loved it, and really loved interviewing some of the acts that came to perform. I think the most famous person was Mickey Hart from the grateful dead.

Damnit, I am resisting the urge to go upgrade my system and start DJing again!!! Even if t is just for myself, this could get expensive.

To tell you the truth, I wouldn't be able to tell you, I have nothing to compare it to. This was my first setup. Just saving up for Serato now.
